Now I can go NRNB, have decided to add Balder Succes to my portfolio for this race.
This horse clearly has an engine and with an 8lb pull will be competitive if he runs. Clearly that is very unlikely unless he gets his ground but if conditions were to go in his favour, there is no way he will be 20s. Either a money back situation or a trading position |
By:
If any of Balder Succes, Pearl Swan or Shadow Catcher were to run. I would def be interested with the 4YO allowance. However, looking at the odds on here it would be a waste. The NRNB is a different angle, but prefer not to tie up my bank on the off chance.

Can see your point shockster. However I am not interested in either of the other two and as my AP business is pretty much done now and this being the first race of the festival not worried about funds being tied up

In my most humble opinion the overlooked horse in the opener is Willie Mullins' ALLURE OF ILLUSION. Don't mock me too much and I'll expand on my leftfield view.
> He was a high class bumper last season and was well-fancied for the Champion Bumper before an eleventh hour defection to wait for Aintree, where he finished a creditable 10 lengths adrift of Steps to Freedom on only his second start. > He is a lightly-raced Irish runner with only two hurdles under his belt. This is what I like to see in an Irish contender, witness the victories of the likes of the awesome Montelado, French Ballerina, Sausalito Bay, Ebaziyan and Captain Cee Bee who fitted that specific category. > WPM states he will be best on good ground over two miles(won a rough bumper on good to firm) yet his two hurdle starts were on Soft-Heavy and Heavy. He was most unlucky on his hurdling debut, almost being brought down by a faller three out before staying on like a train to finish a length adrift of the 11/10 fav Joxer. Then LTO, admittedly at 1/5, he dead heated, with his stamina ebbing over a whole half mile further on heavy ground again, so not really a surprise after all. When I saw he was 75 on here I thought he was a non-runner, but WPM did mention him in one of the stable tours as coming over. I can see him running a big race ![]() |

Simonsig to neptune confirmed by NJH
By:
Do we feel that Tetlami is a definite runner? I ask only because I was reading Henderson's Cheltenham team article in the Sporting Life, whereas he does mention Darlan and Simonsig.
By:
Last I heard/read Tetlami a definate runner, BJG rides.
By:
OK thanks.
By:
Great news BJG, where did you see that?
By:
Your joking right slabster? He clearly (we at least to me anyways) appeared not to see out the distance at sandown over a furlong shorter!
Supreme winners have stamina and speed to which Simonsig has both! How connections can think the neptune is the race for him is beyond me! Utterly ridiculous, biblical place lay if the race he runs is the Neptune! |

Paul Carberry at a preview - Darlan the one to beat but Dylan Ross is good ew value

Anyone know if Distant Memories is likely to run?
By:
Looks life Trifolium jitters are easing slightly which is good given I took a wee bit of the 30 on here on Friday. Presumably the threat of fast ground easing somewhat and the O'Leary interview (said it runs in the Supreme) have brought it back to what I think is still a more than generous price. Has every chance in a wide open renewal.

Thanks BJG

Dylan Ross gallops after racin at Leop today fwiw

Cash N Go is out

Yes afraid so. The festival has just come too quick for him after his problems in the Deloitte. There seems no point trying to rush him and ending up getting him to 80% for a race of this nature, and we've decided its best to take our time and hopefully get him to Punchestwon, back to his best.
Obviously gutted ![]() |
By:
Sorry to hear your news CCM that must be a big disappointment. All the best with getting him back for another day
![]() |
By:
Thanks alot Speculation. Its even more of a killer whne you look how open the race is this year. I know it sounds unsporting but just praying one of the horses that his form ties in with, doesnt win now. That would make the what if's even tougher to deal with.
Any one of Steps To Freedom, Tetlami or Montbazon winning by 10l hard on the steel would make me a bit less upset! |
By:
...but then again it would be great for the future to see his form given a boost... hopefully with Sous Les Cieux on the Wednesday
![]() |
By:
surely that's the right call CCM - can't be going to the Festival at anything other than 100% - fair play for doing the right thing by the horse. V best of luck with him.
By:
Hope you can get him to Punchestown CCM and have a great day out.... not quite Cheltenham but obviously the right decision.
Smiled at your comment about this year's race. The flip side would be if all those horses his form ties in with flop, whilst it might make Cheltenham easier, it might make you feel less optimistic about the future |
By:
Thanks chaps. Yes now you mention it, that probably would be the best thing long term..... Doubt I'd see it that way immediately though! Cheers
By:
I think he wants soft ground CCM, put him away until next year!
Montbazon was my fancy for this once Simonsig defected but having watched Newbury again, I don't think he jumps well enough for the pace the Supreme will be run at. If he jumped well I'd have thought he was a cert. |
By:
Is it me or is there very little talk on here for Galileo's Choice. Considering hes as low as 6/1 he doesnt get mentioned very often. 110 rated G3 winner on flat on latest start, jumps very, very quick, will love the good ground, strong traveller, hes bound to be there coming to the 2nd last imo.
By:
I'm on him Hardy at 14s
By:
I'm torn between GC and Tetlami Hardy. Think I'll wait for the day and see what ground is like.
Would have backed both ew but done 30% of stake on Cash and Go AP and really want to stick to what I have allocated for the race |
By:
hasnt that galileos choice already been beaten by sous le cieux ? sous doesnt look like a world beater to me
By:
Yeah but they were running on a bog that day!
By:
has it got a good chance then ? don't know much about the horse itself.
By:
trouble is the price has gone now
By:
Yeh i get the feeling weve not seen the best of SLC yet tho. mullins gives off the impression that he really rates him. And as tory says was awful ground but he still travelled well and was closing all the way to the line under not the most aggresive ride, even SLC owner said afterwards he wouldnt want to take GC on again on better ground. Think this could be a key race for the festival, GC for the supreme and SLC the neptune winner.

By:
In what is a very open looking race he is one for the shortlist along with Darlan, Montbazon and Tetlami IMO.
Stats wise the only negative is that he is flat bred though of the 2 flat horses to win in last 10yrs he fits the trends profile. If the ground is good then I would load up on him. If good/soft then not sure. He's 4 from 5 on good ground, 4 runs and 3 wins on the flat 1 from 4 on good to soft, though he was 2nd twice and 3rd once in fields ranging from 5 to 15 Did win on heavy last time but dont really count that. As a 6yr old it is also a postive for him. Would rather back him than Darlan at the prices |
By:
i'm gonna listen to you on this one and back it, i was feeling darlan for this race but my true feeling is that i know its going to get .... BEAT!
