Totally agree....great post.
Completely echoes my thoughts. |

Yes, better off spending the time on race replays. More so than the form book I think though obviously you need both. You need experience to make use of it and if anyone is starting out that's how I would recommend learning about the game. I've had enough of the rest as I find it impossible to sort the wheat from the chaff and the vast majority of the second hand hand information you get is the latter.

Yes autocue without a doubt.
Last uear i happened to have previously watched rathvinden, balk do flos, ptesenting percy , and penhill all win at galway, my local track not to mention tiger roll. Their performances were what put me on them. That old adage ....believe nothing of what you hear ....and half of what you see was never more appropriate |

The boy is ill with a lung infection, and very doubtful for the Festival; Punchie could be on the agenda though, according to Eddie O'Leary. Get well soon, precocious one!

Don't throw away those antepost vouchers just yet

Why Cheltenham over hurdles? Why not over fences at Aintree or Punchestown given he'll be going chasing? At least then he'd not be rushed into something not relevant to his career next season. My mind boggles!
By:
I see hes entered in the Aintree hurdle
Will he turn up? ![]() |
By:
So is Apples Jade. I think he'll be more likely to be kept back for Punchie as the extra couple of weeks would help him.

Samcro's in the Drinmore Novice Chase this sunday at Fairyhouse at 6/4 possibly against Fakir D'oudairies and Burrows Saint and a few others; Fakir D'oudaries was a very good winner last time out, and so was Samcro.
By:
not a layer but i will 100% be against samcro on sunday hopefull they all line up and i can get a decent price about one or 2 of the others ,he makes the market but i dont think he is as good as he is hyped .
By:
He's not a quick jumper and lost ground at most against a horse that pinged every fence along the way, but the engine was there for all to see and despite the talk after bigging up the battle that we were deprived of, what we were in fact probably deprived of was the sight of Samcro powering clear.
Yes, they are there to be jumped but I think today Samcro went some ways to restoring that very lofty reputation. |
By:
He never had power at the end..... Pmsl
The horse cant jump fences at the moment, end of , has to go right handed and was knackered when he fell, tired jump, came off the bridle just before the fence, and bumped into it ..... |

big drift on this horse today

Gordon Elliott has yet to decide on the next target for Samcro but he could step his star up to three miles.
The much-talked-about seven-year-old departed two fences from the finish in the Drinmore Novice Chase on Sunday, when going well upsides eventual winner Fakir D'oudairies. While he could not have been travelling any better at his point of departure, Joseph O'Brien's four-year-old had been gaining ground at every fence before then and Elliott feels a step up in trip could put less emphasis on his jumping. "He is 100 per cent and is back riding out. He is entered in all those Grade One novice chases at Christmas, at two miles, two and a half and three miles, so we'll see where we go," said Elliott. I'll chat with the owners and see." He added: "Obviously two out is a long way out in any race, but he looked like he was cantering at the time and I couldn't have been happier with what he had done to that point. "He won a point-to-point and I don't think he'd have any problem going up to three miles - three miles might even suit him better because he doesn't jump bad but the other horses are gaining lengths at fences over a shorter trip. Over three miles he would be able to get into his own rhythm." |

Samcro first circuit today was faultless, slow into six out, left.his feet in two out , not fluent

By:
There must be something wrong with the horse they just aren't getting to grips with, that looked like last season all over again

I think the bubble has truly burst, and he's a bridle horse as one poster had alluded to in the past. Only one possible excuse left ie the heavy ground. As such The JLT is his only Cheltenham option (Arkle pace too quick/RSA too far). And, if Faugheen turns up only better ground will he possibly gain revenge for the drubbing today.
If Laurina gatecrashes (she'd too sloppy to go Arkle) will Faugheen (surely Mullins will not want Laurina running too) head to The RSA instead to do battle with Champ? However, Faugheen is as short as 5/1 (10/1 best) for The JLT, and 25/1 for The RSA. |

By:
He wasnt hanging right today even when left alone , maybe he is frightened about putting a short one in, he took off far too early at one down the back and never banked it , i think he is a big baby and confuses himself prior to take off, its symtomatic of a horse that hasnt had enough practise changing his lead, im also unsure about the consistency of the stride pattern, he is an ideal davy russell ride at this stage, im. not sure young kennedy has the patience and understanding to rebuild his confidence
By:
Quite damning from Elliott, said he looked like he never had any heart, can't find anything physically wrong with him.
By:
Not sure there needs to be anything wrong with him. I am a long way from being a ratings junkie but if you look at all of his RPRs at 157 he was only just below his best at 161 and many ratings in and around what he achieved Boxing Day . Heaven forbid that he just ran to his ability. I have never in all my years of watching racing known a 160 horse be so ridiculously hyped. Maybe we can all just chill out now and appreciate a 160 horse in the same way as we do other high class but not elite level horses. He did not have a single line of form that entitled him to beat Faugheen or have I missed something.
By:
I think that was his true potential on Boxing Day maybe Faugheen could turn out to be just as effective over chases as hurdles. At least this time he stood up as both times he was challenged/challenging eg hurdle and chase he fell - maybe he was distracted or weakening at the time.
He's no 2nd Coming - that's for sure; take away his privileges eg no more special barn, but put him back along with the rest. |
By:
He's going for another check-up, according to Elliot, after downing tools like a chicken. I was hoping a heart transplant...
By:
He'd be running in handicaps. According to Eddie O'Leary: "We'll probably have to end up with a handicap mark now as he's going nowhere as a good horse. A good horse, he's not. He's going from cantering to emptying within two strides."
The bubble has truly burst even connections have finally come to accept. |
By:
The one-time "perceived" 2nd coming has been entered in a handicap race at Cheltenham this weekend. If running, will he win? Not so, if there's tussle at the end the way he capitulated against Faugheen at Limerick.
By:
In order for a trainer from Ireland to find out a horses official rating, they sometimes enter their horse in a race they have no intention of running it in.
I hope it does turn up as it will no doubt be favourite and make the market for some others in what is always a very good race, that produces lots of winners! |
By:
Impossible you are the biggest loon on here
Go back and read your posts on this thread It was you who was bigging the horse up As the best horse MOL would ever own That it would win the ballymore N enter the gold cup a year later Whilst MOL was telling you he wasnt the second coming Connections knew exactly what they had idnt take you long to go back to the racism You showed towards the irish last year |

Reckon it’ll be 153 if they are lucky, 163 worse case scenario.
By:
He's been allocated top weight of 11st 12lbs (OR 157). But, price of 12/1 suggests he's more likely a no show.
By:
With rain forecast for leopardstown and probable watering I doubt Elliot will run many at Cheltenham on Saturday
By:
Don’t think connections will be too happy with Dallas DP rating. Suspect they were hoping that two thumpings would sneak him in at 145. Tully East may have scuppered things for others perhaps.
By:
I think it’s fair to say they are distinctly unhappy...... article in today’s racing post
By:
This dog's entered in The Arkle (jumped into submission), Marsh (thumped by Faugheen) and RSA (stamina limited exposed). No handicap races though.

any updates
have a good day regards Ronnie. |

An unusual but deliberate low profile approach to Cheltenham by connections. Let's hope the horse psychiatrist can bolster his mind and deliver a good result next month.

Impossible
thank you for feedback have a nice evening regards Ronnie. |

H e doesn't need a Psychiatrist, he needs a Pulmonologist.
By:
He's had a wind operation since Limerick (defeat) where he did not scope well post race; far from certain for Marsh (work dependent next 2 weeks) or if heavy ground would be rerouted to Fairyhouse.
