Hard to assess this year's race but the winner is only a 5yo and won by a very wide margin. I would certainly make him favourite at the moment.

I think last years race was a sub standard renewal because of BD fall and Laurina and AJ underperforming. Four minutes in Good to soft shows that he has a bit to find to retain his crown if it is I have had a small bit on EA already, but I think he can be a main player again.

Don't look a strong renewal at this moment.....Last years impressive winner gone, the two time champ gone,Klassical Dream???
3/1 fav come from nowhere, I like Saldier personally....anyone know the latest on him? |
By:
there wasa bit of a problem with sadlier after his win but latest i heard he is back on track
By:
Great, thanks Foyles
PH is my back up in case. |
By:
have backed pentland months ago at 15.5 ,sharjah at 27 ish yesterday morning ,epatante 25s ,and labaik 70 ish .........on the downside i had big bets for me on espoir d,allen before his accident .
By:
You're holding a tasty portfolio whereas I've just opted for Pentland Hills on a satisfactory 1st run, potential and price. Unless Klassical Dream can repent soon or Buveur D'Air miraculously return for this I cannot back any with confidence.
By:
hoping that labaik makes it back to the track ,love this horse ,its his way or no way , one who is just as likely to refuse to start ! but when he jumps off with the rest of the field this fella has some engine as he showed in the supreme . massive price on here so probably wont run but would add a new dimension to the race ,lets hope gordon can get him back.
By:
Did Labaik not sustain an injury post a race and prior to a liquidation sale forced upon his "dodgy" owner? He's the one that won the Supreme at a mega price, and most of the time was unwilling to race, is that correct?
By:
yes thats him .

Hoping for a big field in this season’s champion hurdle.
Mullins seems to of scared off most of the opposition in recent years. Saldier looks the pick of the Irish despite that. It’s wide open though, so I’m not sure the usual trends will be as relevant such as last season’s juveniles having a poor record in this, which could leave the door open for Pentland Hills. Coeur Sublime’s form from the Triumph ties in nicely with Henderson’s, but I think Elliott seems to be best training horses over a further trip in my opinion. Although he can still do well with a few like Labaik in recent years. With a big field predicted, the race could be ripe for a handicapper at a big price to even take the pot home, given handicappers are more used to the bumps of a big field! |
By:
This race should have a field more in keeping with the County Hurdle than the CH this year.

Can't have Not So Sleepy. Was getting 21lbs from an average handicapper lto. Ok it sluiced in but it was off 127. Now 144 which is still 20lbs below an average CH winner.
I think, at 25s nrnb, I'm gonna have a small ew on Supasundae. As a 10yo, it doesn't fit the age trend but this is a poor year. Triple Grade 1 winner, twice at 2ml. It has a decent festival record and has been specifically kept for a spring campaign. Was a good 2nd lto to Buveur D'Air. If he was in the race he would be 3s fav |

you been listening to Tony Keenan ![]() |

Who Tony Keenan??

epatante a bit weak on here

I do not think Pentland Hills will win a donkey Champion Hurdle after today's performance the front at the last fell at the line.
By:
Just reviewed last years Supreme. Thomas Darby is the first of the runners to win a hurdle since March. A handicap over 2.5 miles off a rating of 151. Every runner apart from Klassical Dream has gone novice chasing. On the face of it, a very sub standard Supreme.

How is last years mares Nov race turning out?
I do know the horse that finished 8th(I think) is now fav for the Champion Hurdle!! |
By:
Don't think we have seen the winner today somehow.
By:
I don't know what to make of that tbh.

Honeysuckle won, but yet to watch the race. As such more likely this way bound. If so, Benie Des Dieu Mares then?
By:
Looked to be going to win easily but then didn't with as usual PM right there and a rag right up close too.
Champion hurdle in some doubt I'd say. |
By:
I think if that race was to decide, then they would go Mares.
Then again it's not a vintage CH this year it seems. |
By:
Sharjah ran no sort of race today, he never looked comfortable to me, I wouldn't be surprised if Mullins came back and said he was never happy on him.
By:
Honeysuckle would go for the ch if she was mine
That's the race for her Can go back to the Mares next year if not good enuf ![]() |
By:
Just watched the race. To say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement; 2nd stuffed by Envoy Allen; 3rd had not won for over 2 years, and regressing.
I think Honeysuckle might just win The Mares if Benie does not show up. No chance here, I'd say. |
By:
Faint praise for a win on lively ground from the best that Ireland has to offer apart from Envoi Allen. Ideally wants 2.5 miles but Benie des Dieux is a machine so why not go for the CH so long as it is not fast ground?
By:
Forgot Saldier, who imo is the best of the Irish.
Honeysuckle could win the Mares but less chance in the CH. Black type means a lot for these mares. |
By:
Never mind Honeysuckle I'd consider supplementing BDD for the CH, I'd be concerned that as she appears to be more of a stayer than Annie Power was she might get taken off of her feet, but she'd surely be worth a shout, I couldn't resist the few quid at 60's floating about on the exchange anyhow.

Nick Luck has just tweeted the following ...
Rich Ricci tells me that “you would have to consider supplementing Benie des Dieux for the Champion Hurdle.” @RacingTV |

Annie Power mark 2 !!
I hope it happens. |
By:
Unfortunately, my pocket would rather she went for the Stayers - have been backing her for it since May.
Here was me thinking I only had to worry about her running in the Mares ... |
