Horses rated 148 or higher have a horrid record in this race the last 10 years with no winners
The race really favours horses from the 133 to 144 odd marks Roudoudou Ville has gone up 48lbs in his last 5 runs which is some hike - equally shows he is very progressive i suppose but not for me off a mark of 150, gl with ur bet |

Grumpyjim - no offence, but I'd hate to be getting directions from you if I was late for the first race!
With regard to Roudoudou Ville, he looks to have a big chance on that run last time but would him stopping up the hill be a concern? Also felt that he had the perfect run of the race on that occasion and still got done, so could be overbet for me. We shall see - he's certainly very progressive... |

Very boringly none of the above Harry! Closest would be the last guess - am working in Canada at the moment as a course instructor at a University - am 8 hours behind UK time, so right now I am just about to get some shuteye!
I come back to the UK for Cheltenham every year and have actually found the betting goes better than when I used to live there. Works both ways too - sometimes I miss a huge market move as I'm getting forty winks, but other times I can steal some big prices that have popped up while every other b*gger is akip! |

^ Sorry - the last part of that refers to betting/trading throughout the rest of the year!

Lol tom was wondering why you were always on late...ah fair play...lovely ladies over there...very keen to please...

If you listened to Vic Dartnall after the Spinal Research you would have heard him say that Roudoudou Ville, far from "getting the run of the race", in fact the whole race plan fell apart when he was left in front following a few fallers and bad jumps by others which left him exposed in front
what he wanted to happen was for him to remain covered and follow the leaders to the last before hitting the front on the run on the climb to the line and hat the horse had done well not to be beaten much further I still maintain he is capable of much higher performance under the right circumstances which I hope he will get at the Festival and he is unlikely to face any of Medermit, Great Endeavour or Quantitativeeasing who all have other races as their targets |
|
By:
Fair enough, but the race did fall apart (not just the plan) as a result of fallers and others making mistakes, so I'd still have expected him to have hung on even if he was in front sooner than he wanted to be.
Not one I would be surprised to see win well as he has ticks in all the right boxes, but there are a couple of others I would be more interested in. Divers for one - what is your opinion on him? Form with Quantitativeeasing and Festival form last year suggests he should be very closely involved and would be getting a reasonable bit of weight from Roudoudou... |

Count me in team betfair, think this is a great idea although got no suggestions for the beast as i feel too overwhelmed with responsibility in doing so, happy to go with the democratic choice.
|
|
By:
If I had to nominate won, it would be Moscow Mannon in the BUMPER. There already seems to be a GROUNDSWELL of support for this beast in the forum imo.
|
|
By:
Right then what date's the charge?
|
|
By:
I am going to appoint myself as the boss of this fred as the OP. I'll choose the charge horse on the eve of the festival, but it'll be a decision based on a democracy, so keep the nominations coming. I guess we'll have more information once the decs and weights for the handicaps are announced.
|
|
By:
any bumper is a terrible choice imo
there is no telling how the race will be run, what the pace will be like and there is very little colateral form so any bet is purely based on trends, inside info or rumour none of which makes for a solid betting proposition handicaps and graded races are the best options where the horses have had the chance to demonstrate what they can do but if you wanna go ahead and plunge on the Bumper then go ahead |
|
By:
I think it will almost definitely be a handicap horse JR, presumably something Irish, unconsidered, and at a massive price. Ideally we will cause a massive price shrinking, and much scratching of heads

Anyone got any fancies for the foxhunters as we could all have something to look forward to after the high of the gc?
Has thrown up some big priced winners and it wont take as much money to cause a big stir in this market? |

My tentetive selection at the moment is Flat Out in the County Hurdle.
Potentially well treated off 142 and only 2l behind Oscar Whisky in the Supreme Novices. Willie Mullins has won the last two renewals with Thousand Stars and Final Approach, so knows how to train one for it. He did have entries in the World Hurdle, Champion Hurdle, Champion Chase and Queen Mum but has been taken out of them all now. If he was to line up I think he'd go very close. |

The 3 mile chase on Tuesday changes it's name on a regular basis but inevitably cuts up these days. Probably best to wait for NRNB but anyone with the cohonas should consider The Package shrugging off a mere 16 months absence to go one better than 2010 when narrowly beaten in the same race. Having been heavily involved that day I consider this to be unfinished business

Any more news on this one, bear in mind some will be busy/away from a laptop etc when the charge begins.
Can we confirm the selection 48 hours before the race to accomodate those not sitting at home awaiting the decision? |

Lie Forrit in the JLT Specialty Handicap Chase on the first day, it's his only entry.
Horse has been given a very generous mark, compared to what he achieved as a hurdler. Was always going to be a chaser, and he's been running in small filed novice chases so far, which isn't really ideal. This race will provide his ideal conditions, a big field, a strong pace, 3miles and we know he acts on the course. Novices have a decent record in this race. I think he's a fair bet, 25/1 is available or 20/1 NRNB. |

Any news Marychain?

Having gone through the fred, and ruled out anything that
1. no longer has an entry 2. isnt in one of the handicaps 3. Is not 16/1 or bigger on its current price The only one I can find is Argocat in the Fred Winter (16/1). This one suits me but I'm willing to listen to any suggestions of an alternative. Does anyone have any other nominations? I'll choose some time tomorrow (say by 18.00 Sunday), giving everyone time to get on. |
|
By:
...and sorry if I have missed any other suggestions, it was only a quick skim of the fred, If I have, just resuggest.

Olofi - County Hurdle 16/1 NRNB
Sire De Grugy has won since the Betfair and ran a very creditable race in the Imperial Cup today off 147 carrying top weight. Olofi was only 1 length behind in the Betfair and will only be on 136 in the County. |

Wow, a suggestion with creditable formlines and reasoning. That's going to be hard to beat.

cinders and ashes is being well talked about here in spain by the dreaded oirish ,,over to plunder the sport in englands ,home of nat hunt ,,probably a stone in hand and under the handicappers RADAR ?????? around 9/1 1O/1 looks a sensible price for a chargeeeeeee , seemed to join in at a latter time, according to notes I wrote down ...?very often talk is easier ,away from the homeland ...dont know anything about the horse, trainer or anything ...only an ear to the ground ... any ideas if this is suitable ?
