Just found an error on my BT bill that amounted to being overcharged on my bill by around 25% overpayment on my line rental and calling plan.

BT just changed their billing cycle from monthly to the 20th of each month. Thus, I was charged for a month + 19 days just now (November being in advance).

When I queried that my math made (roughly) £19 as opposed to their £23+, the person at the calling center told me that "it seems to be a problem that would be affecting several customers". My jaw dropped. Something you shouldn't admit.

So I pass on his wisdom.

Your bill will be more if they changed it over to the 20th.
They will say it is because of six weeks.
When you ask them to break down the math, the difference will be there.

Equivalent to two pints.

Now....take millions of customers and multiply it by £4........criminal

And based on the stats from education, a good portion of the country will not pick up on this.

And even if they "apologize" and credit your next bill, it means Millions in their account for four weeks +.

A note: He said he he could only credit. I said no way. He said 5 days. Do the same.

Criminal.

I can't understand why anyone still uses BT. Is it because of the friendly British brand image?

When everyone was changing from dial up to broadband,I informed them I wanted dial up stopped on the day my broadband was due to start, useless khunts cut me off straight away,I eventually got through to them and they gave me another dial up number to use til my broadband started, this was ok,6 months later i noticed on my bank acc I was still being charged for dial up phoned them again took ages to get through to some** in India, would only refund me 2 mths I will never use BT again.

BT are a great company, always had excellent service from them
Report SHAPESHIFTER November 9, 2009 3:10 PM GMT
You can have excellent service but when you systematically apply an "error" to your billing, this is wrong.

They had ten days from the day my bill went out to direct debit to send an email saying there was an error and would be credited on next bill.

They did not.

Upon review, it comes down to the following:

Because the discounts are calculated in a seperate section, they are done PER BILL rather than FOR THE PERIOD (in my case, six weeks)

This "error" by BT would be on all bills. Therefore;

If your billing period was changed this month

OR

changed in the past, chances are all your discounts were not applied.

Posted in moneysavingexpert. Worded with a bit more detail but got pulled??!?!?!?! within an hour.

Forum isn't mediated so someone had to report it.

I looked for BT threads on the site. All about service. None about billing.

Hmmmm....
