Ken Dodd....easy to dismiss him as a frivolous buffoon but is a genius....watch one of his full concerts on Youtube
maybe you'll agree.

Rodney Dangerfield....made me laugh just watching his onstage body/facial expressions...no respect.
ala his daughter was voted the most likely to conceive in High School.

Wiki..

On April 8, 2004, Dangerfield underwent brain surgery to improve blood flow in preparation for heart valve-replacement surgery on August 24, 2004. Upon entering the hospital, he uttered another characteristic one-liner when asked how long he would be hospitalized: "If all goes well, about a week. If not, about an hour and a half."[29]

I think Lee Mack's best work was the jockey sketch from many years ago, still makes me laugh every time I see it.

Should still be on YouTube for those who may not be aware of it. He used to be a stable lad at ginger McCain's yard.

Rowan Atkinon .. Not The Nine O Clock News, Blackadder, Mr. Bean and Jonny English.   All of them had me laughing plenty.  So he'd go straight to the top of my list.

@FatherMaguire -- Manning and Chubby Brown could both tell a joke but the hateful stuff in their acts shouldnt be celebrated - they wouldnt do the same acts now as they did in their heyday

Chubbs is far superior to Manning imo but I wish he'd drop the race stuff -- most of the time it's barely a joke; just silly voices and the occasional rant. If the audience is cheering not laughing, it shouldn't be in the act.

Loads of 70s guys were good in their time but a current one who always makes me laugh is Mickey Flanagan.

Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Bill Burr, Amy schummer (she's got muppet tits) -
Seinfeld for idiosyncratic details, Jewish humour is traditionally good.

Frankie Boyle talking about Thatcher makes me laugh.

I came across some pre father ted full length Irish TV comedy with Dermot Morgan in it that apparently you can see the genisis of father ted in it.

Never had time to watch it, wonder if I can find it again.

No this was it, wasn't Dermot Morgan I'm totally imagining things! I came across this when Father Jack's actor died:

I'll have to watch it, it seems to be well loved.

I really like Milton Jones, he's the smallish guy with longish hair who does all the surreal one liners, very inventive, not sure there is anyone else quite like him.

Actually there is - he looks just like the bass player for Marillion LaughLaughWink

Blast from the past.... Dusty Young, Irish comedian, great one liners, probably the best I heard telling Irish jokes.

Yes I know that canadian guy Francis and you're right he does the one liners, not quite as surreal as Milton I think. But he's good as well.
