Yeah there's plenty of time for one or both to get injured or for a few more contenders to emerge. This is the Triumph Hurdle not the Champion Hurdle - far less to go on and far more unknowns.

Think some people on this post need to calm down lol...a superstar??ive not been wrong before?and can't see anything bar the top 2 in the betting winning it?

Good performance yesterday.visually impressive.but let's see it run a couple more times before we get too carried away.......5/2 the top two is an absolute mugs bet at this stage I may add.bookies would lay that all day.

He did look top drawer yesterday, but I expect we have still to see half the Triumph Hurdle field have their first run. 6/1 too short for me when you don't know what you're up against 3 months before the race.  I'm not saying he won't win it though.

This is why I like antepost betting so much as you see a great performance and get your bet on before the price disappears. CV was quick off the blocks and he's got the value and now has options such as laying off as a safety net or just letting it ride if nothing looks to match it. Good work CV

Trainer Nicky Henderson looks to have a stronghand in teh JCB Triumph Hurdle in March after Hargam beat the rallying Karezak in the JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial at Cheltenham before Peace And Co routed his rivals in the bet365 Summit Juvenile Hurdle at Doncaster.
Henderson said of Hargam: "We'll work backwards from the Triumph. AP said that he isn't the biggest horse and that he was having to work quite hard on the ground, which was quite testing for him. He thought you'd see a slicker performance on better ground and said it rode like a good race.
"We knew the runner-up was a battler and I think that's why he decided to keep him away and not give him something to battle with, although in the hand I think our fellow might actually have been happier with some company as he was looking around a bit on his own there.
"There's a race here in January (Trials Day) but if it's heavy ground he'd miss that. I have a couple more juveniles to come out but he's up there with the best of them."
Hargam rates as a 14-1 chance at the Festival in March, but Peace And Co has been cut to 7-1 after his 19 length romp on Town Moor.
Henderson told Channel 4 Racing: "I hoped he would be something like that.
"What I saw there I was very, very happy. He was tanking the whole way through. He's a big, tall scopey horse."
Winning rider Daryl Jacob said: "He picked up in the home straight and he was very slick. He feels a bit special.
"We knew from his French form that he jumps really well and he was really good there."

Incredible performance if you take it at face value and tbh I am leaning that way. He clearly has a huge engine and a lot of speed but what impressed me most of all is that he literally snaps over his hurdles like Binocular did. You don't see it very often but he is a natural at getting over and away from his hurdles. The very best almost take a hurdle in their stride and this is what he was doing yesterday. I know he's going to probably line up in the Triumph but he's capable of being a leading Supreme contender which may be a race that would play to his strengths.

I'm with you on this one CV - he just took me back to Binocular's debut for Henderson at Ascot a few yrs back. However, like that yr, I'm conscious one of these good juveniles may go supreme route with weight allowance? I read Howard's update & trainer comments & took 25/1 (only for £20ew) yesterday morning - very impressed. If you gave me a free bet in the triumph I'd put it in Peace & Co at this stage. Really think he could be a future Champion Hurdler on first impressions alone (and French form really stacks up) but just worried could go Supreme. Name to be noted though

Impressive performance and hard to look into French form lines at the moment as the Nicholls horse who finished last in Peace & Co race beat Kalkir in France.

What I'm saying is that the performance was as taking as the three I mentioned. Where I rushed out to back Kauto, Hurricane Fly & Sprinter after watching one race which made me think, I've seen something utterly amazing here.

All three went on to be superstars. If Peace & Co doesn't turn out to be one then it'll be the first time I've been wrong with my effusive praise of a horse.

Im not saying I'm 100% right and everyone who disagrees is wrong. I'm only saying my opinion is he is a superstar in the making. To put context on it only 3 other horses have impressed me so much with single performances.

So which race led you to believe that Sprinter Sacre was a "superstar" then? He was certainly not a spectacular bumper horse and arguably not much better over hurdles?

All three went on to be superstars. If Peace & Co doesn't turn out to be one then it'll be the first time I've been wrong with my effusive praise of a horse.

