What do the boys think? Sort your bottles , newspapers and cans and save the polar bears?Reduce your carbon footprint?

Or Not?

I think it was Lyotard (in 1979?) who predicted that the political elites would have to invent a meta-narrative to replace traditional religion.
Report rustyboy November 9, 2009 10:17 PM GMT
not quite sure why its always about polar bears. given the chance they'd kill everyone of us.
Report Back High Lay Low November 9, 2009 10:20 PM GMT
The greatest trick global warming ever performed was to convince the world it existed.
Report Velasquez November 9, 2009 10:21 PM GMT
Just as the Western powers exhaust themselves, they try to put the brakes on Chinese and Indian industrialization :

"Indian cows fart too much..."
Report Get me a drink November 9, 2009 10:23 PM GMT
I'm trying my best to increase my carbon footprint, because global warming has come to a halt for the last 8 years! That's why the environment fascists have changed the name to climate change.

We need more global warming in the UK, because we were promised the climate of the south of france which would be nice to have but without the frogs.

As for polar bears, they can swim to land can't they?
Report sparkmaster. November 9, 2009 10:26 PM GMT
Ah yes, the western governments, the champion of climate change science. There's nothing that promotes scientific findings so well as pretending they don't exist for 25 years! How can anyone possibly be so gullible as to think climate change is a western government scam when scientists practically had to glue themselves to air force 1 to get the President to take an interest.
Report Dobbo November 9, 2009 10:27 PM GMT
and?
Report sparkmaster. November 9, 2009 10:27 PM GMT
Why would anyone past primary school level of education expect global warming to lead to temperature increase across the planet? That's why the term climate change is now preferred, because it stops halfwits assuming they're going to sunbathing 12 months of the year.
Report Velasquez November 9, 2009 10:28 PM GMT
Are you saying, then, that Indian cows DON'T fart too much?

You're quite happy with their fart levels?
Report Dobbo November 9, 2009 10:30 PM GMT
I'm setting up a new charity "CFI" Corks For India. A small step but a gigantic leap.
Report Velasquez November 9, 2009 10:34 PM GMT
Dobbo, you have went right up in my estimation, especially as cork is a renewable substance. You could be the Barney Curley of climate change.

P.S. Is it true that Al Gore is approaching BILLIONAIRE status through his investments in 100% natural fart-stoppers??
Report Dobbo November 9, 2009 10:36 PM GMT
The cork industry is dying since the move to plastic wine bottle stoppers and screw tops. We can save it and save the planet and still feel ok driving our Chelsea Tractors. Its win, win, win
Report Velasquez November 9, 2009 10:37 PM GMT
I love it when someone starts with "Ah yes," - it's almost poetic and patronising at the same time, isn't it?
Report Dobbo November 9, 2009 10:39 PM GMT
Have you been dead Vel? Haven't seen you around for a while
Report sparkmaster. November 9, 2009 10:41 PM GMT
Ah yes, Vel, it is.
Report maleuk01. November 9, 2009 10:41 PM GMT
oh well if Darwin is right then the polar bears can adapt and become fish to survive.

and secondly just find a place near the beach which is a bit chilly at the moment, wait for the climate to warm up and u have the new perfect holiday destination as other places become to hot.
My guess is ireland. so buy buy buy land nr the sea!
Report Dobbo November 9, 2009 10:47 PM GMT
The first question is : Is the theory wrong?

The second question is:

Is it reasonable to expect our governments to implement poliicies that will successfully effect a situation 50 years in the future?
No precedent for that

For my own part, I've moved away from plastic-based synthetic paints like Bob Ross ACRYLICS - I try to use a linseed oil alternative where I can...I grind my own pigments these days, though sorting out a decent yellow with pestle and mortar is proving devilishly difficult ; it took me two months to source the badger urine required and the pesky little critter displayed a choleric streak when I tried to collect said urine.

A local "global warming" enthusiast offered her own urine as an easier, more viable alternative, but I had to decline her offer.

"No thanks, Miss," I said, "I've taken enough of your p1sh already."
Report Velasquez November 9, 2009 10:56 PM GMT
Well, Dobbo, I haven't been dead...I've just sort of been...RECYCLED!

Bogger...I've been exposed as a DENIER...does this mean my kids won't get into a decent school now...? As I'm evil...?
Report Velasquez November 9, 2009 11:26 PM GMT
I think they should put first rate bureaucrats in charge of this nature sh1t.

SORT IT OUT NOW OR MOTHER EARTH COULD BE DOOMED.
Report Moon Light November 9, 2009 11:38 PM GMT
How you lot can complain about sparky being patronising and then serve up all the ** you've just come out with is really quite amazing.

And global warming could easily cause Britain to reach the same exciting warmth as Newfoundland.

Cover your house in a PLARKOTEX shell (avalable in clear and sky blue)

It absorbs CO2 faster than WEETABIX absorbs milk.
Report Velasquez November 9, 2009 11:57 PM GMT
Yes, Big Charlie - PLARKOTEX / WEETABIX - natural stuff like that - especially PLARKOTEX, which is degradable.

It degrades human beings very quickly.
