Fancy this one for the arkle this year.Did well over hurdles last year but always looked like he would make a better chaser.Ran well for long way in 3mile novice last year but didnt stay the distance and won easy over 2 at the punchestown festival.Anyone any info on targets for this horse?am a bit wary of backing antepost now they have the 2.5mile novice.

probably right to be wary but in the three books ive purchased pre season all say arkle is the target.
Report flyingbolt October 17, 2010 7:41 PM BST
I suspect those books would have been written before the new race was announced but the Arkle is surely the most likely target.
Report rhinestone October 17, 2010 9:20 PM BST
The one I'm most looking forward to this season Love

Arkle....unless he's shows he's not good/fast enough then he could switch to the new race. Although, think he may be an Arkle cert ShockedCool
Report Howdi October 17, 2010 9:37 PM BST
good point flyingbolt.
Report millhouse October 17, 2010 11:11 PM BST
Very talented horse this one, imho...
Report TD_Gunner October 17, 2010 11:16 PM BST
Now that GMOOH is not going chasing, this is my early Arkle fancy, seriously impressive at Punchestown and very highly regarded by Mullins.
Report JOCI Club October 17, 2010 11:43 PM BST
Another fan here!
Report Can't Catch Me October 18, 2010 3:43 PM BST
Yep top of my list of exciting horses for next year too. Travelled like a dream at Chelts before not getting home, looks better on decent ground. Just needs to be able to jump!
Report PFtrader October 18, 2010 5:21 PM BST
I'm a believer
Report R Carver October 18, 2010 5:33 PM BST
Really like this horse too, ground usually has some dig in it on ythe first day, and you have to stay to win the arkle, but my only concern is why he was run in the 3 miler last yr? they had the grey for the ballymore, true, but what signals was this horse giving at home to run in the 3miler?
Report Mickie D October 18, 2010 10:15 PM BST
somebody nibbling ath this today
Report cyrusdailami October 20, 2010 10:40 PM BST
absolutely LOVE this for the Arkle. My main cheltenham bet. cannnot believe 25-1 still left in places, a JOKE of a price, genuinely reckon it goes off at 9/2 on the day and wins comfortably. Alan king still not firing, celestial cant jump, captain chris will go for the RSA. get on NOW!
Report Can't Catch Me October 20, 2010 10:43 PM BST
celestial cant jump

Getting a little carried away imo!
Report cyrusdailami October 20, 2010 10:44 PM BST
watch the race and aintree at the end of last season. watch the race yesterday. It keeps overjumping the fences, cant afford to miss a beat at cheltenham, not for me thanks.
Report Graeme83 October 20, 2010 11:20 PM BST
I'd like to see Punjabi take to the chasing. I think he'd be a ha;f decent shout at this stage despite not having a bet.

Bit of a drift on AL. Anybody heard anything?
Report Can't Catch Me November 7, 2010 10:45 PM GMT
Getting worried now...

Plain
Report Temlett November 8, 2010 2:19 PM GMT
Seems to be steady now.
Report sintonian November 9, 2010 10:45 AM GMT
what price did he drift to CCM ? He is 22 at the moment.
Report Can't Catch Me November 9, 2010 11:36 AM GMT
There was a little bit of 24/25 knocking about, and almost nothing on the lay side. Seems to have steadied out as Temlett says, but he was solid around the 16.5 mark previously.

Still a bit of a negative imo.
Report sintonian November 9, 2010 12:02 PM GMT
but wasn't he originally available at 25/1 across most bookmakers before the season started ? Isn't it just the market correcting itself after the initial rush of money ?
Report Can't Catch Me November 9, 2010 2:10 PM GMT
Yep, could well be mate. Fingers crossed thats what it is
Report ChildOfMine2 November 9, 2010 6:45 PM GMT
Don't think he or Mikael will be enterred up until Willie's horses start to show a bit better form.
Report cyrusdailami November 9, 2010 7:28 PM GMT
apparently because of an interview with a owner on tv- debating what to enter it in. However theyve decided to go for the arkle for sure now. 16-1 across oddschecker.
Report Beryl November 9, 2010 7:33 PM GMT
I;ve heard from a very good source that he is out for the season. I was told this morning.

I promise you, I'm not on a wind up here.
Report cyrusdailami November 9, 2010 7:40 PM GMT

Cyrus,
the guy (a friend) who told me was convinced. He had backed him for the Arkle and was gutted.
I hope I'm wrong and he has been fed dud information. But he's well connected and as I said, he was convinced.
Report Mickie D November 9, 2010 7:45 PM GMT

Report cyrusdailami November 9, 2010 7:52 PM GMT
yea doesn't look good, hopefully it will just be a minor setback or something. can't see how the fixed odds boys in the shop still have it so short. just pray its another binocular over again.

love the optimism Cyrus, given that was oct 20th!!

