3/1 NRFB seems excellent to me. If he turns up I've yet to see anything to trouble him. His injury isn't a particularly serious one and although he'll be 11, he's a bit special at this.
Report Swardean March 20, 2013 6:59 PM GMT
At Fishers Cross, the new One, another year older.... and they never come back the same.
Report resner not lesnar March 20, 2013 7:04 PM GMT
No you're right Inglis Drever was gash when he came back Laugh

A New One Champion Hurdle bound, At Fishers Cross seems to need soft and still wouldn't be that confident of him beating Big Bucks with his ground.
Report alexmillwall March 20, 2013 7:43 PM GMT
Has anything actually been said about AFC next season? Surely he should be chasing?
Report Arklearkle March 20, 2013 9:00 PM GMT
The occasional one does come back especially one as special as BB. Solwhit lost the guts of 2 years and came back to win the same race. Not sure there was very much wrong with BB anyway. Talk of not running him until the World hurdle is crazy though.
Report Can't Catch Me March 21, 2013 12:25 PM GMT
Looks a stand out bet to me too.
Report Swardean March 21, 2013 1:04 PM GMT
In over 40 runnings of this event only 1 horse over 9 has won it.  He would be 11.

Agreed not impossible but would be tough.  Would bring down the horse if he did
Report BJG March 21, 2013 3:24 PM GMT
Dont think we will see him again myself personally
Report Ballydoyle March 21, 2013 3:38 PM GMT
Shocking bet...recovering from injury....one year older.......apparently will be making his seasonal debut then also.....4/1 for a race in a year's time is a shocker

Is 4/1 to race again in my book
Report cammy glasgow March 21, 2013 6:41 PM GMT
cant beleive how some folk on here are just writing the great one off cos hel be 11 who gives a toss he gets there he wins imo although no bet for me at the moment
Report sintonian March 24, 2013 3:45 PM GMT
PFN has said he has a minor tendon tear. This is the same injury as Al Ferof. Presumably he won't come back either?
Report Mr Eboue March 24, 2013 3:47 PM GMT
The difference is one is 3 yrs older than the other though.
Report sintonian March 24, 2013 4:16 PM GMT
the injury will take the same time to heal though if they are the same. BB is hardly a teenager. If PFN can get horses like Neptune Collonges back from injuries to win a National and Tidal Bay to win G1s at 12 then i'm sure somethimg of BB's talent will be able.

It really is all about how bad the injury is. If it is a minor one then i'd not want to be a layer tbh.
Report mitten March 25, 2013 9:04 AM GMT
pfn is master at getting horses back to there best like kauto star betfair and king george wins so getting big bucks back to beat a modest bunch of 3 milers is not mission impossible 4/1 is huge price
Report Swardean March 26, 2013 7:49 PM GMT
If the injury is so minor, why is it keeping off the track for near a year and a half?

And the decision to go straight for the WH suggests even after this break he is likely to be fragile and vulnerable to further injury.

Would personally love to see him come back though
Report duffy March 26, 2013 10:54 PM GMT

A 5 year old stepping into open company and a 11 year old coming back from a 15 month absence due to injury...Cammy man you're a legend but please give this a rethink,Neither represent value at this point in time,
I doubt Bucks will see a racecourse again myself and would suggest you wait and see abour Our Conor as while he has looked useful and clocked a decent rating for his Triumph hurdle run in time that field could turn out to be a bunch of yaks..The current 5/1 is a joke price for him imo,
Good luck.

Not for me this time BB, solwhit who was top class at 2 miles and had the reputation of being a head down grinder now over 3 miles retains all his 2 miles class and does it all so easily, unfortunate for BB that with solwhit, zark and AFC he will be facing his toughest test yet, when he probably isn't going to be the force he has been in the past.

Knowing Ruby I'd be nothing but stunned to learn that he gave up the ride on an already historic horse like Big Bucks, he's the kind that wouldn't leave a stable if such a horse could come back and continue where he left off. The golden sign has arrived and people are rushing to back the horse at 4/1. Not if he had two more noughts in his price would I back him till I see he's recovered. I think somebody like ruby would be a bit to selfish to hand such reins over to another jockey if all was alright.
Report buddeliea May 30, 2013 5:06 PM BST

Agree about Solwhit Budd, I said the same on the At Fishers Cross thread a few weeks ago.

There are question marks around a lot of the head of the market in the World Hurdle and 7/1 Solwhit is a brilliant price and should be fav imo.

There are the obvious concerns around Big Bucks, I need to see At Fishers Cross run against open company before I'd even consider taking 4/1, Zarkandar has yet to be tested at the trip, The New One won't go for it; and then it's down to the usual mud loving stayers in Ireland who we see all the time.

7/1 Solwhit is a great price.

But: I've just checked Betfair and out to 11, and has drifted in recent weeks, so I don't know if all is well.
Report buddeliea October 18, 2013 7:12 PM BST
its purely cos he aint fancied like AFC and BB are imo Chief.
nowt wrong with the horse as far as we know, hope he drifts more on here, bigger the better.
Report shockster October 20, 2013 6:38 PM BST
4/1 Big Bucks IMO is pretty fair.  Yes AFC and Solwhit are cracking good horses and I would not put anyone off them, but if BB turns up fit, then who wouldn't want 4/1.  If BB doesn't make it so be it as he owes nobody anything.  Fair risk IMO but not for silly stakes.

MAKE THE FESTIVAL IF THE BUCKSTER WON NUMBER 5.
Report shockster November 25, 2013 11:40 AM GMT
Owner Andy Stewart has been told Big Buck's could be better than ever ahead of his return from injury later this season.

Paul Nicholls' four-times World Hurdle winner bolted up in the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury almost a year ago, but missed the rest of the campaign.

The 10-year-old is likely to make his eagerly-awaited comeback in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham in January before aiming to win back his World Hurdle crown at the Festival in March.

"He's ever so well. Clifford Baker (Nicholls' head lad) thinks he could not only be as good as he was this time last year, but perhaps even better," Stewart told At The Races.

"Of course I don't really believe that, but you'll be seeing him in January.

"If he goes to the Cleeve, the World Hurdle and the Liverpool Hurdle, those will be the only three races he's going to partake in."

Regarding Annie Power I would assume by now the connections know what they are going to do - I would also assume in such big championship races, training needs would need to be tailored for a horse running over 2 miles vs a horse running over 3 miles. In fact there's no doubt in my mind the decision is made and probably isn't being made public in case something happens, i.e. last minute injury to a stablemate, dramatic change in ground conditions, connections seem to enjoy the mystery surrounding their horse's target.
Report Ballydoyle February 22, 2014 11:18 PM GMT
The prices on Betfair have told you what they are going to do for a couple of months now...plan to not go for World Hurdle would depend completely on Hurricane Fly and Quevega not turning up.
