By:
yup, nice horse, price told u how good it was and just look who beat it on its last start in france now in the same stable!!
serious horse! |
By:
I didn't see the race but Willie Mullins certainly wasn't hiding anything. He thinks this horse is a beast. Royal Bond possibly his next run.

Impressive. Very nice horse for sure

A potential star emerged at Fairyhouse today when Ruby Walsh steered the Willie Mullins trained Sous Les Cieux to a devastating win in the Fairyhouse Membership 2012 Maiden Hurdle.
Walsh, who was himself completing a treble on the day, held the son of Robin Des Champs up in the early stages before letting the French bred gelding saunter to the front from two out. The gelding then relentlessly galloped to most impressive hard-held six and a half lengths win over reasonable performer and bumper winner Rourke’s Cross. Afterwards Mullins, himself completing a double, stated “Sous Les Cieux shows a lot at home and while he is still a bit novicey, he’ll be a better horse in a race with more pace. “He’ll have no trouble coming back to two miles and we’ll have to see where we go now next – I’d not be afraid to bring him anywhere and he’s entered in the Royal Bond and we’ll have to have a think about that.” Sous Les Cieux subsequently received a quote of 20/1 for both the Neptune and Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdles at the Cheltenham Festival from Stan James bookmakers. |

Good performance again today, could be top drawer!
By:
Very impressed with him. Travelled like a dream.
By:
but could the runner up beat him at ch?
By:
^ Very possibly in my opinion.
For all that he travelled really well and looks a very smart horse, I thought he flattened out a little close home. That said, we haven't really seen many very smart performances from 2m novices this year (especially this side of the Irish Sea). |

I thought SLC was a big horse who was still not yet at his peak, yet still had enough to hold on. Think there is a lot more to come from him. Couldnt disagree the winner might be better suited to better ground at Chelts though.

Successful trainer Willie Mullins said: "He exceeded what I thought he'd do and he had to do it the hard way as he took it up a good bit out.
"He enjoyed his jumping and I'm happy that he'll improve from that. He's very light-mouthed but other than that he's uncomplicated. "We'll look forward to his next run now and we'll see how he comes out of this. He could go for the two miler at Christmas or we could wait for the Deloitte & Touche.(- WHICH IS OVER 2m.2f - in Leopardstown). "I'd imagine he'll stay further but at the moment we're happy over two miles. "The ground was pretty tacky today but he handled it and I think he'll go on good ground as well." Meanwhile Dermot Weld said of Galileo's Choice: "We'll wait for the spring with him now. "He'll get one run before possibly going to Cheltenham for the Supreme Novice. "I'm delighted with the way he kept at it today and that was an outstanding novice hurdle." |

Both looked decent prospects on SLC for Supreme and Neptune @ good prices, think given more of a lead would be even better, as was left in front quite a way from home, has speed and stamina and jumps well.
Prefer Supreme personally with ensured fast pace? |
By:
Agree stevo...have a feeling Willie is thinking 2 miles as well, despite most people saying he wants further.
Had them all off the bridle turning in the other day. |
By:
2 winners have come from his maiden stroll win so far.
Hoping he will go for Supreme as forgot have him doubled up with Fly as well as the singles, hope not kiss of death? |
By:
Mullins stated in Post Sunday, will stay at 2 miles next time but not yet decided where to go next?
Lets hope he stays at 2 miles is my preference for Festival though back in 2 miler and Neptune decent prices, so have aly option closer to meeting, knowing Wille night before dec time! lets hope he makes it there looks very good so far. |
By:
if hes sticking to 2 miles now then hell surely stick to 2miler at festival esp fact its such a tough 2miles
By:
Hope so J, bit it is Willie Mullins?
By:
that Galileos Whatever could be very smart - get him on good ground
110 or so on the flat? Group winner was he? Will not be opposing him lightly |
By:
Be careful assuming 2m as similar horse and profile to MDH who showed loads of speed at 2m and raced at 2m only to step up to 21/2 at the festival.Although Mullins had Hurricane Fly in supreme that year who he thought was cert!
I honestly dont think Mullins knows himself the pecking order and who will race where, as i twill depend on ground injuries jockey bookings, so id hold fire personally on this until nearer the time, otherwise its a total gamble knowing what race he goes for. When its NRNB im going to lump on as I think he looks the real deal! |
By:
SLC has the hallmarks of a superstar. Fine looking horse who hurdles well. Intrigued to see how he will fit into Willie Mullins' team in the coming weeks. Equally intrigued as to what is the plan for MDH given that the stable has kept the faith.

Entered in Future Champions Novice Hurdle 2 miles Leopardstown on Dec27th, only 7 entered.
By:
1/2 for that race! Cant think he should be that short myself....
By:
It's common for Willie to run his horses over shorter then step them up in trip at the Festival, often for the first time. Don't think one should read too much in to this running over 2 m now.
By:
Cant see this staying at 2m now. Ground not dissimilar to what it might encounter in March and beaten fare and square in what looked a decent test. Winner must have a chance if going for the Supreme
By:
Will never run over 2m again imvho
By:
Willie Mullins gave some insight into Sous Les Cieux's disappointing run. He said: "He just ran too free. There was nothing to make the pace so we had to. He'll stick to two miles and a better run race will suit him."
Interesting |
By:
Surely he will be held up off pace next time, but was still disappointing?
By:
Looking back at this one, just wonder whether the race came to soon for him after the Royal Bond...a step up in trip and a hold up ride will see this fellow in a better light I'd say...will be interesting to see how he fares after a break and if he turns up in the deloitte you will know your fate in regards the rest of the season.
By:
Yeah agree with that harry, pulled too hard last time .Still plenty of ability there if they hold on to him bit longer, think even faster run 2 miles would be ok?

CheltFestNews CheltFestNews
Willie Mullins plans to send the Royal Bond winner Sous Les Cieux for the Deloitte Hurdle for his next start. |
By:
Yes good news heard Mullins interview on ATR, appears Boston Bob going for Neptune.
Samain will be kept as novice so out im afraid. |
By:
Mullins normally sends his Neptune horse to the Deloitte....so interesting...like I said earlier maybe the run came to soon after his big effort in the Royal Bond.
By:
Thats not strictly true harry. last year he ran Zaidpour in the Delloitte and that one ended up in the supreme.
stevo1 Did he say that Bostons Bob was heading to the neptune? |

WPM interview |
By:
He also said, post Future Champions, that he felt a strongly run 2m where he didnt have to make the running would be ideal for the horse.
Bearing in mind Mullins lack of options for the Supreme this year, I think this horse will end up in that race. |
By:
Well we will see catch me...I'd say the horse is crying out for further time will tell...You will have to forgive him his last run though...but for me he had a hard race in the Royal Bond and that would be my excuse for the horse...his run in the deloitte will tell us more about the horse, who was impressive against Galileos Choice...but he now has something to prove. If he disappoints again I doubt you will even see the horse at Cheltenham.imo
By:
Can't believe VC are a standout 25.1 for the supreme, so I had some.
By:
Hope you are right Meadow, could look huge price if winning his next race.
By:
This horse reminds me a bit of Zaidpour in his first season over hurdles. He looked a world beater in his first two runs but then got defeated and did not find form again until the same time next season.
