While its true that Im a wealthy man thanks to UK Maillas tipping-up of Liverpool FC to win the Champions League at 69/1 on Betfair its nice to get summit fer nowt, innit? I could easily avoid Uncle Kaspar, but then Id have to settle for a basic hut and a manual lathe.

I have my eye on the**berk 9600 hut, which comes with a young lady who helps you assemble the hut and run it until its fully operational ; this usually takes about a fortnight. The young ladies employed by**berk are, without exception, very fit birds, and Professor**berk has designed a fetching uniform for the ladies, featuring court shoes, stockings and ridiculously short skirts. They stay over for the duration, and you have to provide meals, etc. This is not a problem I have a cupboard full of WEETABIX and tinned sardines in vegetable oil.

Nestor, just warming up... :)

The record on the old forum was about 250, but Gogoidlle got about 800 one night IIRC.
Report AM I TOO EARLY December 9, 2006 8:12 PM GMT
I understand there has been much controversy on Betfair regarding whether susses, hold-ups or tights are best : I do not know, for these are technical issues, beyond the grasp of the non-scientific mind. However, I have scouted out Professor**berk on the issue, and for a SUBSTANTIAL FEE, he is willing to prepare an ILLUSTRATED REPORT on the matter, to decide the issue once and for all. Professor**berk is known as the Hugh Hefner of Nowa Huta. It is a great honour to enter the gates of the**berk Mansion.

Most of the hut technicians Ive seen (and Ive seen a few, as I used to be a**berk groupie in the 1990s) are pale blondes ; indeed, there is a 15% surcharge for tanned brunettes. There are NO gingers in Poland as they all escaped in the closing stages of World War 2. All, that is, except BONIEK, the great Polish forward who played for Juventus.

Finally, I should state that the**berk 9600 is so called because that is the cubic capacity in feet of this marvellous hut. If you want a sloping roof, then add a 20% surcharge.
Report AM I TOO EARLY December 9, 2006 8:13 PM GMT
Now, gentlemen, you will understand my desperation to stick in there and hear everything there is to know about Poirot, Jason King and The Invaders starring Roy Thinnes. There is much at stake, even if one or two of the blondes have resorted to peroxide. Uncle Kaspar continues to relate these narratives in excruciating detail. He needs a good editor
When Scotland Yard came to fetch Poirot, he was buying quality Belgian chocs from the quality Belgian choc shop. Forget about that Albanian muck from the Poundstore you know, the stuff that tastes like sealing wax covered in shellac. The assistant offered Poirot a single dark chocolate resting on a lace serviette on a silver tray. It was a WEETABIX-Buckfast liqueur, dusted with Horlicks powder.

In his inimitable foreign accent, Poirot gasped, Mmmmm Magny feek! Hey mate, this choc is exquisite geez thirty dozen. Hiv ye goat any Barrs Irn Bru tae wash them doon ? A week of total repose and thirty dozen o these wee crackers will dae it fer Poirot oer the festive season.

Thank you sir, replied the assistant, And a very merry Christmas to you, Monsieur Poirot.

As soon as he left the building, Poirot was collared by the Old Bill.

Iris was still nowhere in sight BTW - she had clearly scarpered with BIG RUBY. By this, I don't mean to imply that she was having some sort of lesbian affair with a butch daughter of Sappho - that would be slanderous. Or is it? Maybe Iris wouldn't mind. Maybe she could get Sparkmaster to offer a heroic defence of her sexuality...NOT that I'm implying that she is a thieving lesbo : I CAN'T EMPHASIZE THAT ENOUGH. I don't know why she stole BIG RUBY. She may have done it for the cash, to boost her sagging Betfair account. It's still too early to tell.
Over a big, steaming bowl of tripe, Uncle Kaspar told me about the time the English rock group, Radiohead, played in Poznan. Uncle Kaspar wasnt the roadie he was the general handyman at the theatre. This was at a time before Radiohead had signed their first record deal and they were a chirpy, upbeat bunch of kids who were quite happy to tour Eastern Europe in an old VW camper van. They reminded Uncle Kaspar of the kids in Scooby Doo, except there were no girls in the group&and there was no dog.

