Limini could show up at Haydock this Saturday. Another Willie Mullins talking horse that the stable hold in high regard. It will probably be unbackable even if it does turn up this weekend, but a good performance could see her go very short for the Festival.

BLOODY MARY entered up again and I'm looking forward to seeing her out. Backed her ew at 33/1 a couple of weeks ago and now top price 16s. Hoping for a bold show. She won 6 on the bounce in france 5 nhf races where she ties in nicely with buveur dair and won her only start over hurdles cosily. I'd be interested  to know how much jp had to fork out for her

Report quantize February 1, 2016 10:14 AM GMT
Trained by Nicky Henderson, the JP McManus-owned Bloody Mary, who has won her last six races in France, was declared for the 2m1½f novice hurdle for mares.

However, her first outing for new connections will have to wait.

Speaking before Fontwell cancelled, Henderson said: "She's a decent sort who we are looking forward to seeing on the course, and she could be one for the mares' novice hurdle at Cheltenham."

If Mullins had a mare who had won her last six would be shorter than limini.
Report Can't Catch Me February 1, 2016 10:18 AM GMT
Think thats a step too far quantize. 5 of the 6 were egg and spoon races. And Limini has won 5 on the bounce herself anyway, including beating a Group 1 filly on the flat and winning a race at Punch that has already produced 6 winners.

Her form is a level above BM as it stands.

Limini jumped terrible on Sunday but i wouldn't be unduly concerned as the ground was atrocious. It really looked like she was expelling a lot of energy just getting over the hurdles and yet she finished off her race very impressively. Looks like she has some engine.

Will love the better conditions at Cheltenham. Very exciting prospect.

Bloody mary declared for tomorrow looks a very good test as the nicholls horse who also won an aqps bumper and on her hurdles debut in france boast some very impressive form finishing infront of fixe le kap and only 3 length of choer du nord who is very good, the 2nd who he was a neck behind went on to fall in a race wich looked at his mercy then won well in his next race in a decent contest.
Also has some very interesting owners.

This! I've not watched all the mares races and I've no idea how good Limini is but neither do a lot of the people who want to back her at evens!

Smart Talk looked like she had a massive engine at Doncaster where she missed all of the last three hurdles (so there would have to be a concern about her jumping too). Her form is very progressive and I read her trainer had said she's put on 4kg since Doncaster. Downside apart from her jumping is that I think they were considering the other mares' race if AP does n't run.

Not even saying she'll win but she looks raw and tough - anything that beats her will know they've been in a race.

Report Can't Catch Me February 24, 2016 9:07 PM GMT
Praying they go for the big one now Rease! As you said, that's what the trainer said.... And they may think that's almost as easy to win as this with all the hype surrounding Limini.

Following Jers Girl's really impressive performance yesterday over 2m4f, and with two excellent Mares in the triumph in Apples Jade and Lets Dance, Limini won't have everything her own way at next year's festival.

For once, we might actually get a decent renewal.

FWIW, I think the form of the four year olds is far superior to anything Limini has done.  Even with VVM and Annie unlikely to run in it next year, 5/2 on Limini is very poor imo.
Report scooby91 March 28, 2016 5:17 PM BST
Limini dosent have to worry about let's dance chief, as unless she takes a grade 1 at punchestown, she will be coming back for the mares novice at the festival.
I'd be shocked if they diddnt retain her novice status for next  season, but im holding fire at 7s until I know she's retained it.
Karalee however may be pretty good, and end up in the mares hurdle instead of limini.
I wouldn't back limini for the mares as if she bolts up on the flat like max dynamite, we may not see her over hurdles again for some time.
Report wellchief March 29, 2016 6:39 PM BST
Didn't realise Lets Dance was still a novice.  I suppose her and Limini will be kept apart anyway.

I can't imagine that the Mares Novice Hurdle will ever be a race I have a bet on to be honest.  I was there on the Thursday this year, and I had a bet in each race apart from that.

Pointless.  Should just let the novices run in the normal mares, but give them a weight allowance or something.
Report ReaseHeath March 29, 2016 9:20 PM BST
Agree with scooby regarding Limini, can visualise a flat campaign starting in Chester and ending in Melbourne - but I can't find an official flat rating for her in UK or Ireland, unless anybody knows differently?

Presumably she'll get one when they make an entry? She'd need to be at least 90 to get in the Chester Cup based on the last three years.

