Is this supposed to be a serious thread?

It would not stetch the imagination too much to imagine all the social misfits that rear their head on this forum gathering together there grubby possessions and backwards thought processes and gathering at a fortified Chez Orioles for a Davidian Sect-type last stand. Numerous broken gamblers, BNP supporters and perverts sacrificing themselves and their wifes in the name of the Koresh-like Orioles.
Each Way for his St Peter like right hand man imo. |

He could even teach them when to use 'their'

'Okey dokey; He (and I use that as a non-gender specific personal pronoun, obviously) gave us free will, but will damn us for eternity if we exercise that free will to deny his existence'
No, we will damn ourselves of course. We cant just exercise that free will to do as we like,ie. kill a child, and expect him to allow us to be in his presence, thatd be alittle unjust wouldnt it?There are consequences to be had....we can tho, love him, obey him, and try with his help to please him, again still exercising that elusive free will, and remember one of God's greatest commands is to 'love him with all our mind, heart, and strength, ' yet hardly anybody does...hence we have broken his commandment again. If we choose to tell God to leave us alone,t hen that is what we will get, with all that entails...ie. death of mankind, the earth, eternal separation....God is holy and cannot allow sin in his presence...we have the perfect sacrfice to cover that sin in the person of Jesus Christ..we have free will to accept what amounts to a free gift of salvation. |

hey i would make a good hellfire and brimstone preacher.
By:
Do you believe in hell?
By:
i believe in a place which is reserved for people who dont have time for God at all...ie a place of eternal separation...God isnt going to allow everyone into his presence after theyve for eg. just fiddled about with children or murdered their granny.

Why is it requested that this thread be repeatedly returned to the top?
I don't get the point of that. |
By:

By:
I'm being disingenuous TB.
I'm vaguely familiar with the doctrine of free will in religion. |
By:
So who was responsible for the great flood which led to Noah's ark? Which person exercised their free will to create that flood?
By:
men in white coats for tony please...
By:
there was no great flood - there is not enough water in the universe :(
By:
Next you'll be telling me the Bible isn't true.
By:
okay
By:
Nay Damn!
By:
regarding flood....if everyone apart from noah and his family were exercising their free will in the form of sinful acts...(read genesis if u want description) then why should God allow it to continue?
Its funny u should mention that as Jesus said that he will come back when we sink to those depths of depravity again....you also have to remember that man will quite possibly destroy himself were it not for divine intervention....were heading that way now and after so many thousands of yrs we are regressing in many ways |
By:
So you think there wasn't one person in the world who wasn't depraved? Including the children and tiny babies? They weren't spared either.
Or is your God quite relaxed about collateral damage to the innocents as long as the guilty get punished? |
By:
This debate could go on forever, you just need to decide which side you're on.
By:
I think it's a ref against 22 players tbh
By:
Why do you think God failed so badly when making man Tony? Personally I think people are rather great!
Are you relieved that you've been proven wrong about the US? Or angered? |
By:
itll happen soon spark...as for people being great...come and live in ellesmere port...how can u say we are great when people are basically vile?
I know that God loves them.... personally i find this quite difficult to do, id say the majority of people are selfish, treat others with contempt, have no respect either for each other or their property, children are being harmed in the way they are being brought up, youths are all but out of control and hate ...as bible puts it..anything good....its refreshing tho that u r a very positive person, perhaps ud make a better christian than myself. Again, going back to flood, i duno about the innocent ie children, suffering along with the rest...i find this a difficult concept too tho as ive said God cannot tolerate sin in any way shape or form, hence his telling the Israelites to completely wip out all and sundry when they ventured into philistine territory....i think he treats sin in all forms with the utmost seriousness and this is why Jesus came, so that he can look at jesus and not our filthy sins |
By:
He sounds a bit messed up to be honest.
By:
So did he kill the innocent in the flood (assuming it happened, of course)? A simple yes or no will suffice? If so, do you regard him as an omnipotent and just God? You see, I would expect an all-powerful God to use that omnipotence to punish the sinners and spare the innocent. Why punish the innocent as well, if you are omnipotent and therefore have the power to spare them?

Hands up all those who are pleased that this thread was resurected

i assume the innocent, ie if there were children etc around at the time, did did yes.
I find some things hard to fathom, pool, there are always going to be innocent victims of natural disasters, also the poor can be swept aside along with the rich...i know later on in genesis that abraham pleads with God for the lives of the whole city (sodm and gomorrah) if he finds as few as 5 righteous there, however, the only righteous people found are abrahams nephew lot and his family, thus s and g is destroyed. The people who sin endlessly are to blame, and yes, they have children, it may appear harsh but they are also partly responsible for their childrens upbringing.... I honestly dont know why children have to suffer at all tbh...just one of those things well never know in this lifetime....i do know that i weep when i see other suffer ie that elephant man bloke on tv the other night...it s tragic and unacceptable..but then u could say that Jesus found suffering in the form of illness unacceptable too hence his healing of everyone who came to him for help. |
By:
So you believe in an unjust, yet all-powerful God.
By:
u couldve said he was unjust to allow his son to suffer so terribly and of course, to die.
Like i said i dont have the answers...i cant call him unjust because im merely a human...may find out about suffering one day |
By:
quite incredible - what have they done to you Tony? :(
By:
if you want an insight into suffering i suggest you read the thoughts of buddhism.