Nothing surprises me in racing but given the horses size I'd have thought the more logical option for Cheltenham would be to allow him to stride along over the Triumph course which is far more open and suited to the bigger horse. The supreme course is sharper and favours nippier types.

If I can interject on that one, for me Sprinter announced himself as something special with his first chase run which if memory serves me correctly was also at Doncaster. There was something about it which suggested he had left his hurdles form which was very decent a long way behind.

My own view for what it is worth is that you don't tend to see that level of performance we saw with this horse very often. I've gone back over it and tried to crab it but I can't do it. It isn't as if he hits the ground hard like a true mudlark. He's run from the third last in a comparable time to the hurdle fought out by 135 type horses despite being much quicker to that point and pulling hard. Yet he wanders home in his own time whilst in the other race the winner was hard ridden all the way to the line.

Sometimes I make a deliberate choice not to over complicate things. My eyes have told me something and I see no reason to disbelieve them. I'd like bigger but I'll happily take the 6-1 as I just don't think another juvenile will put up a better performance in the run up to the race.

On a note of caution the last time I had this feeling about a juvenile it was Well Chief and he got nutted close home.

I think most people spotted SS and co were superstars... I don't really see how it has any relevance to this horse or its merits in March!

I'm not talking about anyone else sint. Just explaining my own awe at his performance is the same as 3 specific races from three previous horses which had my jaw drop and had me rushing to put big bets on them in March (I lost my Hurricane Fly bet as he never made the supreme). I'm saying rightly or wrongly I have been massively taken by Peace & Co and think he will go on to great things. Time will tell of course.

Not all opinions are right or wrong, but if you don't back your own ones in this game what's the point?

Madness backing a horse for the Triumph at 6/1 at this stage...complete madness.
We don't even know the opposition yet, time after time year after year the Triumph horses are not all seen till the new year, and sometimes later.I don't care how visually impressive a 3yr old is over hurdles, and theres a lot more to do to be labelled a potential superstar...but having said that I guess a lot of horses are potential superstars, just not many turn out to be.
Good luck though CV and anyone else going mad about him, I shall watch with interest as to how hes looking later in the season.
As for betting,no Triumph wagers for me in  December, plenty of other races where I have more of an idea on the likely runners is what I will be concentrating on.....for now.

Totally agree. All this fuss over one run although I do admit, as above, that it looked good but the hype is way over the top.

I hear also Timeform waffling on about figures and time etc...well all I hear are the connections waffling on about Hargam rather than Peace & Co. Heard the same pissh about My Tent or Yours before the Supreme and got beat. Wait and give it a couple of runs. Christ, only on Friday Kalkir was unbeatable lol.

As for "I've never been wrong etc etc"..same guy harped on about Hurricane Fly in last seasons Champion Hurdle and it got pumped (again).

By:

I'd have thought he'll be on this one as he's stable jockey. It was reported on Saturday that Jacob is retained to ride when the stable jockey doesn't.

Doesn't matter anyway. McCririck could ride with Fat Al sat on his shoulders dragging a cart of coal behind them and he'll still be tapping his watch as the others stagger home strung out like washing in a hurricane. Wink

Wow, Timeform given him a 155p. I'm not surprised tbh.

Why I'm utterly in awe of the performance is not just how his hurdling was so slick, but the speed he was going when crossing the line. He had buckets left in the tank and he believed he was still waiting for a race to start. Go back and watch Sprinter Sacre's Chasing debut and the speed and gallop he was sustaining over the line. For a 3yo having his first run of the season to post that time, that easily in a common canter.

It's just astonishing. I know it's slowly going to get hyped to the moon for the rest of the season, I know it's a juvenile and who knows if it'll repeat the form nto etc..

But if you can't get excited about horses like him, what's the point? Love
By:
buddeliea
When: 15 Dec 14 19:01
For me personally, its a case of taking the sort of price he is for a race like the Triumph in December after one impressive performance.
Yes, one can get excited, but at this stage hes had 1 race here...that's it!!

I, and I would think others, get excited about certain horses, but hailing the next Pegasus after seeing one run??
Not for me.

As I said though, good luck CV, and look forward to seeing him throughout the season.
