ruby, katie, david and his brother thomas have all been onto willie about samcro.who has it beat ? one of willies squad by half a length and not seen since . respect his breeding and the faugheen bloodline but agree 6\4 is an overdone talking horse
By:
Samcro beat Jetz by 12l on the bridle. I'd consider Jetz an excellent yardstick as he always runs a genuine race regardless of tactics used.
Call it hype or whatever you want but when jockeys and trainers speak about a horse, the way they have Samcro, then you have to sit up and take notice. The fact that O'Leary is playing down the hype speaks volumes as well. Every year the Irish latch on to a hype horse. Last year it was Death Duty. I don't remember anyone connected to him talking like the way they have with Samcro. In saying that he's definitely not backable at 6/4 now. Really hope ND turns up @ Leopardstown but doesn't look like it. |

I've been told the ground is bad at Ltown atm which is unusual will this change Elliott to move Sam to the Deloitte? I've noticed a few pound in the last few days.
By:
That Deloitte will become interesting if so,don't know why they changed the distance. You will notice a change on Cheltenham trends because of this. It will make the form harder to gauge
By:
It was pissing rain yesterday and raining all morning again and I'm only a few mins from Leopardstown
By:
That'll be interesting come next week as ltown is normally reasonable. Thanks for the info Premier

I agree with Foyle. Doubt WM would be ducking him at this stage. He has beaten nothing yet.
By:
Yes agree also,Willie will fire a few bullets against him before the fes
By:
he has beaten elegant escape , tizzards big baby as well as jetz, even beating half the odds 13 lengths . it doesnt add up to much on paper but mullins one that put it up to him GOOD THYNE TARA tells you all you need to know.
then there is the scope , if that was a virus he's wasted a bit ..... more question marks. |
By:
He's drifted from 1/3 to 8/11 for the Nathaniel Lacy over 2m 6f - Cracking Smart and Next Destination have been backed though - but backed from 4/1 to 15/8 for the Deloitte over 2m instead against a probable Sharjah; still solid for the Ballymore/Neptune at the Festival.
By:
I would run him in the 2mile race,Mullins said Next Destination will probably not run either. It could easily leave its mark 4 weeks before Cheltenham. Potentially splitting the 2m 2f Deloitte into two races could be a bad decision.
By:
Elliot has an able deputy in Cracking Smart for the Nathaniel Lacy over 2m 6f (good prep for the Albert Bartlett) should Samcro (drifted slightly to 9/4 from 15/8) take on Sharjah in the Deloitte over 2m regardless of plan for Next Destination. If so, Sharjah could be a a yardstick for Samcro.
By:
Irishone you do know Samcro beat Good Thyne Tara by 18 lengths last time out don’t you?
I wouldn’t be clinging on to a result from Dec 2016 when 3 months they faced each other again and he smashed her |
By:
I haven't bet Samcro myself but I really do hope the vibes are correct that he is a machine. You can only beat what is put in front of you and Samcro has done it well enough to suggest he is a goodun.
By:
Gordy said yesterday he’ll work Tuesday then they’ll decide, he’s favouring the 2m6 race but he’d have to ask the owners
By:
Weather forecast looks good for the Dublin Festival. Yielding to soft ground would be ideal. I'd say they're leaning towards the 2m 6f given it's also the first race on Day 1. Bring it on!!!!
By:
It pissed rain all through the night and all morning until around 9am, sun is out now but we got plenty of rain. It's supposed to get cold tomorrow and possibility of snow they say.
By:
Samcro is going tobe tested this weekend , this is willies race, 6 years running now isnt it .
By:
Samcro has not been declared for the Irish Champion Hurdle or Nathaniel Lacy over 2m 5f but could take on Sharjah in the Deloitte over 2m 2f instead. Very interesting...Elliot and Gigginstown are gunning for Mullins and Ricci perhaps.
By:
The Deloitte is over 2m.
By:
Now what? Elliott still says horse goes for the Ballymore and that this decision was just due to the ground, which is understandable. If he really impresses could we see him in the Supreme and Getabird in the Ballymore? Jumping the gun here, and i know a lot will depend on Sunday, but i can't see both horses in the same race at Cheltenham and connections of Getabird are adamant he'd be better over further on decent ground. Sharjah of course is the fly in the ointment.
Did the double NRNB with 365 just in case. Nice prices considering. |
By:
Sharjah, is no Fly that is for sure.
By:
samcro in the novice 2m 6f ....bottled the deloitte ?
By:
nah hes up for the deloitte, willies won it 5 years running .... we will know for definite tomorrow
By:
Markets suggesting Next Destination is out of Cheltenham?
By:
Samcro wins on Sunday then goes for the Supreme
By:
Apparently Eddie O'Leary and Elliot made a decision to run in the shorter Deloitte rather than the Nathaniel Lacy on account of the soft/heavy going at Leopardstown, but Samcro would be up in trip for the Ballymore/Neptune post sunday's race, all being well.
By:
yeah that dont make sense to me. he is an out and out stayer and mullins has put in three flat route horses.
By:
I wouldn't read anything other than the fact that Elliot giving himself a realistic chance of winning both races, don't think dropping Samcro back to 2 miles would be a problem although he'll be up against significantly better opposition, he'll still race in the longer race at Cheltenham IMO.
By:
imp
he probably won't be running on soft/heavy at the festival though....anyway, this is about the stable maximizing potential winnings, Elliott is desperate for the title remember. |
By:
Elliott is not one to race his potential stars over longer distances where he can avoid it. Don Cossack raced four times over hurdles and three of those were over 2m, which seems really strange now but probably reflects Elliott's method of not asking them to stretch their stamina before they're the finished article. I think the Samcro decision reflects that. If he does hose up, we may see a change of plan.

gordon elliot is a proper fella who knows exactly what hes doing
By:
If Samcro wins today it would be very difficult for them not to target a weak looking Supreme surely
By:
Getbird still in the picture blue.
I guess Samcro’s reputation will be based on substance after today all you disbelievers? Forty |

By:
With Next Destination looking out of Cheltenham there must be a chance that Getabird would go for the Ballymore.
If Sharjah wins today he could be the Mullins/Ricci runner in the Supreme. Or if Samcro wins impressively today and they run him in the Supreme then Mullins/Ricci may switch Getabird to the longer race. I've lumped on at 7/1 nrnb with B365 just in case. ![]() |

whiskey sour too big today judged on galway runnings
By:
That was deadly
By:
i now believe the hype he is very good
which race? |
By:
Wow. Very very impressive today. Just eased to the front 2f out and then quickens and left the field for dead. In my opinion he will win whatever race he goes for at Cheltenham.
