Thought I might as well reply to myself !
![]() Wayward Prince's race today maybe threw up more questions than answers but certainly put him in the frame with a C&D win now and interesting to see Magnanimity at Punchestown really boosting the form of Thegreatjohnbrowne who goes tommorrow. |
By:
Not an awful lot imo, although agreed about TFR
Mullins has a big say in this if he can somehow get his '08 and '09 Ballymore winners back in top form |
By:
I thought Thegreatjohnbrowne was quite impressive today but we'll learn more about him before the new year. I think your right though re Mullins...if he could get both MDH and 543 back and in full fitness it would give the race a whole new complexion form an ante post point of view

Don't forget Quel Esprit, runs at Limerick tomorrow over a short 2m 3f. Was being spoken of as WMs best candidate for this race this time last year
By:
Quel Esprit wins RSA, simple as that. Ruby and Mullins think he's something special. Mullins has always said this was an RSA horse. He fell at Cheltenham in the Neptune and has been forgotten about.

quel esprit
By:
i like john browne aswell
By:
i think hes not as good as mikael dhaguenet but i suppose if both run which i suppose is probably unlikely although possible, then whichever ruby picks is probably better. wouldnt back him antepost
By:
Quel Espirit about to kick off his chase career ..
By:
He can jump thats for sure. Some performance that
By:
I'm loaded up to the eyeballs ap for this lad for RSA. Always going to be at his best over fences. RSA winner. Said it on here last season.
By:
With you all the way on this one CVB. Saw him win a bumper two years ago at Leop and even then was looking forward to the day he'd go jump fence. Wins the RSA easy, Ruby and Willie know it too I'd say

By:
Very nice performance, but not even the trainers first pick for this race imo.
And I'm yet to be totally convinced he stays 3m well enough to win the RSA. I think its telling that they chose the stronger race in the Neptune rather than go for the Albert Bartlett. If MdH makes it to the RSA, I wouldnt be surprised if they switched QE to the new 2m4f race. |
By:
I like Quel Esprit but his trainer believes the more ease in the ground the better.
Which is obviously a concern betting ante post for cheltenham. |
By:
hes a good horse but you cant win the rsa in november. wont get cut in ground coe festival id say
By:
Don't forget Wymott. Beat Wayward Prince as he liked over hurdles and likely to be better over fences judged by his debut-jumped great and won v easily.
By:
Thought that was a really nice performance today by Quel Esprit and the runner up ran a cracker too, 2 nice horses for the rest of season. Quel jumped like a stag is my idea of the RSA winner this season.
By:
Hard to believe that was his first run over fences. He was majestic. Will be aimed at the G1 Knight Frank at Leopardstown at Christmas, the race Pandorama beat RSA winner Weapons Amnesty in last year.
There is no such thing as 2nd string. Talented horses are talented horses, and if you read and hear what Willie said about this horse last season and the fact Ruby chose to ride him twice at the festival goes to show how high a regard he is held in. Watch this space. |
By:
He jumped very well, quick and making a great shape. If he stays he's a major player.
By:
He was quick and slick at his fences on Heavy ground and beat a good yardstick, so all in all a good debut. He does seem to like testing ground though which would be a slight concern, until proven otherwise.
I wouldn't necessarily see him as a 2nd string horse either, particularly as MDH keeps having set-backs. |
By:
He is the first stand out value bet for the festival. Only thing I can see getting close to him is Time for Rupert. Have a feeling though that that one may well have shot it's load a bit too soon.
By:
The RSA looks more competitive than the Arkle at this stage, imo, which is unusual given we are talking about staying chasers here.
By:
Not so unusual surely? The Arkle is often reduced to 3 or 4 serious contenders by Christmas but the RSA often has up to ten fancied on the day.

Tell Massini entered for a grade 2 novice chase at Newmury this thursday. Looking at the line-up, he should really win this imo
By:
Tell Massini developing diva-ish tendencies?
By:
what you mean Quvega ?
By:
Was on RUKs jumps season preview. Has twice refused to come out of pre-parade ring and had to be taken out the back way onto the course where he was also reluctant to enter on to the course. Has a pony companion but still proving recalcitrant.
By:
Oh dear. Never knew that tbh
![]() I've included him in my TTF lists. |
By:
Didn't stop him winning last time though tbf and didn't notice any awkward traits during race from what I can remember so providing they can get him on course should hopefully be ok.
By:
Yep. It's news to me and didn't notice when he won last time at Stratford as you say.

MDH may be running in the Grade 1 Drinmore Novice Chase next weekend.
The star novice hurdler, who was unbeaten in six starts for Mullins in the 2008-2009 season when he won three times at Grade 1 level, could make his debut over Irish fences in the Grade 1 Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse on November 28. Mikael D'Haguenet schooled with seven stablemates and jumped like an experienced chaser with his trainer and Townend expressing themselves "thrilled "with his display. Mullins said: "You'd have to be delighted with that. He jumped from fence to fence. He did run second in a chase in France over two years ago before he came to us and while the Drinmore will be a big ask first time over fences for us, it is quite possible that he will run. |
By:
I am going to Newbury on Thursday so will keep a close eye on Tell Massini.
By:
Tell Massini is on course to continue his education over fences in the GPG Novices' Chase at Newbury on Thursday.
A smart staying novice hurdler last term, the six-year-old made the perfect start when switching to the bigger obstacles with an easy victory at Stratford last month. He steps up to Grade Two class at the Berkshire track and trainer Tom George is bullish about his prospects. "He's very much on target for that and I'm looking forward to seeing him run," said the Slad handler. "He's come on since Stratford. He's done everything we've asked him to do and I couldn't be happier with him." |
