On Vista its 'sleep' and 'close down', do you mean that?
On mine there is sleep, hibernate or shut down.
u sahould turn that sh!t off mate..pain in the ringpiece...tell it 'never to turn off monitor or hard disk'.
If you press hibernate, your PC crawls into a corner and digs itself into a hole for 5 months.
Always wondered this.
Does hibernate shut all programs down to conserve extra energy? Does sleep keep them open, making it the returning-shortly option? When I was an inquisitive child I'd have cracked this on Day 2. Just can't be arsed now.

If you choose hibernate you can never be sure it will wake up again.

Hibernate stops the disks from spinning, sleep just... I don't know what sleep does, but it doesn't stop the disks spinning.
