I have had an interest at 16/1 and gutted he isn't going not purely financial but I agree with other posters horses can go wrong at any time and the chance may be lost I will try and get my money back by laying the fly as I just cannot see him winning

Willie doesn't want anything in the race that could beat H Fly......it's madness not to run Annie Power or UDS
By:
The Fly is so underestimated on here its ludicrous he has beat all before him and people still have a go
uds could be anything and so could ap but the Fly is the real thing how many times does he have them prove it before people believe |

the fly stays 2 and a half,so it doesnt matter how fast they go,ive backed jezki and do hope its more prominent though ! Yes, it does matter as Zarks performance last year shows, how many people who were hoping that he wouldn't get out-paced were getting excited as he stayed prominent off of that pace last year....trouble was, it killed him doing it and when the staying part kicked in he was gasping for air!!! |

just dont think it matters to the fly how they run Finally somebody said it. People keep confusing the fact that his rivals need a fast pace either to settle ala MTOY or so that they don't end up in a sprint finish. But Fly can and has won races in any manner. Slow run or fast run. Matters not to him he has everything you need from a Champion Hurdler. |

be intresting to see if mr mullins changes his mind about them pathetic excuses bout hard race an to young if fly gets injured he must have known weeks ago that if hf stays sound uds wont run hes far from punter friendly in my eyes an hf has lost credibility knowin good horses have been
taken out for his benefit |
By:
he wins sprint finishes,he wins staying races, good ground soft ground heavy ground,it doesnt matter !

I like Willie Mullins, great trainer and a gentleman...... but imagine what racing would be like if he alone handled the top 10 rated horses in each division? Would he just send his "best horse" or would he let any of the other 9 run?
By:
It sort of does matter. A slow pace would inconveinance HF the least of all the key players.
By:
Looks to me like Mullins and JP have the opposite issue. Mullins wants to kill the pace, and JP Mac wants it teed up off a good clip. Does Mullins risk not running UDS, when the only sensible option for JP Mac is for Jezki to set a strong pace(he wouldn't win off a slow one), thus heighening his own chances and giving MTOY a better opportunity off a decent pace. Don't write off Our Conor btw. He's a true player here.

doesnt the owner of uds have a say in this
By:
Mullins should make best decision for UDS and not anything else, you may only ever get one shot at a race. What would Micheal Dickinson do if he had these horses.
By:
Agree with the above - can't understand this planning for next season already and all that could in between! How many horses has Mullins lost this season - Sir Des Champs, Rubi Ball, Un Atout, Pont Alexandre, Union Dues, probably a few more that I'm forgetting!
By:
It ould appear the owner of uds does what he's told. Presumably WM has fed him the "yesterday's race took too much out him" line and what can he do realistically ? Removing the horse from the yard would look his only option if he is not happy but there is no suggestion publicly this is tge case. That is a drastic step and upheaval of routine now would almost certainly rule the horse out this years CH anyway. Tough situation for connections.

Lets not sit on the fence. It is a disgrace really if UDS does not run. It's all my ar5e saying it's best for his career and he would need a new jockey. Mullins could've put someone else on yesterday.
It's also a disgrace id AP doesn't run. Clearly this race is made for her, maybe she'll win the World Hurdle but on all visible form it's the wrong race. Hurricane Fly is a brilliant horse win or lose, but he needs to beat these as well or this rais IMHO will be slightly tainted and it should be the stand out race of the festival. Willie Mullins do the right thing. Rant over and good luck to all horses, may the best horse win. |

surely JP Mac team will supplement a pacemaker if UDS out?
By:
Maybe JP will buy UDS?
![]() |
By:
you would think the mullins team would give some idea on ap target, its probally depends on the going but they must know which race they will go for under certain conditions
By:
Was there ever a chance UDS would ever run in this?odds on betfair tell you all you need to know as they do Annie Power
By:
Far too much conversation about pacemakers.its the Champion Hurdle.theyre not gonna crawl round like a daft 4 runner in Ireland
By:
Amazing amount of laughable stuff posted on here today. If Hurricane Fly wins a 3rd champion Hurdle and 20th Grade 1 next month it will be "tained" or that he will have "lost credibility". UDS was 7th fav for the race ffs.
Think people who backed TNO or MTOY are annoyed that the big pacemaker is not running and are saying some daft things tbh |
By:
these young guns wont be crawling up the hill like last years lot are bet u that this field is top class the fly is there for the taking and im convinced were see a new young champ this year!
By:
cv byrne he was 7th fav because w mullins wouldnt let people know he was definitely running same as annie power would be 6/1 if she was
By:
Imagine the scenario. Un De Sceaux makes all to win the Champion Hurdle. Hurricane Fly is under pressure before halfway and eventually drops away to finish well beaten and out of the places. I suspect that is vision that has been haunting Mullins all season. Clearly the man is looking at nothing else other than the horse getting the third win.
By:
I think people are saying that UDS and AP would enhance the race and are annoyed that Mullins (it appear) is trying to ensure that HF has a better chance of adding a third win.
Ruby has said that both UDS and AP are good enough to run. It does appear Mullins feels one them can beat HF and there is definitely a worry that UDS will set it up for the younger brigade (MTOY, TNO and OC). Forty |
By:
Supporters of the new one and Tent shouldn't be bothered about pacemakers. No pacemakers were required when The New one destroyed Rock on Ruby and Zarkandar and also when he and Tent were miles clear in the Christmas Hurdle.
Certain supporters of Hurricane Fly a bit too overconfident one feels. Already been beat at odds on in this. |
By:
And UDS would be nowhere near 7th fav if the trainer wasn't in love with Hurricane Fly
By:
I've backed OC and TNO, and I'm not arsed at all about the loss of UDS. It'll be run at the pace at it will be run at and I still believe that HF is beatable this year.

By:
Is it not just the case that Mullins thinks UDS has no chance of beating HF (esp without Ruby, and it has to be taken into account because there's no way he'd not ride HF), so there's no point in giving it a hard race it won't win after a poor prep (ie no true test of its engine)?

Age catches up with us all BJG. It,a not crabbing a great horse. I was a big fan of Moscow Flyer but I new his reign would come to an end eventually.

doesnt look like its gonna get beat anytime soon, could understand if it had came out and lost this season !

I think BJG was agreeing with you Fory, as do I. Not crabbing HF at all, but if these two are NRs, the race will be the poorer imo. Could end up with 7 runners if the no-hopers decide to drop out too assuming that Willie leaves TS in.

Either they know how good he is (or isn't) and are just bare faced lying to the general public....... or they genuinely don't know, in which case it's s no-brainer - UDS should run |

I was agreeing with u forty - nothin to do with bettin here, i just like the horse and am a sucker for a trailblazing speedball! Gutted he aint runnin - was a massive unknown i was looking forward to seeing up in class
