Alleged...I'm on at 10/1 also but needs to be a good performance tomorrow to justify that. Would be going to festival with only 2 runs which isn't ideal but Boston Bob would've won last year if he'd jumped the last with only 2 runs. Don Cossack is gonna be a hard nut to crack tomorrow as the small field and trip will be right up his trip. The 10/1 was taken long ago by me in anticipation of him having had 2/3 runs by now

Yep,big day tomorrow for those on Ballycasey,runs well im confident he will be fine for March.
Got nice odds for the RSA as I took a chance before his 1st race,be nice to have that rewarded. |

Defeat isn't the be all and end all though. Had Lord Windermere beat in this then go and win.

Exactly,a good run will be fine.
Main thing for me is seeing him out again, proving hes ok and getting more experience. Should hopefully help to get him where they want to have him come March. |

I thought Sam Winner ran a blinder over a trip and ground that was alien to him. ANd he jumped so well.

Totally agree re Sam Winner, this horse wasn't particularly on my radar for RSA but think he is getting better and better with experience and looks great value now as would be more than hopeful that Nicholls has left a bit to come.

Yeah. I was hoping that performance would go under the radar, but on better ground i expect him to go very well in the RSA.

Yep, we all think triumph horses stay but to stay 3miles in a bog is very good when we all had doubts and he will like better ground, if he jumps like today he will go close in the rsa.

Yeh,over reaction by the bookies imo re Smad Place.
Will be interesting to see what they do with Sam Winner,cos I still think he would be interesting on better ground in the RSA.If they do decide the RSA then it does put SP in a better light for the RSA I guess,but if they choose 4 miler then i really don't know what to think as re horses that SW has been running against!! AS for today,i think it depends who wins alleged and how Ballycasey performs. Ballycasey wins hes probably 4 or 5's?? If he runs well after his setback and just gets beat I think he will be fav,maybe slightly bigger at 6's. Should one of the other 2 win,i suspect they will be a bit bigger,about 8's would be my guess. |

Winner today will definitely go favourite for RSA. If Boston Bob had stayed upright last years RSA 1-2-3 were 1-3-4 in Moriarty……. dem oirish 3m novices are tough.

Can't believe people are ruling out Many Clouds and Le Bec, their form is very strong indeed and they run at Ascot next. Still overpriced!! Their is no standout amongst the Irish horses.

smad has just won a pretty average race on dire ground yet the books shorten him 3 points, so in a much better quality race today, how much will the winner shorten..... |

Haven't backed Balleycasey for any race, so from a neutral point of view, I see no reason why he shouldn't stick to 2m4f.
Apart from the second last, he jumped slickly and travelled well and stayed all the way to the line. With Champagne Fever looking less likely to go for the JLT, if I were Mullins I'd seriously consider it for Balleycasey as that was a very impressive performance. I'm not sure a slog around the RSA is what he wants on what will be only his third chase start. Carlingford Lough caught my eye for the RSA as he looks an out and out stayer. |

Still dont see apart from Bally just then why and other horses should be shorter than Smad. Thats all mate nothing to do with me backing him. I backed Oscar Rock for the Neptune, but dont think he should be fav  |

To my eyes, the top Irish novices look a lot better than the English. Can see a clean sweep of the three Grade 1 novice races myself. Sam Winner ties in with all the top English ones and I don't think he's get a look in over the water.

True but they cant all be that good. With the exception of Ballycasey they keep beating each other. He's the standout

I have backed Ballycasey way back but reckon he may be a bit fragile and its the tough ones who win the RSA but I would believe CF is the class act.

2 chase runs is still a big problem for Ballycasey in the context of an RSA. He may have been impressive but he needs to overcome his preparation. He is making the market for others now.

Starting to look a bit thin behind ballycasey to me...two of the first 4 in the market look like they'll be better in the 4 miler (SP and CW) the mere fact that CW is single figures suggests to me that there isn't great depth of quality.MA has been beat by CL and ruby won't be on him either...Thought that bally is a fair favourite now.

2 chase runs is still a big problem
I wonder if that will be quite as true this year, now that the JLT provides a third Grade 1 novice chase option, which might (or might not) make the RSA less competitive than in the past. |

Florida Pearl won the RSA after 2 novice chases and Cooldine 3. Both won the Moriarty.
Ballycasey won despite his preparation. He beat Don Cossack, who has good lines of form with the other top Irish staying novice chasers fair and square, despite either not being fully fit and/or connection concerns about the ground. The betting told us that. However, he has to get there - didn't last year! - and there must also be a possibility that he will contest the JLT on heavy ground, as Felix Yonger probably wouldn't show under those conditions. |

gevrey chambertain could be the final instalment in the Grands crus dynaste, trilogy directed by D, Pipe...where initially the main character in the story pi55es up, getting everybody excited in the process before flopping on the big stage....to this end, he'll be worth keeping an eye on for his debut....the script says he'll lead all the way on saturday and win by about 10 lengths

Gevrey Chambertain has been entered and not declared in about 5 chases since he won the Fixed Brush Hurdle. No idea what is happening with him.
I am guessing Emma Lavelle has not entered Le Bec due to the ground conditions. She has said previously she would have no problem sending him straight there as he has had 3 runs over fences. To my mind, if Many Clouds wins the Reynoldstown then he'll go into the race with the perfect profile and the best prep. |

its horrendous apparently I cant be rsed to get the figs but the last time it was done, piggot was an apprentice .....well maybe not ! but its not a good stat !