¿What is Szcooby meant to be anywayi?¿ asked Uncle Kaspar, ¿A Great Dzane?? That show went downhill when they brung in-ed the Szcrappy Doo¿and then there was the Szcooby Dumb with no end of charaktersz they could add to the franchise.¿

In some ways, Uncle Kaspar remained a Socialist and he disapproved of this kind of Capitalism that exploited the kids, who would invariably pester their mothers into buying expensive franchise toys and bedspreads, etc.
Report AM I TOO EARLY December 10, 2006 8:03 AM GMT
Radiohead had to share the theatre with the Poznan Bluebell Youth Choir, a group of talented young ladies who did recitals of Bach, Handel and Stockhausen over the Christmas period. One day, hot-headed Jonny Greenwood got into a fierce argument with the PBYCs lead vocalist, Krystyna Czartoryski.

Just as they were on the verge of fisticuffs, Uncle Kaspar separated them and gave them an old fashioned leather football. He told them to go outside and work off the excess energy they had.
Report AM I TOO EARLY December 10, 2006 8:03 AM GMT
Uncle Kaspar had Radiohead pegged as rugger buggerrz, but they put up a decent enough display on the rutted tarmac ground. The game ended in a 0-0 draw despite the fact that the all-girl PBYC conceded a penalty in the dying seconds ; Thom Yorke pulled his pen four feet past the goalies left hand post.

Krystyna Czartoryski was in Thoms face straight away, wagging her finger : You iz rubbishz muzik ! Like The Fall and Elvis Costelloz you will never be !

Thom Yorke was inconsolable.

The blokes from Scotland Yard bundled Poirot into a car and rushed him off to see some high-powered civil servant, who explained the governments position. What a building, BTW extremely opulent, with decorated ceilings, wide staircases and vast chandeliers. There was even a pianola in the corner, knocking out Knees Up Mother Brown.

Ows yer farver? All right? enquired the civil servant. But Poirot was having none of it. He went off on one. Poirot was SEETHING, IMO :

Meanwhile, the pianola had switched to "I'm Forever Blowin' Bubbles." Poirot reasoned that the cylinder had clearly been set by a staunch West Ham United fan. This might be an important clue to bear in mind - I don't know - it's still too early to tell ; it might be a claret and blue herring ; more waffle, as there are still 43 days to go before Christmas. Is that right?? 43 days of this?? Poirot should solve the case before then, IMO.

It's looking pretty tight and is due to run at Nowa Huta Park tomorrow. It's a big grey five year old colt called WOMBAT PRZEZNACZENIA.

Uncle Kaspar is on the phone and hopefully, we can post the runners soon.

I can see you lads will not blutty well put your moneys where your gobs is ! So you did not have a bet, eh? I am sorry to be posting in the dead of night where you are, but this is due to the clocks going back in Nowa Huta.

Godolphin made a big mistake in not running a pacemaker. Uncle Kaspar set a handy pace, controlling the race from the front. He has a clock in his head, just like Steve Cauthen, but unfortunately, the alarm went off at the furlong pole to remind Uncle Kaspar to reset the timer on his video, and Uncle Kaspar shot over the rail. WOMBAT PRZEZNACZENIA was eight lengths to the good before Uncle Kaspar was unseated. Another 1.01 bites the dust.
Report AM I TOO EARLY December 12, 2006 11:37 AM GMT
Maybe the 22lbs overweight would have told anyway I guess well never know. Dettori made the wrong decision, choosing to run with the monkey-rags on the far side of the 6 furlong course. Unknown to Dettori, the ground was waterlogged there, as the local volunteer fire brigade of Nowa Huta had been testing out their new hoses.
Report AM I TOO EARLY December 12, 2006 11:37 AM GMT
Dettori stalked AR$E ON FIRE and MUCKY WHELK SACK but by the time he switched to the side where all the action was, CUSTERS ARMHOLE had flown. I know this is aftertiming, but I.MONGAN was such an eye catching booking. WTF was he doing in Nowa Huta ??

Also, CUSTERS ARMHOLE was the only beast to be declared with a tongue strap, except for Dettori ; Godolphin didnt want him blabbing to the Polish racing hacks. Not content with using a pair of ladys tights, CUSTERS trainer a taciturn Scotch bloke called Marius Johnston employed his wifes susses and he even jammed a pair of her flip-flops into the hosss gob. Why is it always so obvious after the event ? Those were ARMANI flip-flops !!

********* knew, as they went 11/2 in the shops. Loyal patrons of the Polish T0te were rewarded with odds of 82.6/1 as no-one in Nowa Huta has ever heard of Marius Johnston and his lovely wife, Deerdra.

