Man-made and can we make a difference? - not convinced at all.

What must we do? - adapt to live with the changes such as relocate away from flood areas and adapt housing to minimise flood damage etc. Withdraw from fossil fuels and consume less.

one of the main problems is that the average joe has absolutely no concept of basic earth history. global temperatures HAVE fluctuated in the past but this is (roughly speaking) every few million years or so. for THE VAST MAJORITY of the past global temps have been very constant. the fact that they are changing so rapidly JUST AT THE SAME TIME THAT MAN IS PUMPING CO2 INTO THE AIR is a remarkable coincidence if not man-made

from another forum.
Status of IPCC contributors. The programme asserts that it is falsely stated that "2,500 top scientists" support the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)'s reports on the theory of man-made global warming. In fact, according to the programme, the report includes many politicians and non-scientists, and even dissenters who demanded that their names be removed from the report but were refused.
Accuracy of representation of IPCC contributors. The film argues that IPCC reports misrepresent the views of scientists who contribute to them through selective editorialising. The film highlights the case of Paul Reiter of the Pasteur Institute who complained that the IPCC did not take his professional opinion under greater consideration. It states that the IPCC kept his name on the report as a contributor and did not remove his name until he threatened legal action.
Suppression of dissenting views. According to the programme, the concept of man-made global warming is promoted with a ferocity and intensity that is similar to a religious fervor. Sceptics are treated as heretics and equated with holocaust deniers. Retired university professor Tim Ball states in the film (and in subsequent press publicity) that he has received death threats because of sceptical statements he has made about global warming.

ICE HOUSE or HOT HOUSE?

During the last 2 billion years the Earth's climate has alternated between a frigid "Ice House", like today's world, and a steaming "Hot House", like the world of the dinosaurs.

This chart shows how global climate has changed through time.

http://www.scotese.com/climate.htm

Try the above link, scroll down and look at the chart on page 1

Over the past 2billion years Earth has been very much warmer than it is today for 98% of the time - thats right - 98%- WITH AVERAGE WORLDWIDE TEMPERATURES OF 25c for great eons of time - 50% +

THATS AVERAGE !

And look at the steepness of the graphs re switches to iceage and back!- far greater change than we are seeing now.

Now- if want to manipulate climate for our own needs - thats fine and dandy - but no one should believe that the global temperature that we have enjoyed in our lifetime to date is anything other than an unusualy cool period .

Please have a look and post your thoughts - does this seem to contradict what we are being told?

If there was any truth behind the MMCC theory then Prof Jones wouldn't have needed to alter his figures. Why would he need to lie if it was a cut and dried subject. This guy has placed his entire career on the line by telling a pack of lies (in fact he's flushed it down the pan)... why would he do that? Here's a thought... maybe he did it to hide the fact that CC wasn't as cut and dried as he tried to make out.

The climate changing? Yes, it's pretty obvious. Man made climate change? Rubbish.

like here- what they say and what they actually do can be 2 different things.

re spending - it is not their money is it- its taxes from the people. where do u think all the money goes- its to private businesses (who owns these? legislators and there buddies) to enourage green products etc. so taxpayer money funds pivate enterprise = said enterprise benefitting rather a lot!

aside from that, they, like here, intend to force energy prices up, pricing the masses out of the market to some degree, thus reducing consumption. they will not be reducing their consumption personally however- just ask al gore - the rule is for u not them.

What will happen is that the odds of getting record temperature years will increase, until any particular year becomes an evens shot.

The models predict increasing rises from now on. The evidence backs it up:

In fact, most of the recent evidence reported from around the world suggests that the effects of global warming are occurring much faster than forecast: Arctic sea ice, for example, has shrunk in summer to levels not expected until around 2050. There is remarkably little evidence pointing in the other direction: if it were there to be found, the enormous fossil-fuel interests that stand to lose from emission controls would surely finance research to uncover it.

so ipcc is in short relying on a handful of opinions. and lets not forget the work it cites as backing up its assertions is written by.. ipcc authors! lol. coulnt make it up.

in usa there are 9000 phd scientists who disagree. 30000 other scientists signed on too to that arguement. in australia and new zealand there have been further leaks re data ot matching as it should. in finland they found the ipcc reversed their findings when adding it to the report.
