I remember having this Robin Hood figure (at the time the Kevin Costner film was out) and it came with a zipline that you could attach to two points, tie him on and send him flying down. Must have spent an unbelievable amount of time messing around with that around the house.

'subbuteo, world cup 78 edition, never did put the batteries in the lights tho'

I had that! It was ace. Had the Scoreboard with the slots you could team names into a I think. It got a bit melted by the fire but we still used it!

My favourite was my set of matchbox, corgi and hot wheels cars, and the masses of track I had. I'd race them against each other, make league tables, all sorts. God I was a loser even then!

Table hockey set. Myself and my best friend, Sandy McKay, played entire seasons with a schedule from October to April every day after school. Between the two of us, we had all the players in uniforms.

Then the play-offs right onto the Stanley Cup.

Year after year after year till we were 10 or 11.

Flash forward to University a decade later and we ended up with a flat with two other mates. Two weeks in, we went to the local toy shop and bought a 60 inch table and built a schedule that ran all winter between the four of us.

When not with Sandy McKay playing hockey, Major Matt Mason kept me busy. Believe I had everything on this page:

Wish I could find it Eboue. Probably long gone by now. Could drive the missus mad having that flying round the house at the weekend.

Never had the Robin Hood Wagon - I think I may have improvised and had him driving around in the Turtles' Pizza Wagon!

Also had a great game called 'World Cup Cricket' which was probably the cricket equivilant to Super Striker. Was a bit fiddly but quite good once you figured it out:

sparkmaster...my dad was an electronic whiz with a soldering iron.

My Major Matt Mason space station had more gadgets, lights and wires added into it than Mattel ever intended.

I had a radio-controlled plane with which I terrorised the village until it was confiscated by my dad. However, even more loved, was my dog. Every boy should have a dog. Not just hours of pleasure but years of pleasure.

Dogs also have the advantages of agreeing with everything you say and do and taking the blame when you raid the kitchen.

Not quite sure you can class a dog as a 'toy' though!?
By:

All right, maybe my dog was more your vicious barstard than your toy, but I loved him and had more fun with him than anything that came shrink-wrapped in a fancy box.