Although Uncle Kaspar is still nursing his wounds, he is ****-a-hoop (literally) as Professor**berk has sent over a pair of his best brunette hut technicians. These girls double as nurses in times of crisis. Moreover, Simeon Chrisford of Godolphin has been on the phone and Uncle Kaspar is set to double his lottery cash with the sale of WOMBAT PRZEZNACZENIA to this prestigious international stable.
Report AM I TOO EARLY December 12, 2006 11:38 AM GMT

So gentlemen your cards have been marked and your clocks have been punched : Look out for a big grey called DUBAI WOMBAT, running in all the major staying races, including the Melbourne Cup. Chrisford has the strong opinion that Uncle Kaspar was not doing the hoss justice at sprint distances&but what can you expect when you have to train a hoss in a lift ?? Perhaps this is why the hoss suffered from travel sickness if he went beyond 6 furlongs.

They didnt know about the alarm clock and Uncle Kaspar was quite happy to leave them none the wiser. Since they were far from home, Simeon Crisford asked Uncle Kaspar if he knew a good hoss doctor and naturally enough, Uncle Kaspar recommended Professor**berk, whose thriving dental practice is renowned throughout the length and breadth of Nowa Huta. Professor**berk is one of those dentists who have the radio playing in the backround so that the patients wont get too nervous. But for some reason, the signal wasnt too good and Nurse Grazyna, a particularly melancholy individual, stuck on an old Radiohead tape. A strange melancholy torpor spread throughout the surgery.

That may or may not be, gentlemen...but are you REALLY paying attention?? Spot the deliberate error in post number 49 : " Uncle Kaspar will extract anyones teeth for cash up front. "

Do you REALLY think that Uncle Kaspar would set up his stall - or dentist's chair - alongside a qualified practitioner like Professor**berk ?? Could he really pull his own teeth for a few extra Zlotys in the bank? If he did, then his settlement could be effected.

Certainly, there are those who say that listening to one of Uncle Kaspar's stories is like having teeth pulled.
Report AM I TOO EARLY December 14, 2006 12:52 AM GMT
For Uncle Kaspar's sake I will say this was not a deliberate error ; I will say that I drank too much mouthwash last night.

I remember pegging (with a wooden clothes peg, no less) TyPhoo Tea 'collection' cards to the spokes on my wheels to create a 'go faster' sound!
Report Tommy Toes December 11, 2009 12:24 AM GMT
Or were they PG tips cards?
I really can't remember - as I've never liked tea.
Report Velasquez December 11, 2009 12:24 AM GMT
Millport is perfect for cycling, Tommy. It's a flat Scottish island and you can cycle round the island. You can hire bikes. I spent many happy days there, and a few unhappy days.

ffs - "don't like tea" & "hate cheese" -- WHAT SORT OF FORUM IS THIS ??
Report Tommy Toes December 11, 2009 12:30 AM GMT
I really don't know, Vel!

I was brought up in a right old tea-belly' drinking house , but I never liked the stuff, except for a dunk of the odd biccie or several - and then threw the tea away!

It always tasted like licking a choc-ice wrapper to me.

Must have about 30 crates downstairs, Tommy - Trade Fair de-caff lime and charcoal - you name it, I got it for 27p reduced price. I have one cupboard dedicated to tea as I took max. advantage of the great Somerfield clear out sale of November 2001.

Good night, Tommy - I took a sleeping potion tea earlier : Jackson's of Picadilly SENCHA TOSLEEP.

I'll LEAF you with the words of KAKUZO OKAKURA, the great Japanese detective : "Tea is a work of art and needs a master hand to bring out its noblest qualities."

£5 a crate doon the Barras.

Tea's OK. You can't go wrong with dried leaves.

Anyone watching Scrooge on Five? It really is a marvellous film (1951 version)
Report pumphol. December 25, 2014 11:35 AM GMT
This is the 1970 version Kenny the 1951 version was shown on Channel 5 yesterday
Report kenny mann December 25, 2014 11:54 AM GMT
That's strange pumpy, I'm recording it for later. It definately says 1951 with Ali
stair Sim when I press for info but a quick glance shows that you are correct.
Report pumphol. December 25, 2014 12:12 PM GMT
Yes my VirginMedia highlight comes on saying 1951 but its certainly the latter version, I have also seen the 1951 version in colour but it was B & W yesterday, by far the best version of the lot.
Report kenny mann December 25, 2014 12:36 PM GMT
Yes I'm with Virgin. No hurry but do you know if you can record from the radio? My Tivo box doesn't seem to allow it.
Report pumphol. December 25, 2014 12:47 PM GMT
Never tried Kenny till now just gone over to radio 1 ( 901 ) & I have recorded it so there must be something stopping you doing it on your box, it should work.
Report kenny mann December 25, 2014 12:53 PM GMT