Still,i hope he does get to Cheltenham for you.
Report cyrusdailami November 9, 2010 8:18 PM GMT
i do love it, such a good horse, jumps so fast, travels like a dream. just hope the 'injury scare' isnt true and its just overreaction to a drift- would be great to see it line up at the festival..

i just did some digging round, mark howard says in his updates 'he received an email today (9/11/10) saying it is a heat injury of a tendon and will be scanned next week, so not nessecarily out for the year, earliest could be seen is after xmas' so not all gloom and doom.

Does anyone actually know whats happening with this horse. He has been backed with several bookies and has come back in on Betfair. Surely if there was something wrong Mullins would have said something by now.
Report cyrusdailami November 10, 2010 9:02 PM GMT
Trust me an injured horse does not get entered into a race in 18 days time. people need to stop worrying about a minor drift and setback. people overreact. Go on Arvika!!!
Report Howdi November 10, 2010 10:25 PM GMT
They've just realised he's no good hence the drift
Report cyrusdailami November 12, 2010 9:47 PM GMT
Did anyone find out what actually happened to Arvika to cause the drastic drift on betfair? seems to be still quite short with the highstreet bookies? and it now has an entry for the 28th Nov, surely cant be injured? does anyone know?
Report resner not lesnar November 12, 2010 10:53 PM GMT
Somewhere else on here it was suggested he was out til after Xmas, but starnge if he is entered in a couple of weeks. Perhaps the Arkle isn't the only race under consideration or the injury wasn't as bad as first feared??
Report Swardean November 13, 2010 3:45 PM GMT
The 28th Nov was an earlier entry race so means nothing that he is still entered as not reach the next forfeit stage
Report cyrusdailami November 13, 2010 4:12 PM GMT
trust me, he was entered for it on tuesday, ive been monitoring his entries every day. you dont make entries for an injured horse.
Report Temlett November 13, 2010 9:51 PM GMT
He was not entered on Tuesday. The entries for that closed on 3 November. They were published on Tueaday.

Report cyrusdailami November 14, 2010 9:32 PM GMT
I just wish we were told by mullins, starting to get silly now. someone should just throw out a press release. having said that surely if it was injured that badly it would not be second fav across the board for the Arkle
Report Mickie D November 14, 2010 10:02 PM GMT
Why should WPM post an update?  Who started the rumour - Mark Howard last Thursday in his Cheltenham update.  It is he who should release an update from his "reliable source" - not WPM
Report sintonian November 14, 2010 10:10 PM GMT
Agree.
Report cyrusdailami November 14, 2010 10:15 PM GMT

Report Can't Catch Me November 18, 2010 5:56 PM GMT
Back into 18. That was all a bit weird!

Didnt see your reply before Howdi. Bmiley, that seems a bit strong! I've seen plenty more hyped horses who have achieved less tbh. Obviously you havent been impressed, but the way he travelled at Cheltenham, and then the way he won at Punchestown said to me he could be potentially special. Looks built for fences too.

Report BJG November 18, 2010 9:08 PM GMT

Report Temlett November 18, 2010 9:27 PM GMT
On the other hand, if he is not fine, then Dave Duggan should be the victim of that boot.
Report ChildOfMine2 November 18, 2010 9:56 PM GMT
I still think something is up with Arvika as he aint enterred in any of the novice chases at Naas or Thurles next week unlike Mikael, Secant Star and a good few others. I'd be a bit worried if I was an Arvika backer.

ARVIKA LIGEONNIERE, as low as12-1 for next March's Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham, will miss the rest of the season following a setback.

A winner at last season's Punchestown festival after finishing fourth to Bertie's Dream in the Albert Bartlett at the Festival, Rich Ricci's five year-old was expected to figure highly among the season's two-mile novice chasers.

But the setback has meant that connections have decided to play a waiting game with the son of Arvico.

Trainer Willie Mullins said: "I brought Arvika Ligeonniere away recently and schooled him and he worked well. But over the following few days I wasn't happy with him and, simply, he got jarred."

David Duggan would want a swift kick in de hole for pretending he was some way "in the know" here

Shame, was really lookin forward to this oneSad

Report cyrusdailami January 24, 2011 8:05 PM GMT
all of a sudden a quiet move for this on betfair- having been matched at 1000 the graph has dropped massively with constant money- last price matched 65s. does anyone know anything about this?
Report HawkWinger January 24, 2011 8:09 PM GMT
there is always one horse that does this...however, I would be shocked if it went chasing. Sending it to Cheltenham with so little experience would be suicidal and not something Mullins does anyway. One for next year !
