I say it would be available on request to any trainer looking to school a horse.I am sure they is a fee.

But I am sure that N Henderson will get priority. Local track, top trainer and very well connected. P. Nicholls at Wincanton the same.

A proper workout for the "ballerina", it seemed; 3m, jumped 8 fences with one horse then the rest on the flat with another. I hope he's super-ready for his next assignment, rescheduled or not.

It is very encouraging that they have been able to give him a proper workout as the Denman still might not happen.

It is especially if it is a hard race on heavy ground. He could have ran in Leopardstown on some nice ground for four times as much money as Newbury.

Only a hard race if they make it one. Clan des Obeaux will not be running at Cheltenham so I suspect he will win with Champ and Lostintranslation having a good workout. Secret Investor getting 6lb from Clan is not out of it if the others are not quite ready.

Champ has to win otherwise they is no point of him going to Cheltenham without a one next to his name.

That is not the way Nicky does things is it? If he thought that a hard race would harm his chance at Cheltenham he won't have one but that won't stop him running in the GC if they think he has a chance. In any case what else has JP got and I can't see him not having a runner. Second to an on song Clan is no disgrace over 3 miles.

I think connections will be more than happy if running CDO close, winning a bonus but not at the expense of bombing at the Festival. Personally, I'd like to see a massive improvement in the jumping department.

Theres only one horse
That finished behind Champ
Last March
That has actually surprised me since
Castlebawn West won the Paddy Power
And was unseated at Cheltenham
I dont do form usually
But I thought I would have a look
At what the runners that finished the race
Have actually accomplished since ?

Sweet fanny adams .....

I dont do form usually?Do you use a pin?You need to look again at the horses that finished behind Champ irishone.

I dont do form usually?Do you use a pin?

Definitely. Its turned out far more reliable than some of the cr4pp you read on here !

Thanks for the advice Cloone .....

Minella Indo .....won a E60K four runner race schase at navan, 4th in THE Gold Cup...but behind the storyteller and kemboy 6 lengths ....thats a worry !

Allaho ..... 4th in the Savilles , won an E35k schase at Thurles beat Balko !

.
Battle over doyen.... Won a E60k at Downroyal ,4th and 6th since

Aye Right, 5 runs no wins
Slate House , 2 runs pulled up and 3rd
CopperHead , won three times last was a £40k renoldstown at ascot, pulled up twice since
Easy Game , won e35k at Gowran bt the storyteller
Pym.... Won a 24k three runner at Sandown

Apart from castlebawn what makes anyone think that any of that field can come back a year on and win a  gold cup

Nothing from that race has won anything 100k or over yet you are putting up Champ as a potential winner of a £625k schase

.....all recent winners had the form in the book , even Coneygree had been round Cheltenham three times and had won 3 on the spin
By:

* nothing from that race...

Except of course CASTLEBAWN WEST !
By:

When: 12 Feb 21 08:37
Champ beat Aye Right by 34 lengths which would mean that Champ would have won the Hennessy (or whatever it is called now) by many lengths under top weight. That may not be reliable form but it is a fact.

No probably irishone always like to help.Who do you think will win the gold cup?
By:
irishone
When: 12 Feb 21 09:54
Its not just a case of who I think will win it. Its a case of which offers value, and DELTA WORK should not be 40\1.
By:
irishone
When: 12 Feb 21 09:59
Sage ..... Thats the problem with form, ratings, measurements

It fails to take into account that aye right trod on a stone as he left his horsebox that morning, that the stable lad lit a **** up near his face and he didnt like breathing in the smoke, or he had a bit of a dodgy stomach an hour before the race, or a spider scared the sh1t out of him in the stable.

Aye right is a good horse that has been a bit unlucky so far this season. His second at Newbury is excellent form.

Irish , do you think they might consider some sort of headgear for Delta Work in an effort to sharpen up his jumping , which presumably they have worked on enough at home ?
By:
irishone
When: 12 Feb 21 14:16
? You cannot be serious ?

The horse gets the lot every time he has run, all I am saying is for a horse with his experience 40\1 is too big
By:
paulo47
When: 12 Feb 21 14:35
Actually yes , the hood he wears is usually just to help them  relax , but for me he needs to focus more on his actual jumping , which for whatever reason seems to have got slightly worse .

Meeting abandoned
So champ has had a worse preparation than Presenting Percy !

Poison Nicky must be fuming ..

Such a shame really , you would want to see champ there
By:
buddeliea
When: 13 Feb 21 09:45
He will be there....wont he?

Hendo.....“As far as Champ is concerned, he is coming off a longer lay off and it is more important that he has a race prior to the Gold Cup, which, in fairness, is only two days short of a month between the two.
By:
irishone
When: 13 Feb 21 10:06
Except its february only 28 days !
By:

When: 13 Feb 21 11:43
The Adonis Juvenile hurdle is a recognised Triumph hurdle trial 20 days before festival every year. I’m sure Champ can recover in 25 days.
By:

When: 13 Feb 21 11:59
Champ has been fine in the past running less than a month later, why should he not be fine this time?
Not at all bothered about it.
By:
impossible123
When: 13 Feb 21 12:11
As far as we know Champ does not have dodgy legs, and I believe a month is sufficient time to recover for Cheltenham. Fitzy said Champ jumped very well the last he saw him. I hope so too otherwise no chance if that's not been sorted. I just want shim to show up; no show, no chance.

Last 3 years - 52% of winners ran between 31-60 days ago , 25% 0-30 days ago and only 17% 60-90 days ago and 6% 90+ days . An advantage but thats all .

Thats not valid here
We are talking the gold cup
No winner in the past ten years
Won after running as late as 20thfeb
....and then it was sizing john
Who needed the ground
Newbury heavy is a slog
By:

When: 13 Feb 21 13:35
The Denman Chase serves as one of the principal trials for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March. Four horses have won both events in the same year – Kauto Star (2007), Denman (2008), Coneygree (2015) and Native River (2018).