I suppose they could wait for Royal Ascot but she might have a fitness advantage if they went for the Chester Cup - if they wait until Royal Ascot, they could for the Ascot Stakes on the Tuesday or the Queen Alexandra on the Saturday or even both!

Probably getting ahead of myself, but pretty sure we will see her on flat as Ruby said unprompted in an RUK interview how well handicapped she was - I assume he must have been basing that on her flat RPR though.
Report Can't Catch Me March 30, 2016 11:15 AM BST
Agree with scooby too and will be leaving Limini well alone. She has so many options and her price is already terrible.

I disagree on the other bit though scooby. Assuming RR wants to target the Mares Novice and the Mares Hurdle, surely Karalee would be the most likely for the Novices race, seeing how she is so inexperienced and missed the whole season with injury, and Let's Dance would be the more likely for the Mares Hurdle? She has much more experience now, even though she is a year younger? Obviously you have VVM to throw into the equation too which makes it tough to guess, but I'd be surprised if Karalee was pitched into the big girls race on her first visit to the Festival.

Im gutted Karalee isnt in the betting for the Novice Race as would definitely be backing her if she was.
Report Smart Predator March 30, 2016 6:15 PM BST
Karalee won in May 15 so I'm sure she won't be a novice next season. I initially thought the same about her.

As for Limini's hcap mark, Ruby mentioned off 89 she could go to Ascot well handicapped.
Report Satrus_Froot March 30, 2016 7:11 PM BST
Have to agree about the views on the mares novice race in general, it's just another Mullins benefit pot isn't it really? Of course all the Mullins bootlickers will tell you it's the best thing since sliced bread and so good for racing though. The bumper has plenty of critics but at least there's some kind of point to it.

Could you imagine the state of the festival if it did go to 5 days? A mares novice chase, a staying hurdle dedicated to chestnut horses. It'd be mad.

It has just appeared on the racingpost website that he is to be aimed at the Mares race at the festival.

This possibly might throw a few spanners in the works as regards any of us who's taken the 53/1 treble Faugheen/C'hdl, AP/Mares and Uno/stayers.

Must admit its thrown off guard a little bit too, could be backed at 14/1 this morning, is now into 12/1 in a place generally 10s and 8s now so bookmakers have clearly taken note.

If Limini was to take the mares route, where does that leave Annie Power? A tilt at the stayers or poss just stay in her box and wait for AintreeConfused

Limini on course for Mares' Hurdle tilt

BY BRIAN SHEERIN 6:48PM 16 JAN 2017

IF HISTORY is anything to go by, Willie Mullins will go on and train the winner of the OLBG Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham and the Irish champion jumps trainer has provided an upbeat bulletin on potential leading contender Limini.

"She has really come to herself in the past few weeks and is really pleasing me," Mullins said.

Stablemate and former festival queen Quevega landed six consecutive mares' hurdles throughout notoriously light campaigns but Mullins admits he would be eager to get a prep-run into Limini as he attempts to stretch his winning sequence in the race to nine.

"If I can get a run into her before Cheltenham I will but it might be hard to find a race for her now.

"Her main target at the moment is the mares' hurdle and she is looking like she is back to herself."

An easy winner of the inaugural mares' novice hurdle at Cheltenham last season, the Rich Ricci-owned Limini can be backed at odds of 14-1 to record back-to-back festival wins in the mares' hurdle in March.

Inexperience blamed for Mome reverse

Reflecting on Saturday's defeat of Crack Mome in the Grade 2 Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle, Mullins believes the five-year-old remains an exciting prospect and puts his defeat at Punchestown down to inexperience.

"He ran a bit green at Punchestown and he was just beaten by a very good horse in Any Second Now," Mullins said.

"We still think we have a very nice horse on our hands. I hope better ground would bring out a better performance and there are still plenty of good races to be won with him."
Report Can't Catch Me January 17, 2017 1:36 PM GMT
Its getting to the point where RR has so many horses that he cant keep splitting them all up. I dont think Limini really changes their main plan. If the 3 big guns and her all make it to the Festival there aren't really four different options for them anyway (assuming VVM is staying over hurdles).

They are going to have 2 darts at one of the races... I suppose its possible AP and Faugheen could take each other on if they think Limini is in rude health and up to winning the Mares... but Id be surprised.

I think its much more likely Annie and Limini run in the same race.
Report wellchief January 17, 2017 1:41 PM GMT
If Annie, Limini, Jers Girl and Apples Jade all run in this, it'll actually be a really good race and would probably be worth the G1 status it has got, rather than the joke it has been over the years.
