Once the deed is done, it might be interesting to see how much we have on between us and what effect - if any! - it has had on the market. It's a bit of fun all right F and as they say in Ireland, 'if you don't put it down, you can't pick it up'.Grin

We're getting the numbers and I'm guessing the stakes will be left down to those who play and the attitude of the bookies at the point the bets are placed.

How is this all going to be organised though?

I don't have any online accounts with bookies so I would have to be in a betting shop at the moment the picks are released. Therefore I would have to have access to the web / e-mail. I would have to be in said bookies at smack on midday on the Monday (assuming thats when the coup is going down), which will mess with my plans for travelling down to Cheltenham.

All of this is achievable and I'm committed to it just purely for the 'fun' element - if we do score at all then we have an even bigger logistical nightmare of organising the biggest p1ss-up in history to celebrate!

I think everyone who is 'in' should also commit to reining in their ego's and punting whatever the selections are, rather than arguing over the pokes / races. By all means have a say and argue a case for a horse, but final decisions should be granted to the person(s) who organise this as a reward for what will be some level of effort on their part.

The reward will be the reaction from the bookies to it.

Any winnings would just be a bonus.

yes been thinking about the timing and  what with people travelling and working on the Monday the Saturday  afternoon before the festival when the shops are busy with horses and footy bets could be ideal .

^ I've been wondering the same.

Also, agree totally that the reward is the fun, and the potential to strike fear into the bookies by orchestrating a nationwide plunge at the same precise moment. For that reason, one and all will have to accept whichever the final selections are. It's virtually impossible to come up with some that everyone will be happy with, so we'll all have to agree to just go with it.

Am wondering if there is some way of doing this off here, too. I don't for one minute think we have the clout of Barney Curley, but I know for a fact that bookies do read these forums and likely have moles among posters. For that reason, I'm not sure how much detail we should be putting into the selection process on a public forum. The thing in our favour, based on the release time that everyone will be aware of, is that even if we have moles among us, there won't be time for them to react as we'll all be ready to wager away the second the official word is given.

good work tomdeane we can send pms out which I have started doing already really just wanted to see how much interest there was, although it seems every  one who has been approached has seemed really keen ,, reckon a few more days of sounding out more participants and then shut up shop and pms only ,regarding selections I will be happy to select 1 of the 3 much nearer the time ,we will need a handicap guru to sort out the handicap plunge .

what is most important is numbers, the more participents the bigger clout of bets  nationwide  hitting at a precise given time will cause panic .

I'm in, but are we now having 2 seperate plunges then? Three selections on championship races and three from handicaps or just one? Ive kinda skimmed through this thread and it does seem like a very good idea if well executed!

My only worry would be if it were posted live on here. I think it needs to have its very own facebook page which can be made secret where people need to request to join. Then the selections then get inboxed to all members of said page then it is up to them to place said bets as quickly as possible.
