sorry, PoS now 4lbs lower than when second last season.

I would have thought that Hidden Cyclones mark would be closer to 150 once the English handicapper has a look at him, but would still be interesting.
Im keen to see Cue Card try 3 miles this season, but he could blow his current mark (157) if he were to win the Charlie Hall. |

When are the Hennessey weights out?
Rease, T43 is a good shout off 146, especially if there's some cut in the ground. Presumably will be a Welsh National type as well? |
By:
Teaforthree could be a good shout if the ground wasn't to fast.
By:
he was on my radar after cheltenham for this.
By:
As mentioned earlier in the thread. Ace High beat Teaforthree 12 lengths first time up last season off levels and now off 142. Obviously T43 improved, but nothing to say Ace High hasn't either and has only raced 6 times in his career. Open to bags of improvement as shown in his only run last year.

I'd have thought Gigginstown would send one over as it is a big pot and they have so many good chasers. Would have to be respected.

From ATR - Gary Moore's Fruity O'Rooney has the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury in November as his first major aim of the new National Hunt season.
The nine-year-old went down narrowly at the Cheltenham Festival in March when reeled in by Alfie Sherrin in the JLT Specialty Handicap Chase and ran with credit in the Scottish Grand National. He finished fifth at Ayr but Moore is of the belief he failed to see out the trip, which makes a crack at the Grand National at Aintree next year unlikely. "He's going to run over two-mile-five at the first Cheltenham meeting later this month," said Moore. "We might aim him at the Hennessy in the first half of the season, that would seem a likely target. "I don't think he truly stayed in the Scottish National, that's my opinion. So because of that I don't think he'd be an Aintree horse, I wouldn't want to tear the guts out of him. "I wouldn't rule it out completely, though." |

I could do witha fruity weekend at newbury.

By:
Shockster - any thoughts on which one Gigginstown might send? Presumably Last Instalment won't be ready so it would be one of Weapons Amnesty (152), Sir des Champs (162), First Liuetenant (157) or Quito de la Roque (160)?
As noted above, I'd love to see WA in this and his handicap mark could be a gift, though it would be a tough comeback race after 2 years off. QDLR would presumably only run if it came up soft or worse. FL might be the interesting one, not least to see if he stays 26 f. |
By:
I was thinking more like Fists of Fury off 143. Last run he split SDC and Hidden Cyclone (wouldn't take it literally). Has been over here a few times and would give them an idea of where they stand plus feasibly weighted.
Weapons would be good to see but a lot to ask. Agree LI. SDC Just don't think they would bring him, but good enough IMO off 162. FL - I only rate around Chelt. QDLR - wouldn't back him off 140. |
By:
Good point.
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't bring SDC - only one day matters for him this season. I take your point about FL. Mixing threads here, but I doubt he stays the Gold Cup trip. I wasn't interested in him as a potential Hennessey winner, but that race, over a similar trip to the CGC, albeit on a very different track, might give a clue. |
By:
FoF been off since January though so might not be fit. Might throw Carlito Brigante in, but not conviced with him over fences. Just can't believe they won't have a runner.
By:
Tharawaat may be the one rated around 140. Ran well in the GN on good going having looked a mudlark previously. Who knows???
By:
I'd like to see on his own sent over, very impressive in the thyestes off 125 but had just got himself into the national and travelling easy when coming down off 148, he looked green in the thyestes and i'd be happy to take a chance on him getting the better part of a stone off bob's worth and co...having said that he'll probably be kept over hurdles until next april....exciting horse nevertheless.
By:
Giggi also have Magnanimity, but he is winless for quite a while now, but could get rated in the high 130's?
Sunnyhillboy went up 10lbs for his National second and could be a possible runner, and is off 152; and I doubt they would run Quantitaveeasing because he looks better over a shorter distance. Another possible runner from the National is Cappa Bleu, who I don't think stays extreme distances that he's been facing in the English and Welsh Nationals - he's off 147, but I think he'd need to be lowered a couple of lbs. Its a shame Invictus is out injured, I would of loved him in this off 149. |

I'd still like to see Cue Card show up here

Hidden Cyclone how far? i know sharky likes to spout off a bit as for example that star neuville was a superstar bumper horse and he would carry them up the hill. however he has rattled about hidden cyclone for a good 3 years and tbh i think he is a smashing horse.
By:
id consider backing diamond harry if it was his first run. lots of promising sorts though and id say itll be a better renewal than last yr
By:
Have asked Betfair to put an AP market up for this. I have listed horses mentioned on here, but please feel free to add others. For anyone who doesn't know it's the Top Thread on the Horse Ante Post Forum if you want to add.
Cheers |

he does look a well handicapped 2nd season chaser

Only put on to this thread by shockster's post on AP runners.
Whilst he may lack the class of a typical Hennessy winner, I would be interested in Our Mick as a long shot. Continually improved last year and has experience of an open handicap even he'll only be a 2nd season chaser. Not sure from a stamina perspective that deep ground would help him though. |
By:
I thought Ace High made an encouraging comeback on Saturday and would look at him seriously at the bottom of the handicap.
By:
Shockster - agree though think trip is a bit far for it.
By:
I wouldn't be worried about the trip as I think Saturdays race will have brought him on. With race fitness assured I don't think he would have been caught. Not winning will help his chance as no penalty and rise in the weights.
By:
What do you see as top weight?
By:
Bobs worth / tidal Bay /
By:
Can't see Tidal running but maybe a Burton Port 166. I was hoping its a bad renewal with a topweight around 160 as I like a horse but he's too lowly rated to get in right now.
By:
sorry forgot Burton
By:
Weird Al and The Giant Bolster (both 164) are other possibles who have been mentioned for top weight. It was so much easier when Denman was around!
By:
Victor Dartnall has confirmed Ace High will get an entry in the Hennessy. All on the trainers website. Sounds like the injury last year was quite bad.
By:
I have been informed by Betfair that the market will be available a week today 22/10. Don't know why the delay, but you all know as much as I do.
By:
Carruthers runs on Saturday before he tries(and fails)to retain the Hennessy. Todays Racing Post.
