"Empire State of Mind" is an anthemic hip hop song that features sampling from "Love on a Two-Way Street" by The Moments with influences of electropop and orchestra pop.

i'm not into rap music myself and won't pretend that by thinking this is a great track, that i'm actually a fan of the genre

Again, check out Jurassic 5. They were great. I don't like much rap but could listen to these guys all day... no bling, **es or hoes in sight.

Also, try some Scroobius Pip vs Dan Le Sac. Not really rap but it's sorta hip-hop with the spoken word over the top. Really clever stuff.

Well, I don't know the difference between rap, hip-hop, ar any of the 'new' terms for such music, but if somone talks a lot all the way through a song - it's rap, to me.

I found a great version of New York State Of Mind in the early hours, made by MLB tv, which has been edited to show the Yankees winning the recent World Series.
Most of Jay-Z's stuff has been edited out and the commentators do the rapping, leaving just the great beat and Alicia singing.
An excellent video for baseball fans.

I've heard that several times Tommy, it's quite acceptable. Not a bad little tune.
