I believe Nicholls talked about the possibility of stepping Modus up in trip?
Which if that's true,surprises me.

Two good horses there. Hope they give Maputo a break now.

Yep, both look good prospects and both look to have a good attitude.  I flagged up Altior after his Chepstow win, but I think Maputo would have had him if he'd stayed sound...Hoping he is ok.

Well he definitely will get a break now!
Yes chief,let's hope he's ok.

Gutted at MAPUTO's career ending injury.

Loved the way he cantered round, drew level approaching the last and (even though badly injured) ran on up the hill to go down narrowly.

Never know now the heights he could have reached. But for me he was Fergusons best prospect of a festival winner to date.

He could be Barnesy but I think Yanworth is the better horse.

Well It could well be that Modus and Yanworth are in different races come March,BG could ride both then.
Although which horses in which race is guesswork at this stage, and probably will remain so for some time.

Modus - Supreme. They think his turn of foot is a weapon over 2 miles.
Yanworth - Neptune. Looks the liklier to stay the extra distance and Barry already saying he needs a trip - unless of course JP decides to throw the kitchen sink at the Supreme - it being a race he loves - regardless of what BG thinks.

Such a shame about Maputo, looked like he could have been a goodun.

Robbie McNamara was talking up Forgotten Rules for the Supreme on today's Final Furlong podcast. Said he should take to hurdles and supreme would definitely be the target with a run at Christmas and then early February before Cheltenham, 20/1 best price.

Both Yanworth's starts have been at 2m where he has won with ease. The two horses behind him at Exeter have both bolted in since too. Whilst they keep talking about his ability to stay further, they also mention his obvious speed. There is a 5f difference between the two races which is a big jump for a young horse. They may both run in the Supreme, should they prove good enough.

Think anyone backing Modus and Yanworth already face an uneasy time over the next months.
Both look fine at 2 miles, and both of their connections have said they could step up.
Fun and games of ante post .

Wait for Me and Yanworth both interesting me in the Win Any Race market at 10's, but don't want to go ahead and press the button when you know you're giving up half the odds straight away - then again, I doubt either of them will be shorter than 10's on the day for whatever race they go for.

It can be a lottery, the Win Any Race market.  Vautour was excellent for me last year at 6's, but I backed Shaneshill months before at about 8's, and he went off at 9's, but was a lot bigger than that in the week before the Supreme.

I think Robbie McN is worth listening too…………..last year he told us all Windsor Park would win the Neptune. This year he is telling us Forgotten Rules will win the Supreme. I am not going to ignore him again !!!

Yanworth looks different class to other GB novices seen so far but the races at Gowran might produce something special today.

Arrgh!! re:Moon Racer.  Backed it after last years Cheltenham Bumper for Supreme.

However still hope if he can get back early next year.   A horse that doesn't need a lot of prep and obviously goes best when fresh.

But doubt a horse ever won a supreme without ever jumping a hurdle in public?

Perhaps they will keep it a novice for 2017 festival?

I see there is a new horse added to the supreme market today at 14/1 Bamako Moriviere. Mullins and Ricci it appears.
By:

When: 24 Nov 15 19:23
Bamako isn't a novice the same as the wylie horse bonbon au miel isn't a novice. Don't know how they can get away with putting these in the market?????

Surely an ineligible horse should have any bets refunded/cancelled?

Probably beat nothing but I was impressed with that Petit Mouchoir, at this early stage in these races it's just gut feelings isn't it, but I got a good impression from that performance....I can see him in a supreme trying to go off in front and attempting to kill them off.

Does anyone know anything, or heard anything, about the Mullins/Ricci horse named TOWNSHEND ? Seems to have dropped off the radar and not been mentioned much by Ricci or anyone else for some time.

I think the words "could do better" spring to mind when describing Wait For Me's jumping!

Looks a good one, the winner.
By:
duffy
When: 27 Nov 15 15:56
You can't get too carried away with the winner with regards to the ease of victory against a horse with high class festival form because it was exaggerated by the fact that the favourite can't jump to save his life.
By:
wellchief
When: 27 Nov 15 16:17
I dread to think how many lengths he lost at every hurdle, plus he was running round everywhere between hurdles.  Only his third ever run but a long long way off the standard required at the moment.
By:
HaylingBilly
When: 27 Nov 15 16:45
duffy - I am not sure I agree with you on that one. Ignoring the jumping which is obviously a problem the winner absolutely left "the horse with high class festival form" for dead between the last and the winning post. And he was far better over his hurdles. Looks a very good Supreme option to me. Jumps well and speed. Wait For Me didn't look like a Supreme horse to me at all. Am I misreading or being too harsh ?
By:
duffy
When: 27 Nov 15 17:23
Hayling

You're quite right, I was being harsh on the winner, probably guilty of paying too much attention to the buzz horse, it does make you wonder how he'd been schooling mind you, he was so bad through the race I can't believe they hadn't seen exactly that on the gallops and yet there was little opposition to him in the market despite at least one decent rival.

Looks like Modus is being given the Darlan and MTOY handicap treatment before going to the festival (if all goes well)

And a nice form boost for Modus as well.

When: 16 Dec 15 20:09
For me, Yanworth has by far the best British form for the Supreme so far and I've got on him at 20/1. I can see him demolishing the field in the trial on Friday winning on the bridle and being no more than 10/1 for the Supreme after Friday.

When: 16 Dec 15 20:49
Sintonian - have you seen Modus has been given a mark of 134? That's ludicrously lenient to me and I've rarely been so matter in fact in thinking that a horse has 2 stone in hand of its mark. If they were toying with Tote Gold Trophy to Supreme beforehand, that must be a certainty now imo.
By:
sintonian
When: 18 Dec 15 21:50
Well, Yanworth would have blown his mark today. He is different league to Modus and i'm amazed anyone wants to back him for the Neptune. A strongly run 2m where he can sit handily will be absolutely perfect.
By:
sintonian
When: 18 Dec 15 21:51
134 is very lenient for Modus tho. That can still change a lot between now and Feb, mind.

Sometimes in life it pays not to over complicate things. Last three winners were ridden by Ruby, trained by Willie and owned by RR so I am going to keep it simple and look no further than MIN and/or TOWNSHEND (if he ever appears). They clearly target the race and they know what type of horse it takes to win it. And they believe they have another one in MIN. I like a simple life.
