Ah, right, I see.
Well, as long as you landed on your feet, Big Charlie, I suppose that's all that matters. Most exams now are not a test of your knowledge anyway, but more an exercise in who can remember the most. In the last few weeks I've read essays which have been awarded As but haven't answered the question, shown an understanding of the subject, or both. It's shameful. The dumbing down of the world continues. |

Bodil, I took the test on my 40th birthday, and as you can imagine, I landed a few sizeable bets in different pubs in the east end. I'm obviously no genius, but a lot more intelligent than most gambling east end pub-goers think I am. Was I lucky or not ? I have no idea, but I wouldn't fancy sitting it again to land a gamble. I know it pays to sound thick, people always think they're having YOU over That last line struck a chord with me. Its always been my theory, I think you have a distinct advantage when people can't help but underestimate you. |

Yoof : Al-Queada. :^0 One of the more subtle benefits of having a socialised education system in this country is that the majority of us were forced to mix with folk from all backgrounds, from a young age. You learned quickly not to make snap judgments about a strangers intelligence, character or how good they were at football. Nor did you pigeon hole people into defined social groups, of course nor did you give those social groups standardised traits such as - 'all the hard boys are thick', 'all the good looking girls are**s', 'all the rich boys are poofs' or 'all the yoof are thick and dont know anything about Israel' Just a shame 5% of us miss out on it... ;) |

I didn't miss this at the bottom of the previous page from you. clacherholiday2 12 Nov 00:13 the bottom 5%, quite a claim Because I never sat an exam, and therefore have no passes, doesn't make me part of the bottom 5%. I never got to be world heavyweight champion, but there's a very short queue of those who'd risk a left hook to the jaw or temple. ;) |
