That sounds very tempting.

I am still recovering mentally, and financially, from his fall at last fence in last years RSA and then falling again at Punchestown. Cant see him being quick enough and staying upright over 3m2f against the big boys at Cheltenham. Back In Focus is the last years Novice I think might handle it better.

Just he traveled very well in the RSA before he fell he would of swooshed in if he stayed on he's feet. This horse has loads of gears, hopefully ruby will choose it I can just see this and Bobs Worth kicking for home up the hill.

Yes, it was dreadfully disappointing |

maybe i was karma that he fell after the previous year..

Read the ts & cs from Victor. I got sucked in last season

What went wrong willie?
I can't seem to find the specific t&c's for the NRFB offer - anyone got a link? |
By:
nrfb was a godsend for me last season, and I shall be using it a fair bit for Chelt again.
Just make sure you read the rules as willie says. |
By:
fair terms from BV, get up to a monkey back. I got a nice few refunds last year tbf
|
By:
Some fair prices on the novice events where running plans are most 'up in the air' - might have to start having a dabble.
|
By:
Is it restricted to a monkey back on each race - i.e. if you back 4 horses for £50 in the Arkle and they all don't run you only get back £50?
If soemone can post a link to the t&c's I'd be grateful. |

Found them:

Didn't take advantage of this VC offer last year but having had a look at the races that are available there do seem to be some fair long range bets given you get £50 back as free bet if it's a non runner (£100 max per race). Full T&C's above.
My opening £50 win bet is Chatterbox @ 25/1 for the Jewson. |

Why Chatterbox mate? Anyone else dig out anymore value in the BetVictor markets?

Chatterbox was a very decent, if unflashy novice hurdler who was only 8/1 for a very strong Neptune last year. Henderson had been saying all season that he would miss Cheltenham (similar to when Sprinter Sacre was a novice hurdler) but in the end the temptation to run ws too much. He only finished 4th but made umpteen little mistakes as Gerraghty had him in last place on the inside and to my eyes he was getting unsighted at his hurdles as those in front took off just before him - something which is a particular bugbear of mine. He was also impeded on the home turn.
Although he's won his novice hurdles over 2m I don't see him as an Srkle type, and equally he's not an obvious RSA type. He has been compared very favourably to Bobs Worth by Henderson: Henderson said: "He doesn't do anything spectacular at home, but he's very good when he goes on a racecourse. He's so like Bobs Worth it's untrue." Given his connections and obvious potential he could esily be favourite on the day - if he doesn't take to chasing or goes elsewhere I still get my stake back on the day. Whats not to like. |
By:
* He was 9/1 for the Neptune.
|
By:
Interesting! Al take your advice and have a dabble, thanks my friend.
|
By:
A very wise decision.
I've got some big fancies for the novice hurdles but VC haven't got any markets up for them yet. |

BetVictor?! If your account is still open, you need to close it

gold cup horse
|
By:
I wouldn't be surprised to see him run into a place as he stays forever. as does his stablemate who won the 4miler with his c0ck out
|
By:
Not sure Bob would have won the RSA had he stayed up, but Mullins thought the world of him a season back. Would never put people off backing 25-1 shots but I'd be surprised if he's up to the job really.
|
By:
is it comedy club night this horse has absolutely no chance in a gold cup, he might run into a place in a national though
|
By:
very rude post ^
|
By:
i think it was running on empty in the sun alliance so it certainly wont win a gold cup never mind a grand national !
|
By:
was running on empty because the jockey used up his energy quickening around the bend. Almost certainly contributed to his fall. That said, I'd want 40/1 for the GC and looking at his handicap rating the GC will not be the main target this season i'd say.

I think Bobs Worth will win it back to back but I agree with the original poster, Boston Bob is the only horse I could see beating him. People forget that Boston Bob wasn't really right at all last season and which is why Ruby chose the wrong horse for the RSA. But given another summer on his back, he must have a chance of progressing this season and if Ruby rides him then he could finally fulfil his potential. But I would give him next to no chance with Paul Townend on his back, brainless ride at the festival, as Sintonian says he was needlessly rushed up via the car park through a panic type manoeuvre. I don't understand how people can say the horse has no chance in the Gold Cup, realistically I can't see why any horse Bobs Worth beat last season would reverse form, the RSA winner I think got lucky on the day and for me doesn't look the type to progress (Boston's Angel type to me), I don't think S Conti properly stays the trip at Cheltenham which doesn't really leave much else.
|
By:
Well we have Sir Des Champs who weren't far behind Bobsworth, and we have Al Ferof hopefully,SConti was running a big race and Boston Bob will be improving I should think.
I too think Bob could well win again, but hes got some real threats imo. |

people maybe underestimating lord windermere who did stay right up the hill, just isnt with a big name stable !

Is Invictus back this year beat Bobs Worth from memory
|
By:
Bobs Worth had a breathing op after that ace, Invictus wouldnt see which way he went around Cheltenham

Older & stronger this year. Perfect for Gold Cup. Wouldn't have won last year so stand by that the Ryanair was the right race but was evidently one paced in 2nd. Now it has to be the Gold Cup.
|
By:
LOL.
He was in the wrong race due to owner politics, something his backers AND trainer said all along. He will be 9 next March. The only improvement he has to come is mentally via experience. 16/1 is a fair price, again. |
By:
Any news on Boston Bob?
|
By:
Nope, thought he would have had entries in the Hennessy and John Durkan but none. Really hope he has not had a set-back.
If you have a Racing Post account you can send them a question to put forward to Willie in his Saturday column for the paper. I would do it but I don't subscribe. |

One really needs to read the T&Cs asociated with the nrfb before making a bet.
