be careful he wont be far away id have him at 6/4

What does Nicholls have to challenge really?
Denman/Kauto past it Still not convinced by Master Minded Bucksy a given Zarkandar should win a few races Al Ferof/Silviniaco Conti need to be good chasers Aiteen Thirtythree really going to win the Hennessey? ![]() |
By:
I'm sure i;ve missed an obvious one or two btw
![]() |
By:
howdi, i think its b square have him at 7/4 if u want.
nicholls has: al ferof big bucks crack away jack crystal bonus dildar empire levant escortmen frankie figg ghizao hinterland kauto stone master minded michel le bon mon parrain pacha du polder poungach poquelin prospect wells ranjaan rebel rebellion rock on ruby sanctuaire sam winner silviniaco conti sonofvic tataniano tidal bay tonic mellysse toubab what a friend wollecombe folly zarkandar thats not including his point to pointers and bumper horses, or his lesser horses. i wouldnt like to try beating that! obviously nicky has his own useful prospects, but i doubt theyre as good as the above. nicholls says hes going to buy in france too. i know the grand national is hardly worth talking about, such is the small chance of winning but nicky most probably wont have a runner, while nicholls will have a few at least[:(] |

i like it. im no fan of tidal bay myself, but i said id throw him in there anyhow, along with a few others who will pick up a few quid if they get back to their best. im waiting for chemical nickys list[;)]![]() |
By:
Haven't heard of a few of them tbh, Tidal Bay is a comical horse tough
![]() Should win a mince race or two ![]() |
By:
Zarkandar will probably win the Relkeel at 1/10 first out imo
By:
going for the bula im informed[:(]

btw, whats the
about |

lol FFT
For every Ghizao there's a Finians Rainbow & for every Zarkandar there's a Spirit Son & for every Al Ferof there's a Sprinter Sacre & maybe most importantly for every Big Buck's there is a Long Run. I expect Nicholls to do very well but there's no doubt the gap is closing which for me is a good thing for racing. |
By:
Nicholls will have spent heavily in France and the irish ptp scene, I expect him to have a very very strong crop of novice hurdlers and chasers this season, i think he held back a few of the Novice hurdlers last season as well with chasing in mind, I doubt Silviniaco Conti or Al Ferof are anywhere near his best chasing prospects.
Henderson has a top jock who is nearly always injury free however and one can't say that for Nicholls, for all that I rate Jacob. |
By:
spirits son is no zarkandar, infact hes not even an al ferof[:x]
![]() i wouldnt have too high hopes of ghizao, but on their aintree run i think ghizao could be slightly better. ruby ![]() ![]() ![]() obviously enough sprinter sacre is not as good as al ferof either[:x]both exciting novice chase prospects tho[:(] the gold cup is way way way better this year, the world hurdle is not[:p] having said all that (provoked you), i think it will be close, but i still think nicholls will be hard to pass. he doesnt idle out front |
By:
neill, nicholls has won the championship with many chancers riding for him, and riding quite a few at that
christian williams ryan mahon nick scholfield harry skelton sam slippy saddle thomas i think some of the above are ok, some not so ok but i think only sam thomas is good enough to ride for a top stable, and when he got his chances he spent more time on the ground than in the winners enclosure. i think his current jockey arrangements whereby ruby and daryl will get the vast majority of rides, and the above chancers will get next to none, will be the best hes had since hes started his championship winning streak[:(] im generally wrong though, so wait until the end of october when ruby is mooching around on a crutches, daryl is sacked because hes picked up a nack for decking horses and christian williams is running the jockey show ![]() ![]() ![]() |

By:
RDS, I agree Spirit Son is no Zarkander or Al Ferof - over hurdles, he will be far better IMO. They are doing the right thing IMO with Al Ferof, Ruby knows he'd not live with Hurricane, or Big Bucks, so best to go over fences IMO. Zarkander could improve massively for his wind op, but i'll be opposing him this yr.
By:
im a massive zark fan. hes got a champions pedigree and is very quick. hurricane fly is certainly the one to beat though, but id imagine zarkandar could well be 2nd fav come cheltenham.
i love nickys bobs worth, i think he will be hard to beat in the rsa if he keeps improving / takes well to fences |
By:
Yes, Bob's looks good, but if he jumps, Grands Crus or Mouse Morris' horse could be hard to beat. The Neptune is usually stronger than the 3m race, and Grands Crus is as highly rated as anything for a while to go over fences. Bob's does looks tough and good though - just what you need in the RSA.
Agree Hurricane is teh one to beat, but i think this yr's Triumph was moderate, think Grandouet would have won on a flat track, and whilst Zarkander may improve for his wind op, i think he'll need to significant;y as a 4 yr old rising 5. |
By:
i dont think grandouet would have won, i just think hes a strong traveller (not too desimilar to finians rainbow).
on that point, i wouldnt take much notice of the aintree race! also i think sam winner and unaccompanied could be good enough. time will tell i suppose! i dont think any other trainer has a hope in hell either, i suppose that goes without saying? |
By:
Spirit Son is better than that run in the Supreme. He will be the Fly's main danger this year if there is one.
By:
hes not a patch on zark[;)][:x]
By:
we will see in the not too distant future |
By:
yep. do you think theyll meet in the bula?
By:
Not too sure. Maybe Christmas Hurdle? I think Spirit Son's quite likely to turn up for Fighting Fifth
By:
itll be an interesting years racing as ever anyhow! nicky is always good with the hurdlers!
By:
Bula yes, and Spirit will not have to work for it IMO, unless he puts Binocular in it. Be interesting to see if Huricane comes - besides him, and with a question mark against Binocular, most are going over fences - Menorah, Peddlars, Cue Card (I think), Al F, Sprinter, Solwhit, and Oscar over further. I am bound to have missed a few out there. Sam Winner's last couple of runs looked bad. The Triumph suggested he wanted a trip, Aintree suggest he was OTT. I think fences and a trip will help.
By:
nicholls reckons hes an arkle horse, looks like further would suit sam winner too
By:
looks to me*
By:
Add Jump City to the list of Nicholls' horses. Seems quite sweet on it (with cut in the ground).
I will be following it closely, hopefully it's not another Brampour. |
By:
You're correct on the jockeys issue reve in hindsight.
By:
Very strange that in 6 months Binocular has gone from 3-1 fav for Champion hurdle to the forgotten horse.
By:
He is a flat bred by Enrique, he isn't really supposed to last to be fair.
By:
binocular is incredibly frustrating, maybe hes no good when his system is clean, if you get my drift
![]() |
By:
aye, he could well be just on the way down now though, in fact, I'd say its more likey than not that he is, but there isn't much depth in the 2 mile hurdling division in England so he might still nick a few races.
By:
paul nicholls is evens with paddy powers, its hard to get excited about a price like that but its better value than 5/4 njh anyhow i think
By:
I agree, Nicholls is fiercely competitive and he will have stockpiled the best prospects around last summer, he knows his stable stars are on the wain, I don't think henderson has that same ruthless streak, Nicholls fought like a scabby dog who hadn't eaten in weeks to win the title and he will not give it up without one hell of a fight.
By:
win the title from Pipe*
By:
Does it go on number of winners or prize money?
By:
Prize money, thankfully. If it had been the other, Henderson would have won last yr I think.
