Up and Go wins the RSA chase you heard it here first
|
By:
massively wide open race every year
|
By:
I'm quite interested in African Gold if Twister decides to send it novice chasing, which seems quite likely. Nice, big scopey horse who doesn't mind gutsing it out in a slog - a quality shown in most RSA winners.
|
By:
there will be horses in contention that most have never really heard of come next March, one of the worst A/P races there is
|
By:
Add that to any of the novice hurdles and triumph hurdle. Bookies have a licence to print money.
|
By:
brave person(or stupid!!)who gets involved with this race this early!!
anyone that does.........good luck!! |
By:
about time a half decent hoss won the RSA has there been one since Denman?
|
By:
I think a horse of Nicky Hendersons won it a couple of years ago, hasn't done too bad since.
|
By:
howdi's memory,not good!!
|
By:
Forgot him!
That said rest been a raggy bunch imo. |
By:
Albertas Run has been a very nice horse also. Won some good pots.
|
By:
yes he has
|
By:
Since Denman ....
Forgetting Bons worth was a crime ill admit that |
By:
Albertas Run was after Denman !!!
|
By:
For what it's worth I think this years winner, Lord W , could be a much under rated horse, he won the RSA in only his second season, no time in points or bumpers, from novice hurdling to novice chasing, I think he could improve a lot
|
By:
How could you forget Weapons Amnesty Howdi, he could have been anything and won in the style of a top class animal.
Bright New Dawn Un De Sceaux Felix Yonger Three of the less obvious Irish candidates. |
By:
im all over the show
|
By:
Slabster are you suggesting Un de Sceaux will be going over fences this season? I had him down as Champion Hurdle bound
|
By:
No worries Howdi, I never let anyone forget Weapons Amnesty
I'm not sure what he'll be doing Resner, I haven't heard anything. But I think he'll make a smashing chaser one day, hopefully this season. |
By:
Don't know why I like this race as I always seem to get stuck into 1 or 2 ante post who ultimately prove a let down memories of Air Force One getting stuffed by albertas run (if only I knew what I know now)...........Mikael d'haguenet who I thought was a certainty still gives me shivers!!!.........And last year Boston Bob arghhhhh
I will still put those failings down to a blip and follow a few where hopefully I can get some tasty prices on On my radar at the moment is........ AFRICAN GOLD UBAK JUST A PAR |
By:
cloudy copper,don cossack,rule the world
|
By:
O'faelains boy, although I'm slightly wondering if this one might end up in the 4 miler and follow in the hoofprints of teaforthree from the same stable.
|
By:
Nightmare AP race. My advice is wait until the Moriarty at Leopardstown in February and then select. Before then you are waving your willy in the wind.
|
By:
thats taking half the fun away, nothing better than backing 1 in october and getting a run in the race ! i remenber backing keen leader nearly every week for it and got there as 9-4 fav,ran like a pig but !
|
By:
Keen Leader not thought about him for a while. I backed Pipes horse at 16s went off 11-8 stood to win a right pot ...our vic ill never forget how I felt when he started to paddle.
Also backed Celestial Halo at 66s for champion and that coont Punjabi knobbed him |
By:
happier days when I had Albertas Run at 33s week before he won the Rynair - nought to do with money but felt smug for weeks after
|
By:
As rooster booster crossed the line in front in the previous year county hurdle I decided there and then that (in a post Istabraq era who had pulled up earlier in the festival) he'd be my CH horse for the following year, could have got 66's then but thought , no rush just yet, got round to it in October and got 20's.
|
By:
our vic, what a lovely looking horse that was,on keen leader that fall coming down the hill probably stopped it becoming a real good en ! still my favourate horse though
|
By:
there aren't many good ante post races left at chelt - Gold Cup and Champion Hurdle seem the easiest to get a runner out of. RSA is terrible to bet now.
|
By:
i must admit it least normally with them races you do get a run, champion hurdle is the best race of the week for me !
|
By:
backed Just A Par at 25/1. Only had two starts for PFN and has a rating of 140 already. Will be a 7yo come next March. Perfect.
|
By:
Sorry Sint for bringing this thread back up, still just a par might run better nto.
Anyway, anyone impressed with Smad Place today? was ok I thought, but not really that impressed. |
By:
Thought he jumped fairly well for only his second start over fences. Didn't beat much but fairly impressive after his fall lto.
The one I am looking forward to it Morning Assembly. Backed him a couple of weeks ago at 33's. I thought his performance on his reappearance was very good indeed. Couldn't fault his jumping and it was over a distance too short for him. Should get a better idea about his chances when he runs against Don Cossack at the weekend! Should be a good battle I think. |
By:
Don't bother me Budde. You win some, you lose some. It's betting.
African Gold make his debut on Saturday, he is currently favourite. I wasn't that impressed with Smad Place tbh. He jumped well and stays but i'd be gobsmacked if there are not at least two better than him. |
By:
Absolutely mate, and every horse deserves another go-especially novices-bet still alive mate.
Yeh African Gold i've been reading about, seems to be highly thought of,look forward to seeing his debut. |
By:
nostaw,
Couple of what look like hot races in Ireland at the weekend, with a fair few of the irish contenders entered. Don Cossack and Morning Assembly, and another ive had a dabble at silly prices on here- Corbally Ghost-have a feeling hes capable of a lot better than when he finished behind MA lto. This weekend could tell us a fair bit, even if it is still early days as far as the RSA goes. |
By:
Will be interesting to see if they run budd as I thought they would be saved for the Drinmore a fortnight later.
|
By:
fair point,forgot about that.
|
By:
Le Bec was a good winner today. He jumped and travelled great and decent ground is imperative to him, according to the trainer. It looked a strong race before hand.
African Gold was disappointing on the face of it. Only excuse you could afford him is that the first two home had a previous run, and the horse himself got bumped mid-air at the 3rd last which seemed to knocked him a bit as he was off the bridle after that. |
