Gutfeeling,
i understand your point and its a fair one,but personally i aint bothered as long as he proves he can jump well, and if the trainer thinks its the right thing to do to run him in another easyish race, then fine. I may be wrong, but i dont think too many Arkle trials,if yer like, have that big fields anyway, off top of my head i cant recall too many. |
By:
Gutfeeling, I think you will find Well Chief only ran in 1 novice chase at Taunton before winning the Arkle and Champleve only ran in 2 nov chases before doing the same. Niether had even run in a chase before Feb of the same year.
So, if you are asking if it is possible for FR to win with limited experience then the aswer is Yes. |

Assuming Geraghty will be on Finian's in the Arkle after odds on Henderson horse Nadiya De La Vega in all likelihood wins today.
By:
Well assume Finian's is better than Vega will Geraghty still be on him hope so for punters on here, have Vega in a double with Chablais.
By:
fkin iPad gave impression it submitted bet on one half stake of double on here (other half stake at bookies) cost me 400 quid in winnings. Advice to self do not use iPad for Betfair. B*gger, still 2k up.

both make good points i guess i was just playing devils advocate for a change, for me this year i havent seen a horse that has really stood out for the arkle and believe it to be a open race atm,i do like to see my horses have a hard race rather than win on the bridle as we all love those easy free running bridle winners and i've been caught out before by a few who found little when push came to shove so really i was questioning not so much the horses ability as obviously he has plenty just his determination in a hard fought race and i'd like to see him win a hard one before i;d back him. best wishes to you both with whoever you back ![]() |

Will be interesting to hear what Geraghty has to say on Wednesday after the race, perhaps he will compare him to Nadiya De La Vega to give an idea of how much more is to come?
By:
Found this about Nadiya De La Vega
Henderson feels his five-year-old may be more effective over two and a half miles, although she was cut to 16-1 from 25s by Coral for the Arkle. He said: "She's a great big mare and a slightly longer trip might help her a bit. I must admit I thought she was going to throw it away but apart from the second-last, she jumped really well. We'll see how we go over two and a half and could think about the Jewson." |
By:
Perhaps he doesn't believe she can beat something else he has in the yard, you never know.
By:
Medermit wins this cosy, 16lbs superior on hurdles ratings and the all important festival form. They will go for this not the Jewson I think despite suggestions in the press over the past few weeks, the plan is changing. Finians beat Hells Bay over an inferior trip for Hells Bay. Choc and AK have won this twice in 6 years and know what they have.

i bkd him last year for the arkle last year @ 40-25's for king to keep him to hrds! gutted. havnt had a penny on him for this years ante post.
bt agree that he will go for arkle. only havnt bkd him because of his jumping at aintree was dodge. found out there was a problem with the fences at aintree that meeting tho. bt his last run was alot better, he cleaver at a few. why go for the jewson or the new 2m5 novice when they cud in an arkle, much more prestigious race!! and i think the arkle does'nt look as conpetitive as the other. ive bkd finnians rainbow already bt do think i need to a medermit asap |
By:
medermit over fences over 2m,no thanks, but good luck!!

Fla out at 20's is the bet will be 8s after winning the Irish Arkle
By:
Noy much more than a schooling exercise really - still impossible to know how good he is.
By:
Trust me he's very good, dont say i didnt tell you. Take the 16s because its the best you will see
By:
FLAT OUT is a very well regarded horse at home, but will Mullins aim him at the Arkle? All I've read is that he thought he needed 20f+ to show his best.
By:
finnians out again soon as he is fresh according to hendo. ill be layoing out when hehoses up there
By:
The Arkle is the main aim, im just saying now he's worth a punt.
By:
16s cleared in Bet365 there
By:
all to prove id rather have it in the book.
By:
FR diffrent clas magnificent jumper with a huge engine gonna take all the beating in the arkle
flat out gotta jump a lot better |
By:
Finians looks all speed to me - so a decent round of jumping will have the others in trouble imo.
His jumping is certainly brave and athletic, though he dosen't instill me with confidence in the same way as say Best Mate or Azertyioup did. He's more like Moscow Flyer in that respect. |
By:
hero of the day stake and chips great stuff
![]() |
By:
Flat outs jumping had improved dramatically over the winter, think he looks a very good price for sunday also
By:
Jumped well apart from the water and the 3rd which was a bad mistake. Race was a non event in truth and all it proved is he's still fine. He needs to have a harder race than this as this was just a basic 2m schooling.
By:
Very classy animal.Stays well, jumps fine, and looks to have plenty of speed.
Worthy fav. |
By:
I'm not sure how big his engine is but there won't be a more economical fencer in the Arkle - cracking stuff over the last seven obstacles.
By:
credible challenger but i cant see that hes a more economical jumper than ghizao
By:
mmmmm
By:
very hard to say which is most economical, both only had 2 runs.
Think FR is the classier racehorse though, and simply imo is the better of the 2. Hurdles form certainly backs that up,although i do know that Ghizao has had a wind op,how much difference that makes i aint sure, but it must improve a horses breathing. Anyway out of the 2 i am confident i am on the right one. |
By:
He's in my combis in case but just dont think he has what you need to win the Arkle and he is a very short price currently considering so much has to be taken on trust with him. They are doing their best to avoid him coming off the bridle as he cruises so well. Talk of a pacemaker for him to make use of this makes a lot of sense however no matter what they do he will be coming off the bridle up the hill with others snapping at him. That is where the race is won not cruising down the back straight. Hope I'm wrong on this.
By:
I think the Arkle will find him out. I would not want to be on him when the gun is put to his head in that race. There is a fall or serious mistake waiting to happen.
By:
the difference this year is that the gun is going to be put to his head over 2 miles and not 2 miles 3/5.....he got beat last term through not getting home....not because he finds nothing off the bridle.......i think ghizao at the head of the market shows that the competition isn't there this year...certainly over here.......finians apart that is.
By:
It's not the distance it's the jumping at pace. One of those fences will find him out in my opinion.
By:
He's an all or nothing horse imo; he'll either win doing handstands or fall (most likely at the second last!)
I have backed him, so hopefully the former! |
By:
watch FR over a 2m as when he ran in a novice hurdle at newbury last season he was under pressure 3 out and stayed on strongly all the way to the line if hes a bridle horse im a blind man
all this talk is based on 1 run when blantly over a trip too far u put equiano over a 1m2f do u think he,ll weaken of course he will people who have backed ghizao need something to cling on too dont they cos not only is FR a better jumper but judging on the only time they have met a much much classier and better horse |
By:
Alvarado very true that. Was there when he ran in that hurdle race and was not stopping for anything. He was never going to be quite quick enough over hurdles to win a supreme imo so thats why they went for the step up in trip and imo if it was ran on a flatter track he would have won. 2 miles over fences is his optimum and he really is very good at it.
