I am waiting to find out if RILEYEV is going to get a run in the Byrne Plate. Venetia loves a Festival handicap winner and they tried it out at Newbury over 2 mile 4. Loves good ground and has decent Cheltenham form and has won 3 from 5 starts in the month of March lifetime 25/1 but have to wait for the decs

I would like to second Well Chief's suggestion of Olofi. Given the formlines, I simply can't believe 16/1 NRNB is still available.
|
|
By:
needs soft imo
|
|
By:
If it had rained I'd have suggested Grand Vision in the Pertemps, but with the weather/going looking decent I'll put up Cape Dutch in the Martin Pipe.
|
|
By:
Olofi has not won since December 2009 and has not come down in the weights since then but form more than respectable.
|

Page 4 of today's RP
Olofi misses the Champion Hurdle By Bruce Jackson Trainer Tom George is still intending to run Olofi at this week's Cheltenham Festival despite withdrawing the grey from tomorrow's champion Hurdle. Olofi and the Willie Mullins-trained Thousand Stars were taken out of the champion Hurdle at yesterday's declaration stage, but George is aiming his six year-old at Friday's Vincent O'Brien County Hurdle. However, the news of an extra runner in the County Hurdle will come as a blow to the connections of Paintball as it reduces the chances of Saturday's Sandown winner getting into the field and chasing a £75,000 bonus from Paddy Power after winning the sponsor's Imperial Cup. Even with a 5lb penalty, Paintball is 49th in a race limited to 28 runners. Thousand Stars was shortened to 6-1 (from 7-1) for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle by sponsors. With Olofi rerouted to Friday, George will now run three of his four-strong festival squad on the final day with JCB Triumph Hurdle favourite Baby Mix and Sivola de Sivola (Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle) also due to be in action. George said "Things didn't go Olofi's way at Newbury (fifth in the Betfair Hurdle). They didn't go quick enough, as the quicker they go the better." "Sitting third or fourth off a strong pace is what suits him. At Newbury he was stuck at the back and got hampered, then got out on his own in the straight and was looking around." George, who goes into the festival in top form after having 3 winners from his last 15 runners, reported Baby Mix in top form. However, the trainer would have preferred to run Sivola de Sivola in Thursday's Pertemps Final rather than the Albert Bartlett. He said "The Pertemps in the preference but he doesn't look like getting in (39th in the list despite being second favourite)." French import Terre de Vent will be the trainer's other runner when she contests the OLBG Mares' Hurdle. |

I know some people won't agree with the choice of this horse, and God knows its unlikely I would have backed it myself, but the reason for having this charge is this:
I, like many of you guys, have spent hours on this forum over the last few weeks and months, and have contributed to a number of freds, but also really enjoyed reading the thoughts of others on hundreds of other freds I have read but not contributed to. On some freds there are amazing, well constructed arguments in favour of one horse or another, often coming not just from the head, but like the best viewpoints, also heavily influenced by heart and pocket. Horses like Sprinter Sacre, Kauto Star and Peddlars Cross have aroused such fierce debate that it is clear that when battle starts tomorrow, and the flag is raised for the Supreme Novices, some on here will be cheering and some will be crying with every winner and loser. So of the 27 races, it will be great to have one horse in one race that all of us, whether contributors or just readers, we will be all cheering on together. So this is the call to arms, all of you, wherever you will be this week, and whether you think this horse wins or not. Get involved, back Olofi, and chhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrgggggggeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! |
|
By:
Really don't get this horse at all
![]() However, i'll see how things go come Friday and I may join in ![]() |
|
By:
good luck with this...I think I've supported him in all previous races this year but cant get enthused at the price here on the likely ground ( so he could well bolt in). Local Hero flying the Tidwell flag instead here

MC you're not alone, in the last month my good lady has nicknamed herself the 'cheltenham widow'! I keep reminding her it'll all be over by this weekend. She replies by saying 'if you've placed all your bets what's the point in reading anymore?' Sadly I don't have an answer, but to get back to the point it'll be good to know when cheering Olofi on we'll be as one so to speak. If (& it may be a big ask) the horse gives a big run it'll be a nice ending to the usual banter & good on you for getting it going. GL & have a great week (if not profitable at least enjoyable & I hope the former)

Remember - it's not the winning, it's the taking part!
And just imagine, all the cheers dotted around the course if 'our horse' goes in, to blank stares from 99% of the rest of the crowd. Better still, the puzzled look on Tanya's face as she reports 'a nationwide plunge on Olofi' based on some stupid cnts playing silly bugg3rs on Betfair! Im in, just for the laugh! |
|
By:
no, sorry, it's definitely the winning!
![]() Haven't made a selection yet, will do when we get final decs, use the Paul Jones book to get a shortlist then go from there |

Arsenal's late winner brought in my overs, and have gone back in...
