Looks like world hurdle but 10/1 seems skinny.

By:
runs over 2 miles first by the sound of things. Judged by his beating of Rev de Sivola in the neptune a few years back I'd have to say he could run a race in the world hurdle.

Doesn't really have the profile of a Festival winner as he has no top class form for nearly 2 years. Save your money or give it to charity.

Champion hurdle trial next week at Haydock
By:
Yes was ready to race and declared for the 20f race at Chelt on New Years Day
By:
Graham Cunninngham said on Sportinglife today that he expects Grandouet in that Haydock race as well; could be a cracker!

It was reopened after only getting 7 entries

Peddlers Cross, second to Hurricane Fly in the 2011 Champion Hurdle, is likely to be among the entries for Saturday's Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock - from the racing post this morning
By:
He is indeed and also entered in the Champion Hurdle itself
By:
Could seriously hinder plans for Peddlers if Haydock and Ascot are both called off on Saturday with the freezing temperatures and expected snow.
McCain could go for the Cleeve on Trials Day, but he did say he wanted a 2m race first. |

Runs in a jumpers bumper at Kempton this Friday.

Can this horse really be a festival winner? Another not appeared for 12 months only the might quevega can just turn up and win a poor race from that sort of break, clearly had problems.
Wont be the horse it once was after such a lay off, any price to win any race at the festival for me. |
By:
got to agree with you Robbo....

By:
call equiname, 14 months off before winning the victor chandler and then the queen mum.

What they gonna learn running in Bumper, complete joke imo.
By:
that he,s fit and well, after so long off you wouldnt want him running in a bog
By:
also there are extensive all weather gallops at bankside, so he will be used to the surface
By:
So they know he is fit and well, why not run in proper race if prep for Festival?
By:
id imagine they would want a couple of runs before the festival

Like this time last season, not sure if trainer knows which way to go with horse?
By:
totally agree mate, id like to see him in the contenders hurdle next, saying that though they may step him up and go WH route with BB out, as you say i dont think think the trainer really knows which way yet lol
By:
Some higher profile ones have been using these bumpers in the last few years. Oscar Whiskey, Tetlami and Kalahari King are a few off the top of my head.
Running Peddlers in one is a good idea imo. Race sharpness on good ground on his first run in a long time, is better than a hurdle race in a bog imo. It must be hard for McCain. The horse is so versatile, he's got the speed for 2m and the stamina for 3m, similar to Oscar Whiskey. |

We're not talking about a horse that's been off the track for 3 years and they haven't got a clue as to whether he retains his ability or not.
He's been off the track for 10 months and I'd happily take it as read that he retains all of his hurdles ability, the horse didn't like fencing it's as simple as that, they just need to get him fit as they can and a bumper will help to do that, are they wondering whether he's still "got it", I'd very much doubt that they are giving it a moments thought. |

By:
Didnt like fencing duffy? Jumped like a stag first twice and started odds on to beat SS 3rd time out?
Doesnt say much for his trainer (who i am a huge fan of) if hes had a horse for 3 or 4 years and doesnt know which way to go with him!! Come on guys we are making up some pretty poor arguments here.... ![]() |
By:
needs to be watched first time for sure, horse was shot to pieces end of last season.
By:
Peddlers never jumped like a stage at all. He practically hurdles his fences hence why he is no longer running over them.
Given the abandonments running in a Bumper is a good idea just to get a run into him. He will most likely have a hurdles race after that in Feb, possibly the race he won at Kelso before running in the Champion Hurdle. The Aintree Hurdle has increased prize money this year, over 20f, so it is possible that could be his main target. |
By:
How many mistakes did he make in those to races at Bangor he won?
Plans were only changed for this horse when the worked ok he was no match for SS!!!! |
By:
Robbo, any good horse can jump like a stag in a mickey mouse small runner Bangor race were he can go at his own pace.
Jumping at championship pace, when he is put under pressure is completely different. His run against Sprinter and in the Jewson made his jumping go to pot. When he was over hurdles he thrived under pressure, and done his best work off the bridle, where over fences it was the exact opposite. It has shown this season with Reve De Sivola and Bog Warrior, in that if a horse isn't enjoying fences, it makes no sense continuing. |
By:
* should say Reve and Bog look like different animals, now back over hurdles.
By:
In his bangor runs it was clear that he was never going to be living on the edge so to speak, jumping very low, like sint said above, he hurdled them.
By:
he was going to be living on the edge so to speak.....I should say.
By:
I reckon Donald's getting him ready for a summer jumping campaign in claiming hurdles....

Has to be a play to lay the top two in the market at Kempton today. I will be backing megastar each way. Already a winner on the flat recently and at the prices has good place claims if the top two in the market do not have the desire to win a race with no obstacles to jump

That's the worse argument ive ever read, low and quick (hurdling for the less informed) is the quickest way from one side to the other. It was a first fence mistake against SS that put him out the race so the championship pace goes out the window to. The horse picked up it's injury most likely then too. Ran in another because it was a festival race. the horse was not right going into the race ala the great Kauto in last years GC, he was pulled up because of what happened schooling not what happened in that race.
Best mate maybe one of the best jumpers around was always low and fast at his fences, they dont have to jump like dessie to be a good!!! |
By:
Thought he looked a shadow of his former self today.
By:
Went to the well once too often,Was his biggest fan but he'll never carry a penny of mine again..Shame.

By:
Out to 12/1 for the World Hurdle. I'm distinctly underwhelmed. No fackin chance.
By:
All over it last year for arkle, horse is finished. Was a great horse, won a great novice at the festival but gone now.

Jesus, are people really basing thoughts on his future career on a Kempton all weather run? He's a NATIONAL HUNT horse ffs. I thought we had some knowledgable people on here! Pay not attention to that run at all - I was surprised he placed!
