1: Drivers who don't acknowledge you when you stop in the road to let them through.
It's common courtesy imo, how hard is it to raise half your hand from the steering wheel?
Or do they think they really DO own the road?

do you mean the hazard is on your side and you should be giving way as per highway code?!
Report DaveEdwards • November 29, 2009 11:19 AM GMT
Being a fromer city dweller moving to the countryside I have been surprised by the number of drivers who don't acknowledge your kindness in stopping to let them through when it is your right of way. I've found the best was to deal with the situation is to now drive straight through fast making them stop and sticking two fingers up at them as you drive through.

Horse riders are the worst.

I try to help by passing them as quickly as possible and all I get is abuse.

No I don't, I mean in any given situation.
And even in the one you describe, do you not think that pulling over for the other car/vehicle warrants a gesture or some form of acknowledgement?

People who don't know how to use mini roundabouts.

The rules are the same as for roundabouts. Give way to traffic on the roundabout coming from the right.

This doesn't mean wait until the roundabout is completely empty and there is no traffic approaching any of the entrances. (While I sit behind seething and hooting).
Report benji26 • November 29, 2009 2:29 PM GMT
On the subject of roundbouts people who don't understand how to use them when they have traffic lights on, I have seen people stop in the middle blocking an exit as they are looking at the wrong **g lights.

Not sure about that, will closing right up to the car in front get you home any sooner in a 6 mile tailback?

Switching lanes without indicating ( sometimes without even looking) when there are cars around them.

Drivers in the outside lane of a motorway, or any multi lane road for that matter, with miles of room in front of them who won't pull over to let you pass...khunts imo.

It makes me incandescent with rage when the idiot in front of me lets some w@nker push in a queue I have been waiting in for half an hour.

I prefer to open a gap in front of me then close it as they make a move to push in.

Report Barry Conway • November 29, 2009 4:36 PM GMT
It's wise to leave a gap in front in a traffic jam. Should you be the victim of an assasination attempt you need to be able to get out of the traffic and get away from the danger. Also, on a motorway, should a drunken lorry driver watching porn on his lapton smash into your rear, you wouldnt want to be trapped up the rear of the person in front.

I agreed... until a few days ago, when after taking 30 minutes to drive two miles on the M4 the electronic signs told us that the middle and outside lanes were closed ahead.

So most people moved into the inside lane, or the middle lane with a view to going into the inside lane - only for the outside lane to be open after all.

The people who do those signs are cúnts. They are usually ages out of date or just downright lies.

Don't go to Canada.

At red traffic lights they have to leave a cars length between cars.

Nothing wrong with that, is there a criteria as to which to where we should start entering into the correct lane?

cars that drive to the lane closure cones keeps the tailback short, that's why there's a lane there
Report Lucky Trifecta • November 29, 2009 7:39 PM GMT
Another one, people who drive along a clear road (speed limit 50mph) at 30-35mph.
Then as they approach a roundabout and see a car coming from the right which they should give way to, they accelerate into it to make sure they beat the other car.
Once they have made this ridiculously dangerous manoevre, then then go back to 30-35mph on tha next clear stretch of road.
Absolute f*cking clowns!!

Women rarely let you in. I don't know if it is because they lack confidence because they just stare straight ahead hands glued tight to the steering wheel. Or perhaps it is because they are ignorant.
Report dk1986 • November 29, 2009 7:47 PM GMT
I'd say about 1 women in 10 acknowledge you when you let them through. Do they expect us to be chivalrous on the roads, therefore making the palm-show superfluous in their opinion?

You want equality, we want palms. Thank you. ]:)

There's an all asian taxi firm in my town now, it hasn't been here long.
I've seen 2 of the most rude bits of town driving from 2 of their drivers in the last 2 months.

Basically, the one saw me coming up a hill, he was dropping someone off I presume, I had right of way and the pr!ck just pulled out forcing me to reverse back down whilst looking straight ahead.
Unfortunatley his window was closed and he didn't hear me scream "YOU CVNT!!" at him.

With the other one I pulled into a fullish car park where he was stationary, he saw me come up the ramp and just drove straight at me again. He could of waited 5 seconds and I'd have passed him.
Another case of blood pressure going through the roof and a tirade of expletives from me!!
