Looking at silviniaco conti in nicholls recent videos, he looks to have bulked up quite a bit, he was quite gangly last year. Looking forward to the season :) Oscars well at 20/1 could be the only danger to hurricane fly tbh, Pulled his head off all the way around in the neptune still tanked to 2 out looking like the real deal.

Zarkander the only potential danger to the fly imo,he has that classy turn of foot needed to win a CH,as said before,more often than not,the CH is won by ex flat horses,its no coinceidence either,that flat turn of foot is whats needed and Zarkander can only improve this season,last seasons 1-2 in the CH we had a Classy ex flat horse against a previous p2p winner,only ever gonna be one winner there

I'm with Mandown. Heart/wallet broken by The Rainbow in the Arkle, but CONVINCED he'll piss the QM next year as CC will go further(FR basically out-stayed in the Arkle) and nowt will live with The Rainbow's LEAPS OF WONDER in the 2012 QMCC...

Really fancied this for the RSA Chase last season, and was very, very disappointed he didn't show up. Proved what he was capable of afterwards, with victory at Aintree and also at Punchestown. Seems very genuine and consistent, and fears about quicker ground were put to bed at the end of the season. With another year on his back, looks a likely contender for the top staying chases in Ireland (Lexus and Hennessy) and could be worth a nibble at a serious price for the Gold Cup. |

Quito for me too Joci. Bet him at crazy prices for the RSA last season, the only consolation being, it was clear a few weeks before that he wasn't going, saved me getting my hopes built up too much.
Your point about the quicker ground is a good one, thought that would be the one chink in his armour, but he put that to bed in good style. Hope you're right about Gold Cup, been betting a few quid a week on him for a while now, I really think he's got a serious chance. |

read on another forum somewhere that Colm Murphy has said the horse will avoid Cheltenham, preferring Aintree at its more suitable...

Bit of a surprise. Same trainer / connections were also adamant that the horse couldonly operate on soft ground, so not sure I'd take a lot of notice of that forum comment.

No idea what the plan is for Mikael D'Haguenet, but I would be interested in him over hurdles again. While Big bucks is undoubtedly king, this one could push him if he regains his confidence. Don't think he has the legs for jumping, always seems to crumple on landing.

Does he carry that status for the whole year again so could potentially run in the RSA again? That seems to be what the rules suggest, but it seems strange and can't have happened that often

yep, he can run in the rsa every year til he dies provided he never wins a chase!
not many run more than once in the rsa, because if theyre any good ie. worthy of running in it, then theyve generally won already earlier in the season |

It must be a rare thing for horse a to run in the RSA not having won before, still I think they would get more joy reverting to hurdles. He didn't show much in his last race at Punchestown, but who knows a full summer without injury and a win to regain confidence and he's still young enough to be a player

I'd be a big supporter of MDH if going down the World Hurdle route, think Mullins will perservere over fences though? Anyone in Ireland know anymore?

I think Rule Supreme had run in a few novice chases one season and came back in the RSA the following yr to win it.
In fact he won over fences I think at Punchestown late on meaning he was not a novice in Ireland but he was in the UK. The following yr he ran the Feltham over here and handicaps in Ireland, including a National trial, before going on to win the RSA. I only remember it vividly because he beat Our Vic at 25s, who I had the mortgage on (did not stay), at 11/8 after sluicing up in the reynoldstown. Rule Supreme could not really jump though and thereafter he made repeated mistakes so was mainly campaigned back over hurdles. I think he was an outstanding hurdler. Bellvano could do the same this yr (but wont, being no good). |

yes carver had him at 16-1 ante post that year ruddy thing must have hit 1.3 during the race and i never laid off. Then laid him the year he won the rynair great old boy he was but a fecking nightmare for my pocket

Same too mate - i loved him to bits but I think he detested me. He gave a stone and a hammering to Neptune in the Charlie Hall one day. He did not come off the bridle. Another grim affair! I remember David Pipe saying, after he had won the Ryanair, he thought he'd improved the horse a few pounds after taking over from his dad Martin!!

This horse strikes me as an ideal horse to go chasing with ,very athletic at his hurdles he'll be very quick at his fences. Lost his way a bit last year but could see him being rejuvenated over fences. Disappointing to here that their sending PEDDLERS CROSS over fences. He is easliy the best english 2m hurdler and could have mopped up the fighting fifth, christmas hurdle and Bula hurdle before having to encounter the mighty HF again. What if HF picks up a injury? Hope jumping fences doesn't mess him up as he's the best english 2m hurdler I've seen for a long time. |

Thegreatjohnbrowne should win a decent 2 1/2 - 3 mile handicap chase round Punchestown or Fairyhouse and could end up being high class.
Jessies Dream is a potentially top class 2 1/2 mile chaser who can win a big handicap chase off his current mark. Minella Class should be top class over 2 1/2 - 3 miles and fences but Cheltenham may not be his track. Diamond Hary to win anything in softt ground left handed before Christmas. Flat track preferred. Iconoclast to carry on winning right handed in soft ground over fences. Best fresh. |

lovethehigherlaw is popular mainly down to his high profile scrap with waaheb in the punchestown champion flat race but for the purposes of selecting an irish novice to follow i'll be looking at MOUNT BENBULBEN who beat the former pointless last season and was promptly bought by mullins for £250,000.
CHAMPION COURT is another that i'll be keeping a close eye on, although he had a mishap first time out chasing up at perth when unseating i think he has a big future over the larger obstacles, he was classy over hurdles winning a grade 2 after hitting practically every hurdle but staying on strongly to win going away.....in the albert bartlett he once again absolutely tanked through the race but coming down the hill got caught out but stayed on to finish 4th.......he needs to jump better over fences than he did hurdles races....and learn to settle better...but to pull like he does and be able to last as long as he did in his races shows his quality i think... he has the potential to be able to compete against the very best novices this year. |

I would be very interested in Rigour Back Bob for the RSA if he were to go over fences. Badly hampered at the top of the hill in the World Hurdle but ran on really well to be beaten only 5 lengths by Big Bucks, moral 2nd in my book.
Makes him strong fancy if goes chasing. |

all round disappointing start for mount benbulben.....came down on the flat but barely jumped a hurdle cleanly before that...don't know why i thought mullins had bought him....elliott has got him.
