I would hope that bookmakers refund all bets on the 'you can't win, you can't lose' basis, as this horse NEVER had a chance of winning the 2012 renewal.

To be fair to the trainer has he ever said the FH is the plan? I think he might have known tbh - it's the bookmakers that should be embarrassed, making a horse fav who could never even enter let alone win. They spend most of the winter listing horses for the Centenary that are rated outside the band too. Clueless or something more sinister?

i was astounded to see several earlier posters doubing barber shops will to win,i personally dont fancy him t win the foxhuntrs as i always doubted his stamina more than braverey,im sure he won enough races not to be accused of being unwilling.my own littl;e fancy for the race is salsify , ill be keeping him onside for certain.ultra impressive in his recent irish hunter chase win and its fair to say that looked a decent enough event with last years fohunter jolly on the fringe comfortably beaten and a few other decent performers behind.

Didn't see too much wrong with it myself - main thing for those on AP is to get him qualified and he has achieved that no problem
I thought he jumped very nicely and ideled abot and who knows what the 2nd is - beat The Midnight Club at levels in a PTP when TMC was a year older - Merry Vic hasnt runs since and TMC was arguably unlucky not to win the National last year. If he beat TMC today I think Barbers would now be a short priced favourite I am very surprised to see him available at 16s |

gotta be honest beating merry vic whos been off for an age and would be a 1000/1 in the foxhunter itself gives barber shop a ton to find just to finish in the right half of the field.if today is as good as he is then he has NO CHANCE.. maybe he had an off day but somehoei doubt that as he wasnt very impressive when he won last btime.

I hope you're right Demps as I have a few quid on BS. I just worry about whether he'll stay the trip in a strongly run race at the Festival. That said, it's good to see him back in the winner's enclosure - I've always had a soft spot for the horse.

stayed well enough to be 4th in a Hennessey off 156 - race won by a certain Denman. If he can get within a stone of that form he will gag up. That's the problem though - can he run anywhere near that level these days?

jud , you have to accept that yestrdays moderate win and his previous win prove emphatically that he CANNOT run to anything like those heady days, if you ignore what he USED to be able to do and price him up for the foxhunters on thesew two hunterr wins(recent form is all that matter really) then hes a 100/1 chance . on what weve seen he cant win a decent mens open.

Thought Herons Well was travelling well in this last year when unseating and particularly unlucky to be brought down in the Aintree Foxhunters. Plan has been to return for another tilt at this, though abandoned meetings have put paid to a seasonal reappearance a couple of times already (including tomorrow). Could be of interest for me at decent prices.
Surprised this was only endorsed by the post immediately following (albeit I scanned the thread fairly quickly). One of the few I've been waiting for since last year. |

Yep, I saw that mate though have n't watched the race. Have watched last year's Foxhunters a couple of times though and still really struck by how nicely HW was going.
Last week's race was over 21f I think? I also agree with the comments about Aintree last year above. Of course I could be just chasing last year's losses  |

This race is a joke. The jockeys are hopeless and all of the horses are old plodders. Anyone thinking about a wager in this race is a total headcase. And whoever started the thread must be seriously lacking in the brains department.

i think the guy who was saying in an earlier post that barber shop was a great price at 1.5 prior to barber shop scraping home at fontwell 9sp was something like 8/11 must now realise that the horse is basically "gone" as his unimpressive defeat of merry vic suggested he is.
