MORE OF THAT is very unlikely to defend his crown in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival next month after breaking a blood vessel following a piece of work on Wednesday.
Trained by Jonjo O'Neill for owner JP McManus, More Of That ended the unbeaten run of Annie Power when scoring at Cheltenham last season but lost his own unbeaten record when finishing only third in the bet365 Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury in November. Wonder if WM would consider switching Annie Power to the World Hurdle now given he has Glens Melody in Mares race...I would doubt it but be interesting to find out.

Have to admit at having a little bit of the 8/1 NRNB for Annie in the World Hurdle.
Expect her to lineup in the mares, but I couldn't resist a zero risk bet at 8's. |

MOT missing the race takes some of the wow factor away now. But at least there are some unexposed improvers like SDR.

I think she can to be honest mate. I've said for a few months that this World Hurdle is wide open, and I can find a lot of flaws in all the principle runners.
I said on the Annie Power thread that I wouldn't be steaming in on her at evens in the mares because of her price with no runs so far, but at 8's in this, I think there is some juice in that. There are a few who we don't conclusively know if they full stay 3m at Championship pace, so it could be more of a speed race than usual, and she would be the speediest of them all (RoR would be a few years ago though). If there was an out and out stayer in there towards the top of the market, I'd be less positive. |

There's some proper stayers in this race mate,the Irish are all real 3 milers and weren't in the race last year. Personally I really think this is a better race than last year,and I can't see her winning with the season she's had....or not had!!

agree with budd a billion percent.
no doubt someone (not on this medium) will mention Quevega FTO year in tear blah blah but the WH is a pressure cooker. imvho The mares they can win with her 95% right (not much less btw). I think connections know this and havent really been touting the WH all year despite the cloud over MoT. AP might even have improved this year on a normal trajectory (so would MoT in fairness ) and so entitled to another crack. DESPITE that ......... the NRNB on the mare is tempting for the WH (as stated by earlier post) because if connections go for that she would need to have been showing something truly astonishing at home. For what its worth, I don't think she has enough in hand in the mares given the setback and lack of prep at the current price. Even if I am wrong this time on the day, I have faith in this approach. |

Yeah Gaz, I've even said on here she is not Quevega, so the fact that Mullins did it with her doesn't automatically mean he can do it with Annie.
The mares is the easier race, and I also think this World Hurdle field is better than last years. I think she should have ran in the Champion Hurdle last year too. I fully expect her to run in the mares, but as you say, she'll only run in this if she is spot on, especially with the mares being a G1, so its a no risk bet. She'll go off fav if she runs, despite the lack of a prep, so can always lay off. Re the stayers, I suppose we'll have to disagree Budd. Reve is the strongest stayer in this field, but runs below par in the WH. The likes of Zark, RoR, Whispher, UTPT are probably 2.5 milers to me. |

Lt colonel,Monksland and jetson will all stay well, and imo would be folly to dismiss them mate.

Not dismissing them at all mate. L Colonel would be one of my biggest winners of the week.
The reason I'm going off the Colonel abit is due to a stronger lineup now than when I backed him, and if Annie is added then it just adds to that. My concern re Colonel is that I'm not sure Jetson is good enough to win a WH, and L Colonel has only narrowly beaten him twice. I remember a while ago you said if L Colonel is 10's then Jetson has to be value at twice the price, and I can't disagree with that. |

I've got jetson and Monksland at fair prices and will be adding lt colonel on the day. I know some are pooh poohing their form In Ireland but I think they have been running well and all will run better on decent ground. I am also hopeful that Briar H I'll will appreciate better ground and ain't given up,on him yet.
I really think this is a real open race mate,with loads of chances. |

I am of the opinion that the Irish form is pretty weak. Seen most of the races in-person and watched them back a lot, and just don't rate them. That said, the Brits don't look a great crop, but I'd still prefer some of them over LC, Jetson et al.
Annie Power might have too much on to win it after the non-season she's had, but she'd be by far the best horse in it in my opinion. |

Annie would only have to replicate last seasons run to win,
but as we know had setback and 1st run back,surely go Mares race, hope not as backed her stablemate. |

Yeh,as I said Tom,you are not on your own in pooh poohing the Irish form. Let's see how they do on decent ground in March,you may be surprised mate. Monksland will be the better one imo,nicely improving as the season has been going.

I think Monksland would be the one I'd be most wary of bud, so agree there. I'd still be worried as to whether he'll be good enough. I know it's going back a bit, and Simonsig was a top-class novice, but I'd be concerned by the distance Monks got pumped on his only visit to the Festival so far.

Just rewatched it and he was hampered a lot worse than I remembered. Still not sure if he'll be good enough (guess we don't know if he retains all of his ability) but he's got his chance in an open year and the price is fair. I have backed Zarkandar and Cole Harden in this, but might have a tiny saver on Monksland too.

I think he's worth a saver for you mate. Not saying he will win of course,it's an open race,but I do think he's been trained patiently and has shown more and more as the season has progressed,and I do think decent going will bring about more improvement. Reckon he will be spot on come March and he will certainly stay well.

Do you not think he should have beaten Dedigout getting 5lbs? He's been off the track too and made his comeback in the same race as Monksland after Christmas.
Good ground will see him improve, but after two years out injured it would be a massive task for him to win. |

Yeah true, ground and course have suited him in the past. Backed him in his Neptune and remember him getting hampered, but by that time Simon had flew.
Without his injury I think he'd have a great chance, because I think he probably the classiest of the Irish, but its his injury lay off that just puts me off him. |

Absolutely fair points chief,and he has a bit to prove with his problems he's had.
If he's there on the day that's half the battle won, and would be just reward for connections patience. And if he is there on the day,I really think he's a big danger to all, and I reckon his price will enable people to have him on side,should they wish to. |

Race wide open which is good Budd,decent prices to be had like Monksland as backed Lt Colonel at big prices on here,so may have saver nearer day.

There is currently £4 up on here to back More of That at 27 and it has been there for at least 24 hours. I'm not saying he will run, but the fact that everyone on here is talking as though he definitely won't seems premature to me, particularly bearing in mind that this horse's trainer makes Willie Mullins look helpful when it comes to letting people know about what's really going on.

If MOT turned up with a walking stick I'd still be with him at 27's, take him out and it's as bad a WH as we've had for years IMO....AP should be re-routed to this race to provide it with a bit of class in MOT's absence....zark has been the racing equivalent of an extra for 2 seasons and he's pushing for favouritism.

I agree duffy = The World Hurdle needs Annie to run. The race is cutting up so badly it's untrue. I mean, at this rate, Zarkandar will have a chance and that's amazing really. Maybe Briar Hill will be reborn tomorrow - unlikley imo - but hey...
