I'd love to see Imperial Commander win again because imo he hasn't been given the credit he deserves for winning first time around. People would have to respect his achievement winning back to back Gold Cups.
Report cruise d March 5, 2011 12:10 AM GMT
I've always prefered Denman to KS. But now it feels like Kauto has been written off as past it I'd love to see him win. A good ground GC and you never know there is still a slim chance he could pull it off.
Report penzance March 5, 2011 12:12 AM GMT
no bet in the race but Cue Card,
Joe Tizzard gets a bit of stick on here.

Washington Irvine. We might see a few more of those flat horses have their balls chopped off and put over hurdles next year. Would be great to see a Derby 1-2-3 try to frank the form in the Triumph hurdle.
Report Tommy Toes March 5, 2011 2:44 AM GMT
Yes, forgive me - Washington Irving takes top spot!
Report ilikewavingatbuses March 5, 2011 2:45 AM GMT

i also like lough derg as horses go, ive always just taken to him, just want to see him win!
Report Tommy Toes March 5, 2011 3:10 AM GMT
*Irvine - just noticed, I keep misspelling his name.
I must be thinking that a change of tactics by deed poll will make him win!

Lough Derg would be a great winner. I love the 'battlers'.
Report Tavaris Jackson March 5, 2011 3:28 AM GMT
Pandorama

Unlikely I'll have a penny on him. I'd consider backing with Good to Soft/soft in places but thats unlikely on Gold Cup day.
I'd cheer him home though.

Mister McGoldrick
Report Glossy March 5, 2011 8:34 AM GMT
Lough Derg or Kauto winning would make the Festival and more for me.
Report wellchief March 5, 2011 12:16 PM GMT
Another vote for Cue Card

Last year the atmosphere went abit flat after Dunguib got beat, and would get the Tuesday off to a great start.

Also, feel sorry for Tizzard over Joe Lively Sadand KilmurrySad this year, and the latest blow with Hell's Bay - fella deserves a bit of luck
Report buddeliea March 5, 2011 12:23 PM GMT
Tidal Bay,for the stick he receives.
Report Far From Trouble March 5, 2011 12:34 PM GMT
Denman country mile, favourite horse ever.

Powerstation - won't happen obviously, but impeccable festival placing record

Cue Card because I hope he's as good as I think he is

honourable mentions for Lough Derg and Kauto Star

Kauto Star
Report ReaseHeath March 5, 2011 12:55 PM GMT
All of Sparky May, Cue Card and Tidal Bay would be really special for different reasons.

But victories for either Denman or Mr McGoldrick would bring a tear to my eye and a lump to my eye.

Unlikrly to back any of them with the possible exception of Cue Card.

Barafundle is a nice shout too - I also like the cut of that yard's jib.
Report ReaseHeath March 5, 2011 12:56 PM GMT
^ that's a lump to my throat - lump to my eye more liely to occur after skirmish prompted by overhearing some oik cheering a faller.
Report unclepuncle March 5, 2011 2:23 PM GMT
Gone To Lunch in the Foxhunters - even Lazarus would be proud of him if he can do itHappy
Report horse9 March 5, 2011 2:30 PM GMT
I have three:
Garde Champetre - bidding for 3rd Cross Country
Quevega - bidding for 3rd mares race
Kauto - bidding for 3rd Gold Cup
Report HankTheTank March 5, 2011 4:20 PM GMT
IF Denman wins I'll have the mother of all hangovers on Sat' am.

Love the Tank.
Report CVByrne March 5, 2011 4:55 PM GMT
Kauto Star winning a deserved 3rd Gold Cup would probably be the best moment in the history of the sport.
Report neill d March 5, 2011 5:39 PM GMT
Has to be Kauto, even though its not original.
Report Far From Trouble March 5, 2011 5:42 PM GMT

Report Far From Trouble March 5, 2011 5:47 PM GMT

Report neill d March 5, 2011 5:49 PM GMT

Report Hussard March 5, 2011 6:43 PM GMT
Long Run - Owned by his Dad. Ridden by his amatuer son who has been widely criticised as not up to it. It would be some family truimph to win the KG and Gold Cup with what is basically a 7lb penalty not being able to claim any allowances.
Report Wilbertros March 5, 2011 6:58 PM GMT
would absolutely love Hurricane Fly to bolt up - years in the making.  Willie deserves it for managing to keep the thing fit!
Report Denmanism March 5, 2011 11:33 PM GMT
Denman, with Kauto outpaced again.Wouldn't it be lovely.
Report ACStafford March 6, 2011 12:38 AM GMT
Kauto Star without a doubt. However, a Denman victory would be a great consolation if KS was beat.
Report MR G March 6, 2011 1:16 AM GMT
I don't fancy it but yes I'd love the tank to do it.

I have always supported it over Kauto but I suppose I'd like Kauto to win if Denman can't.

Don't fancy either but I'm not having a bet in the GC because I want one of the old guard to win.

I think I'm going soft in my old age.

Yeah and I'd love to see ArkleLaugh

Without a doubt Kauto Star. Be better than watching Lassie save the day.

Of the younger flock I'd have to go with Peddlar's Cross because he's unbeaten and could see him as being hailed as one of the best ever, which would be great for racing.

HURRICANE FLY - Two years of injury on eve of cheltenham when favorite. If Ruby on board as well what a story with his comeback.Think the horse will start fav on day as well knowing how the Irish will get stuck in.
Report call it a day March 7, 2011 8:59 PM GMT
Cue Card for me. Wouldn't it be fantastic to stick it up Joe's many detractors, and all the idiots on here who are constantly crabbing the horse. The horse has already achieved more than most novices in the past decade!
Report R Carver March 7, 2011 9:13 PM GMT
Good shout Uncle = I adore Gone to Lunch.
Report Masterminded March 7, 2011 9:55 PM GMT
Denman would be special. Not sure it's possible though. I also would love to see Finians Rainbow smashing up the Arkle. He's got plenty of people having a dig at him but he's the only potential star in the race.
