The one piece of info I'd like at this stage is the current wellbeing of Pont Alexandre...still remembering just how bullish they were going into TNO's Neptune....wouldn't here of defeat....if he's sorted out and can come back then he's very interesting.

A definitive decision on More Of That's participation at the Cheltenham Festival could be reached by the end of next week. Sky Bet The Jonjo O'Neill-trained seven-year-old won the Ladbrokes World Hurdle 12 months ago when ending the unbeaten record of top Irish mare Annie Power, but was beaten on his return to action at Newbury in November and has not run since. He bled after exercise earlier in the week, and the defence of his Cheltenham crown hangs in the balance. O'Neill said: "We should get all his results back by Wednesday, I think, so we'll know more by the end of next week." |

Is it worth having a small bet on MOT for the WH in case they change their mind? It is beginning to look like the weakest Grade 1 race at the Festival. If he were mine, I would be aiming Fingal Bay at it.

Not imo.
Its not that bad a race even if you think it may be a weak grade1(I don't agree fwiw)that he can just turn up after this prep, the horse aint THAT good!! Im think its a deeper race than last year.Could not have him on my mind at all. |

I suppose it all depends on the result of the tests - i get the feeling they were very happy with the horse before this happened and after at fishers run yesterday i think they will be keen to run the horse if the tests return ok...jon jos horses continue to be in very good form

Fair enough. FB is not a chaser on the evidence so far and he won a competitive Pertemps, demonstrating that the course is right for him. Philip wrote him off as a World Hurdle contender after defeat at Punchestown but Saphir de Reu, Zarkandar and Reve De Sivola are hardly super stars are they? What else would you rate in the race? I agree that unless they have had it on their mind since the Hennessy, it is too late now to aim FB at the race.

Not sure how you can say 'horse aint THAT good' tbh.
Still very lightly raced and won a World Hurdle in very good style on just his fifth start over hurdles. Definitely would want him onside if turning up but I don't like antepost bets like this. Although I can see why some mate. Binocular was obviously with Hendo but the JP link is there. |

I think Budd was replying to my comment about Fingal Bay. More of That looked decent last year, but At Fishers Cross has not exactly advertised the form.

Don't think Fingal Bay is entered so we are back to the top 3 in the ante post market, Reve De Sivola if it is soft and More Of That if he runs-and any dark ones lurking in there somewhere. My only other general comment is that very very few horses stay 3 miles over hurdles at the top level so don't have a big bet on one that has not won over the trip.

At fishers cross is hurting. Has back problems, a friend said yesterday and i agree with him that like us humans with back problems we sometimes dont necessarily feel the pain until we are working hard and using those muscles. Very unreliable to use a horse like that

I don' see why there is the negativity around this race this year - not a poor quality race at all imo.
Really interesting betting race, with a Triumph winner, Champion Hurdle winner and a Coral Cup winner in it, along with the second (non injured) highest rated hurdler in England. Harsh to judge the likes of Saphir du Rheu, Lieutenant Colonel, Un Temps Pour Tout, Cole Harden etc as poor because they are only second season novices. Judge them after the race imo. |

Yeh he could be Sage,but then again.....
Would you back him on the day,if he turned up without a prep after a long break,with the only run this season being poor and a recent setback?? I think Big Bucks would have struggled in that scenario. |

If i am honest, and yes i have backed 2 of the 4 but I can't have repeat winners on my mind of any of the championship races this year. I don't think Jezki is as good and if i am wrong in that regard i don't think the race will be run in the same way as last which obviously suited so well, not taking into account that he DID show, (not does imo as hes only won the churdle once in the spring, what else has he done in at the fez
 ) how do we know he will repeat it if the race (unlikely) is run in the exact same way as last year?SDG Horses don't come back from injuries that involve bone or severe muscle tears, though this assumption could be blown out of the water after Tues morning when he has worked but then i also heard they were thinking of a handicap run at Chepstow next weekend if he works well? MOT we all know, or don't if his well being. Probably most likely of the 4 imo to retain his crown but have a feeling with the evidence we know about he is a one time winner LW CGC is stronger this year and for same reasons as Jezki in that race will be run differently as all races always never are run same way he will struggle in a more open looking year. I have Jez in my book for both the Churdle and CGC but only merely on a cover basis and more so for the possible place element of the bet. |

he ran last year off the back of a break after winning a minor grade 2 race very easy to write the horse off after running a poor race on bad ground when the trainers horses were struggling to win a race with any horse, not ideal what has happens but if he runs i would take it they are happy to run because they are happy with him but to say like you have you don't think he is that good is a bit silly considering he won last years race as a novice really and was clearly struggling with a breathing problem and a stable well out of form in his last race...always forgive a horse one bad run imo however what has happened is not ideal with the race just round the corner but he is the class horse in the race on all known form imo if he were to turn up |

You'd think he'll be going chasing next year whatever happens this year. With that in mind, I'd be wanting to protect him for the sake of a chasing career - maybe aim for the 3m Hurdle at Aintree, which is four weeks after the World Hurdle.

What I have said is I don't think hes good enough to win the WH after whats happened this season. Backing horses with that behind them is not for me. I also think this years race is better than last years. |

Ladbrokes WH NRNB con.
They have the proviso of rule 4 may apply and have more of that and annie power at the top of the market, so that would be a 30p in £ deduction making them the worst prices on the market. How can rule 4 apply before final declarations????? |

Ladbrokes do it every year, there is no rule 4 on antepost bets before final decs, no matter what the screens say or the market online say they will not apply it. I think when the trading rooms apply it to the markets the systems automatically display it and it is taken off after a couple of days. I had the same thing last year and the year before that. |
