FBD, you perhaps didn't see my post on 'hits' - the media reporting this failed to make clear that ONE person visiting the website would generate 10 hits just by visiting the home page and similar numbers for each page they visited thereafter. When i got it you get sent in a loop which took you back to the original page without giving you any info at all! It's possible those millions of hits were generated by just one, very very irritated person!

A hit isn't a unique view or even a view, it's a request for information/file. So if, for example you load a page with lots of images on it, it will generate one hit for every image file that is included. It's not JUST image files, it's any file that is contained within the web page. |

I have this vision of Cath racking up 100,000's of hits while grubbing through the swine flu site in a state of virtual hysteria!

Been having another think on the subject and, looking more indepth and I'm not very happy..
* Government in America not telling the people the truth of whats going on , how Lab test samples have gone missing in Florida just days before the outbreak in that state . * Also they are cancelling leave to 4000 national guardsmen. * Apparently there was also a release of Medicinal chemicals into the water supply by drug companies just 2 weeks ago with the amount of millions upon millions of tonnes of unused Medicines being dumped into the lakes and rivers of the US. Not to take into consideration mass-graves currently being built near US military bases aswell. |

my sentiments exactly sparky. I think the figure quoted was something like 2600 hits a second, or 9 mill an hour? When I visit a website and it comes up with an error message, I always spam refresh for a bit to try and get it to work before giving up. So I reckon people would have tried to refresh at least 10 times, therefore the real figure of people trying to get on the site is probably alot less, say about a million

Swine flu death estimate lowered
Predictions that 65,000 people could die from swine flu in the UK this winter are unlikely to be realised, latest figures suggest. Government scientific advisors have revised the figure to produce a worst case scenario of 19,000 deaths.
