I thought when your are drinking beer/alcohol your body stops having the natural ability to break down the 'fats' so that's why beer drinkers get the belly.
dont drink beer, get on the spirits.....

You've probably caught the obesity virus and there's little hope for you. And you lack brown fat. And you've reached the age where your metabolism has become so super-efficient that you can run for a year on a thimble of rice crispies and the rest gets converted into adipose tissue. Buy a Dyson, slit your belly, stick the sucky attachment in and let it rip. DIY is the new health way-to-go.

I've had to give up playing squash because of a hideous shoulder injury but walk the dog about 50 - 60 miles a week on average. I have a few beers most days and have no belly, get a dog.

SlippyBlue, are you guessing your mileage or are you using a pedometer app? I'm doing around 25 miles per week, with headphones on, rather rather than walking a dog. The headphones aren't my best friend, but they don't need looking after much nor need feeding.
