I see that. He hasn't said source either although he does look fairly reputable.

Oops i thought it was confirmed already given the Peter Finch tweet as he's not the type to joke around given his connection with Racing UK. Looks like no one else has it yet.

he desperately needs the weather forecast to be correct, much more rain and i suspect nobody will be on him

Was just thinking it was a bit early to decide and that he would wait till he had more idea on the ground.

According to his owner he aint running in the Ryanair.
So I would think if its soft he wont be at Cheltenham.

I wonder if Ricci may regret that comment? I suspect not if the ground does dry out but if there is rain next week and he faces running in a soft ground Ryanair or Gold Cup he may reconsider and opt for the Ryanair. I can imagine the furore given that comment if this were to happen.

Anyway Eeternal, just cos the owner said that, dont mean its set in stone.

What possible reason could there be for declaring Vautour at the five day stage for the Champion Chase?
Might he run if something happened to UDS?

You would assume so if soft ground, then let 3 take their chance in Gold Cup for WPM.

It's still in the Champion Chase should anything untoward happen to UDS, according  to the Sporting Life online.

If it's soft and the horse is well then he will no doubt go in the Ryanair.

Where he should be running anyway.

it's not going to be soft by the friday though is it, if the weather forecast about drying conditions is correct.

Willie Mullins says he expects a "huge run" from Vautour in the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup next Friday.

Mullins feels last season's JLT Novices' Chase winner is coming to the boil nicely ahead of his date with destiny after having recently impressed on the gallops at home.

The County Carlow handler told The Sun: "Vautour has done far better work this week than he has in the last three (weeks).

"That tells me he should go for the Gold Cup. Every year at Christmas Vautour disappoints us a bit, and every year he improves in the spring and for the hill at Cheltenham. This year looks no different. We expect a huge run."

I'd be surprised if he isn't on Vautour. Which doesn't come from any source of which I have none. I just feel that he and the stable are in love with the horse.

Agree, "about to see something very special from Vautour"...in the Ryanair; if in the Gold Cup, an achievement if he stays and gets up the hill without being passed, win or lose.

I would think most of us have had a bet on the gold cup,but that wont alter Vautours chances in the race.

Yes, but laid off every penny on the Exchange and backed it with "nrnb" here and elsewhere - I just could not be messed about by the connections' disrespect to punters/race enthusiasts.

For instance, RR stated categorically no Gold Cup, horse stays in his box; now it's still in the GC, CC, and the Ryanair - it is mickey taking of the extreme.

Forget about the money, let's just enjoy the best Gold Cup in a very long time.
I have Vautour, and Cue Card. (I believe the King George form to be strong).
If I win or lose, I won't complain, it's gonna be electric.
By:

Agreed. I haven't had a bet and I'm very much tempted not to do so in order just to enjoy a race which could just be one for the ages.

I second that, with or without Vautour, and every runner finishes the race sound.

And now we see Vautour into 2.5 for the Ryanair (last matched at 3.05 and out from 5.5 for the Gold Cup to 7.2.)
Baffling if there's anything in these movements.

My guess is that Ruby has made his decision, and if its what I think it is then Mr.Ricci may well be thinking why leave the Ryanair behind when he's only Willie's third string GC horse?  Just my opinion but I think the Ryanair is the right race for him
By:

When: 15 Mar 16 00:58
I would seriously fear for the safety of w.m and r.r this week if the horse is rerouted at this stage. I think it's the right call personally but having broken the 'runs in g.c or stays in his box' news at the Bet**** preview there will be questions asked about a whole range of issues should this come to pass. Duplicity comes as standard from bankers of course, but as foolish as it may be people really do believe what they read. If he claims to have been misquoted by the r.p then why didn't Mullins see fit to clarify in his Saturday column? I reckon Ruby has chosen Djakadam and this is just a straightforward market reaction to that.

When: 15 Mar 16 01:03
I am aware r.r's racing manager backed Vautour for the Ryanair across the board in the aftermath of the King George so there will be at least one voice n the mix campaigning for a late switch of target and given Ruby will surely now be doing likewise it could be a very interesting morning in whichever hotel team moneybags are holled up in.

If walsh chooses to ride dkak he is basically saying that vautour won't stay, if that was the case this whole issue would have been sorted long ago and he'd have been a Ryanair runner ever since boxing day imo

Ruby was interviewed during the live broadcast and asked about what he rides in the Gold Cup and he said he was going to leave it late. Asked what would make his mind up he pointed to the sun and said, "that". He seemed to be implying that on good ground he'd ride Vautour. Mullins has said he's been trained for the Gold Cup. Ricci has said he goes in the Gold Cup or nothing. Anybody who has backed the horse ante post for the Gold Cup would have some choice words for them but I doubt that would bother them.
