The next Preview Show is the NATIONAL HUNT PREVIEW on Thursday 6 March 2014 and the confirmed guests are Club President and Racing UK presenter LYDIA HISLOP, racing pundit STEVE MELLISH and the Daily Mail's Robin Goodfellow SAM TURNER.

The full panel will be confirmed in March.

Get there from 7.15pm for an 7.45pm start.

There is no entry fee for members who bring your membership card along and it is £10 for Non members.

just found details of the ayr one, it's a dinner 750 for table of 10!! will somehow be able to give that a miss!

abbott you're a persuasive man!  i'm off to middle east on business tomorrow and due back Thursday, if all goes to plan then ayr and the preview on Friday, I'll check the last race once decs are out but either way thanks to the info below I should make the start, I have what my mate once referred to as a 'gamblers walk'!

Went to the Aintree preview night this evening. Good night, nothing outlandish learned but one of two interesting comments. Brief write up below.

CL – Charlie Longsdon
BP – Ben Pauling

Supreme
BP: Splash of Ginge has to be considered after winning Betfair Hurdle, will not be easy to pass. Vaniteux goes here after an excellent bit of work the other day. Not much mention of Josses Hill.
JP: Irving.
AH: Top 4 head and shoulders above the rest, two chasing types (Vautour, Josses Hill) against two speed types (Irving, Wicklow Brave). At the prices, Wicklow Brave, but concerns regarding jumping.
There were a couple of positive mentions for Wilde Blue Yonder.

Arkle
CL: Can’t have Dodging Bullets, not good enough. Champagne Fever fan.
BP: Champagne Fever one of the good things of the week.
JP: Very bullish regarding Trifolium’s chances.
AH: Trifolium is an each way bet to nothing.

Champion Hurdle
CL: The New One, has a lot of time for horses coming back from 2m4f to contest the Champion Hurdle.
BP: My Tent Or Yours killed Nicky Henderson’s dog. Likes The New One for same reasons as Charlie.
JP: Keen on The New One. Can’t see Our Conor winning.
AH: My Tent Or Yours is an e/w cert.

Day 1 notes:
Quevega’s preparation was questioned after Mullins admitting she wasn’t completely impressing him so they eased off her. Ben Pauling said that perhaps she is like Simonsig, who would go off the boil if you started to do too much with him at home. Thinks the fact they’ve laid off Quevega could be a positive and bring her spot on if a similar thing applies to her.
CH: Pendra should be giving 10lbs to the field in the novice handicap chase, not receiving 3lbs. Best horse he’s trained, a 150+ horse and best chance of the week. Hopes AP rides.
AH: Same race, likes The Romford Pele as very well handicapped. Also Firth Of Clyde will appreciate step up in trip for astute trainer.

Neptune
CL: Killala Quay was sick last time out but is his best novice. Has an e/w chance. Would run Red Sherlock in the Albert Bartlett and cites Tom Scu saying that he’d find it hard to get off Red Sherlock (for Kings Palace) if they did go to the Potato Race. They won’t go there though as they don’t want to take KP on. Also puts up Rathvinden each way.
BP: Red Sherlock. Royal Boy is not quite good enough.
JP: Red Sherlock.
AH: Red Sherlock, has a huge engine, plenty of speed.

RSA
CL: Smad Place and O’Faolains Boy each way, very highly regarded by Rebecca Curtis.
BP: Smad Place is made for Robert Thornton.
JP: Smad Place has found some speed/zip from somewhere this season.
AH: Ballycasey won’t stay, goes with Morning Assembly. Likes Sam Winner and Le Bec of home team.

Champion Chase
CL: Doesn’t know. Not Sire De Grugy though.
BP: Simonsig was 30lb below best in the Arkle, makes Baily Green look better than he is. Barry Geraghty likes Captain Conan’s chances, BP thinks he is just a good work horse and falls asleep in his races.
JP: Baily Green is a price.
AH: Keen on Hinterland especially each way NRNB.

Coral Cup:
CL: Magnifique Etoile is badly handicapped, will have a better chance at Aintree.
AH: Clondaw Kaempfer has a good chance according to Donald McCain.

Fred Winter
BP: Trains Raven’s Tower, will travel, will stay, might not be able to quicken with them. Good mention for Pearl Castle.
AH: Owns a bit of Rutherglen, now handicapped out of the Fred Winter, sporting chance in Triumph.
Very positive mentions for Sea Beat, Powder Hound, and Spaceship here. Baradari is supposedly best chance of the week for Venetia.

Bumper:
AH likes Kilultagh Vic very much, very impressed with his speed lto to destroy Golantilla. Ruby Walsh rides apparently.

Cross County:
BP: Quantitativeeasing will have been schooled to the minute for this. He was always a very good one for them and wanted to run in the National but couldn’t due to not having won a 3m chase. Was always best when creeping round. Has a lot of ability, will definitely stay and will be hard to beat.

JLT:
CL: Oscar Whisky.
BP: Oscar Whisky, very bullish on his chances.
AH: Felix Yonger good ground form is best in the race, Sizing Gold on decent ground has a good chance. May be a year too soon for Vukovar.

Ryanair
CL: Dynaste is an autumn horse, likes Al Ferof.
BP: First Leiutenant, spring horse.
AH: Dynaste or Benefficient.

World Hurdle
CL: Nicholls definitely wanted Big Buck’s to win last time out, would have had him ready, and as such thinks BB is on the wane. Goes for Annie Power.
BP: Likes At Fishers Cross who has been given the Binocular treatment of returning from Ireland a different animal.
JP: Big Buck’s.
AH: Big Buck’s not as good now. Rule The World posted good speed figure last time out and Dunguib franked form.

Triumph:
CL: Calipto looks good, Le Rocher need soft ground.
JP: Likes Broughton. Calipto might find it a year too soon.
AH: Has a part of Rutherglen, decent e/w and Pricewised now. Not sure if quite good enough but Maguire booked and has been for a long time. Calipto ran the last circuit on Betfair Hurdle day quicker than Splash Of Ginge did in the Betfair Hurdle.

Albert Bartlett
CL: Briar Hill each way banker, went to say the word “banker” and cut himself off. One of the best Irish horses. Urban Hymn each way.
BP: Doesn’t like Kings Palace. David Bass rode Captain Cutter in work recently, is in the form of his life.
JP: Briar Hill screaming out for 3 miles, Ruby said we’ll see a “savage” performance when he goes 3m.
AH: Likes Kings Palace on speed figures, Champagne West at a bigger price.

Gold Cup
CL: Between the top two in the market.
BP: Last Instalment. Good ground is a positive for Bobs Worth, who might drift close to the off due to not being much of a looker.
JP: Bobs Worth. JP has been doing plenty of aftertiming, my notes read.

Other comments
JP: Keep an eye on Tom Bellamy’s ride in the handicaps for the Pipes.
BP: Ericht is hard to get right but keep an eye in running if travelling okay.

Charity Bets:
CL: Briar Hill, O’Faolains Boy
BP: Red Sherlock, Smad Place
JP: Bobs Worth, Montbazon.
AH: Vibrato Valtat, Imperial Cup. Red Sherlock and Kilultagh Vic.
