I'm glad Elliot indicated the Champion Hurdle more likely for AJ, and no doubt connections of BD - he'll get a tow for much further. But what about those of Laurina? She'd have two horses to beat now, and The Mares is for the taking. Would her connections be tempted?
By:
If Laurina is the Mare they hope she is then BD + AJ won't make any difference to whether she runs or not IMO.
By:
Another thing to consider is Ricci will want a winner and BDD gives him his probablt best chance with AJ and Laurina out of the way.
By:
Charlie Parcs will presumably take on pacemaker/spoiler duties again for JP.

Don't say ye weren't told. |

Interesting stuff from Mr Henderson......
We managed to beat him at Kempton with a mare of our own in VERDANA BLUE who is very smart on good ground. She’ll struggle to beat him at Cheltenham though when it will be at least good to soft – it won’t be allowed to get any quicker than that. Any softer than that and she won’t run. There are two factors going into this race. I don’t think he was at his best last year but we know why. He was in a box next to We Have A Dream who on the Monday morning of Cheltenam week had a screaming temperature. They lived absolutely nose-to-nose. At 6am we got We Have A Dream out of the barn, he hadn’t touched a scrap of his food. Buveur D’Air is as tough as teak and didn’t get over Cheltenham at all last year. We were going back to Aintree, which should have been a piece of cake, but he couldn’t do it. He wasn’t impressive in the Champion, it took him apart, races don’t affect him at all normally. He got away with it but it was a bit scrappy. He’s going to have to be better this year because the opposition is better with the obvious threats being Apple’s Jade and Laurina. Here's hoping he is better!!! |

well done for posting that budd ,very usefull ,good info that most would have been unaware of and hopefully more stables forthcoming with news .
By:
Yes mate, anything useful always welcome.
By:
he is starting to look a fair price at around 2/1 on here
By:
Ground may be a slight concern Foyles, will need at least good/soft I think to beat the 2 mares,AJ in particular I feel.
They will try and make it that going, as they normally do. |
By:
yes budd been thinking about him and the mares, the bit hendo said below is swaying me to beuvair . he has been there in champion hurdles and done it and has less questions to answer and a backable price that could drift a little bit what with likley strong irish support for the mares on the day .think i will start backing him at sp rather than nrnb every week for from now
By:
it will be at least good to soft at least ,the taps will be turned on if needed .

BD was not ridden to win the Supreme. He gave a start to the exceptional Altior and highly regarded Min; either would be a serious contender for this last year, and possibly this too. My only and main concern is Geraghty not taking it up until just before or after the last hurdle; the two mares do not worry mean as much as how he's ridden.
By:
"BD was not ridden to win the supreme"
What an absolute ejit you are. Given up with advising HDB that monalee is a non stayer ? Now concentrating on advising geraghty how to ride What next ? Vetenary advice on horse injuries? |
By:
May I suggest you watch that race again?; pay particular attention to when BD was compared to Min and Altior. Then asks why Altior did not allow Min 1st run at the 2nd or last hurdle.
By:
Well looks like no excuses for the Champ as far as ground is concerned.
Could well be ideal for him, just some Mares to take care of!! That wont be easy. God job they are running though, would not be much of a race to look forward to otherwise. |
By:
apples jade will not be getting an easy time of it up front , mullins with sharjah and hendo will also run a spoiler charli parkes type .she or laurina may still be good enough but the reigning champ is a tasty price now and not even fav on here ,he has less questions to answer having been there and done it .
By:
Not sure about that Foyles
Hendo has 2 others in the race and I don't see either of those front running for BD. And I don't see Sharjah anywhere near the front. Agree re his price though. |
By:
you are right budd no charli . could be 3/1 between now and race day buavair
By:
Keep a close eye on things mate......could be handy having 2 Irish fancied ones!!
By:
Interesting Gigginstown left 2 others in petit Mouchoir and Farclas, wonder if they are considering using 1 of them as a pacemaker for Apples?
By:
I do not think AJ could be gifted an easy lead or lead with Global Citizen in the race. Otherwise, Petit Mouchoir or Farclas could step up to assume the role of a pacesetter. If all else fails Espoir D'Allen could step up for the role too; a decent pace assured, I think, and the anticipated good to soft/soft ground will suit too.
The market resembles that of the fighting 5th when Samcro was absurdly made the fav; history repeats itself, I hope. |
By:
apples jade being fav is completely logical imo
By:
Yeh its close now and i expect it will be close on the day.
By:
5/2 on here now Buveur
Any thoughts? |
By:
^^
The affection for the mares presently; one won 1 out of 3 at Cheltenham, and no proven 2-miler; the other unproven at all. What price would BD be if he'd not run at Kemtopn? |
By:
Shorter.
By:
I'm not the biggest fan of this horse but now thinking I might back him. mares both have question marks, particularly apple's jade in respect to the course, and the rest are rubbish.
By:
thing about apples jade is her last run, she set off at a lung-bursting pace and basically just burnt them off
hard to do that at Cheltenham, they'll all be bunching up around the home turn |
By:
He would be evens.
Race certainly set up to suit him with expected fast pace. Will sit in 3rd or 4 th and come cruising to the 2nd last . Whether hes got enough in the locker to go past Apples on the run in im not so sure. Fascinating contest reminiscent of historic battles: Hardy Eustace V Rooster Hardy Eustace v Harchibald Monksfield v Sea Pigeon Brave Inca V Macs Joy where the dour staying galloper outstayed the turn of foot merchants |
By:
I'm not overly perturbed about AJ as she's sufficient form at Cheltenham, and over 2m; Laurina is the unproven one despite needing to improve significantly to beat beat either BD or AJ. However, I hope with AJ in the line-up BD will have a greater opportunity to be held up till just before or after the last to mount his challenge to whoever is infront then.
By:
How can this horse be 9/4 ?
Hes beat the best gordon and willie could throw at him and neat them fair and square ? I'll be respecting sharjahs galway hurdle win with a place only bet as well ...but seriously 9/4 buveir daire, at this stage is good value in my book . |
By:
is supasundae running in this and if so can he cause an upset?
![]() don't really rate the mares and want an alternative to the hendo horse. |
By:
No Supasundae /Vision Des Flos/Farclas/Petit Mouchoir
10 runners |
By:
agree with Irish he was never ridden to win the supreme but flew up the hill for 3rd going will suit, pace will suit and has the best turn of foot the two mares are quality but can Apples quicken thought they might go up in trip not back and cant have Laurina beating him, will shorten up i think.

By:
Buveur Dair .Totally friendless in the market nearly touching 3s.
J.P waiting till theres a bob or two in the market before ploughing in.?? |
