In the end it will kill you, fagin. You should know that. Embrace your destiny.

As for 100 pints plus a weekend. I can believe that and I think everyone knows someone who drinks that much. But we all feel sorry for them. I hope you find the boy/girl that you are happy with. 100 pints will give you diabetes if not worse!

Bodil thank you for your advice. I am conscious of that since I stopped playing rugby a couple of years ago - stilll only 27 though - fat but fit if you know what I mean. I do worry about some of my big drinking mates though.

Jockey if your that sick of living there's a lot quicker ways to end it than drinking, harsh but true.

A merc will cull the bingo queue. Jockey - eventually all get to 'the why bother place'. Have you anything better to do? The great thing about racing is wanting to know next year's results. Though I'd settle for tomorrow's today.

Jockey Wilson that is up to you. I hope that you enjoy your full physical capabilities that you dont truly mean that.

I have learnt there is still a turning point - after the doctor said I had the body of a 40 year old 3 years ago I sorted myself out. Not an athlete but now feeling great and much better for the early warning whether it was true or not.

ive had the warning from the doctor....my problem is that at the moment, im struggling to see much point in taking heed of him!.....i have had enough of this wretched planet and if death is looming then the sooner the better!.....its an awful way to be...i know that but im just being honest!

Sadly fagin, "some" of us would kill for the body of a 40yo. Including, I suspect, "young" jockey. We are where you may travel eventually, if lucky.

Still only 27. Got so fat that girlfriend dumped me. I lost a stone and half the past 4 months. Picking birds up again - feeling better physically and mentally.

I can see why though - buttons almost popping from my shirt.

Have to say taking sport again was the best I have done. Quittig beer was horrible to begin with - got used to it - body improved so not a problem had a few beers at weekends and now feel like a tit being awake as late as this because I know I shouldnt be doing it.

My wife has cancer. She has had three operations since August. She has just completed three weeks of radiotherapy. She made Christmas dinner yesterday, refused all help and it was still up to her usuall standard. Bloody perfect.

She refuses to die because life is 'great fun'.

Get over yourself, you bloody pooff.

Harsh but fair, Gallivanter. Sadly we know many like your wife as we age. Bloody random stuff. No sense or justice. Sing in the sun while you can.

The money you're wasting on drink you could be slowly getting some dough together and putting more time in the form book,i was in a similar position 6 years ago.

90 units here. Had the full check up a year ago; I smoke as well. 41 years old. Doctor was in his twenties. He had nothing he could say other than "you won't get away with this forever".

I'm going to try.

gallivanter...im sorry for you and your wife, however are you seriously saying that im lucky because i dont have cancer?....believe me mate...if it was transferable id take it from your missus....im serving no purpose whatsoever at the moment and i agree that its crap that people who are enjoying life get struck down whilst people who are detesting every minute remain relatively healthy!.....just another of the tortures of this cursed world!

No offence intended, Jockey Wilson. I were drinking one of my Christmas presents when I called you a pooff and I'm sorry I said it now.

You're just a bit depressed mate, it can happen to anybody. Get yourself off to the doctor and see what pills he's got and try very hard to make a major change in your life. Joining a club or moving house or job or something takes you out of yourself and lifts your spirits because you meet new people.

Best regards and I'm sorry for what I said.

Virtually Nil.

Though for the first time ever ( I'm 55) I DID drink at home on my own, last week.

I had 2 very small glasses of Caribbean Rum/Coconut and it WAS nice!...but can't see the point of drinking alone...
