assuming that diamond harry goes elsewhere or even with him in the race?
Report starspangledbanner September 27, 2010 7:28 PM BST
cant jump,end of chance!
Report revedesivola September 27, 2010 7:31 PM BST
too little experience id say. im 99 percent sure nick williams will have his jumping much better than last season. bensalem has never beat DH
Report Masterminded September 27, 2010 7:39 PM BST
can jump will jump will win FACT
Report revedesivola September 27, 2010 7:42 PM BST
oh sorry, i thought that comment by the ballydoyle inmate was about diamond harry. I do think bensalem is a very good horse. how much less than diamond harry is he rated over fences do you know?
Report TD_Gunner September 27, 2010 7:42 PM BST
Will have to settle for 2nd behind Weird Al
Report Albion Dan September 27, 2010 7:45 PM BST
Bensalem, Weird Al reverse forcast NAP.

Is trafford lad back from injury cuz there's the combination tricast!

Diamond Harry 156 v Bensalem 143 at Chelt last year on BHA ratings.

Not sure how they will sit currently after both failing to finish.
Report Masterminded September 27, 2010 7:46 PM BST
Laugh^ hmmm big danger I agree. im going to look at the ratings
Report Masterminded September 27, 2010 7:48 PM BST

Weird Al**********

I now agree TD Weird Al is gna hack up
Report Mickie D September 27, 2010 10:07 PM BST
Bensalem off 143 in the paddy power would be aknock out bet, especialoly if as njh says long run and mad max run (158 or so?)
Report Wayward Lad September 27, 2010 10:27 PM BST
Without a doubt, a well schooled BENSALEM is going to be well-handicapped if going straight for the Hennessey. Will he have a pipe-opener?

But I expect David Pipe to send THE PACKAGE to the race as well and try an repeat his win with Madison Du Berlais. Don't overlook OGEE, ANY CURRENCY or WEIRD AL. And there are others such as BALLABRIGS, GALLANT NUIT, PRINCE DE BEAUCHENE who will also go to the race with a chance.

But, given what I've seen on the racecours to date, for me its WEIRD AL.
Report duffy September 27, 2010 11:50 PM BST
trainer isn't confident that the hennessy would suit weird al...ballabriggs probably won't see a fence until the national....so i'm hoping that kempes is sent over and wins.Happy
Report revedesivola September 28, 2010 10:33 AM BST
diamond harry with brushed up jumping will be better than bensalem over fences but bensalems mark is very good for the hennessy. i hope diamond harry is put in the irish hennessy, john durkan and lexus
Report ilikewavingatbuses September 28, 2010 11:00 AM BST
hes a woeful jumper it has to be said!!good horse but wont carry my money!!

gl
Report revedesivola September 28, 2010 11:04 AM BST
yeah i know but i think he would have been much better last season had he started off as a chaser. if hes goin to win grade one chases then i think the irish ones would be the easiest
Report cyclops September 28, 2010 12:32 PM BST
Bensalem won't be in the Hennessy. Has had pneumonia and pleurisy since coming back from his summer break. While they're happier with him now, it will be the New Year before he runs.
Report tomdeane September 28, 2010 1:45 PM BST
Cyclops, is this genuine info?
Report neill d September 28, 2010 2:05 PM BST
Think this horse will line up in Gold Cup this year
Report Wayward Lad September 28, 2010 2:20 PM BST
What makes you think that?
It's not impossible neill but, let's be honest, the horse has a mountain to climb before then!
Report kauto_kauto September 28, 2010 2:30 PM BST
there was worrying summer for the Bensalem team but the good news from Alan a few weeks ago was that Bensalem who developed pneumonia and pleurisy after being hit with a bout of travel sickness on the way back from his summer holiday in Ireland, has returned and is well on the road to recovery.

Bensalem returned from the vets is making good progress. Obviously, it is too early to make predictions about the season ahead, but it is a case of so far so good.

dont know what his targets are.

hope this helps.

I believe he has now been ridden for the first time which is amazing considering the news the last time I was at the yard.
Report revedesivola September 28, 2010 3:07 PM BST
dont think hes ever going to be as good as diamond harry, id say he will be a high end handicapper

thats great to hear i heard about him being back in training a few weeks ago.

iv been trying to get news on Pantxoa have you heard much about him?

thanks.
Report R Carver September 28, 2010 4:08 PM BST
reve - please! do you take the newbury novice form literally? but for the mistake at the cross fence, imo Ben would have destroyed DH.
Report Masterminded September 28, 2010 4:45 PM BST
o dear glad to hear hes back and getting better! I would think he will bypass the hennessey then. hopefully see him in the new year
Report revedesivola September 28, 2010 7:02 PM BST
r carver. DH has beaten bensalem 3 times from 3 runs. Bensalem is not being pulled back or anything and their both sketchy jumpers(last year) so i cant see bensalem being better than DH anytime.
Report Ibrahima Sonko September 28, 2010 7:34 PM BST
Bensalem would had beaten DH if he had not smashed the cross fence at newbury and i am DH's biggest fan.
Report revedesivola September 28, 2010 7:41 PM BST
diamond harry made mistakes in newbury too and i think if they both jumped fluently then DH would have won. i think its fair to say that neither horse jumped well last season and with that in wind dh has won 3 from 3. i think that speeks for itself but i do think that if both horses went for a handicap for the first race of the season then bensalem would wi as hes better handicapped!Happy
Report R Carver September 28, 2010 7:50 PM BST
Not sure I agree with that Reve, but only time will tell! I like your enthusiasm for the Williams horses, he is a top trainer.
Report revedesivola September 28, 2010 8:04 PM BST
yeah top class isnt he. Im only a young lad(less than 25) and my plan is to get rich. Dont ask me how...for 2 reasons.1 Im not quite sure how to go about it yet and 2. i wudnt tell any1 if i came up with a world beating idea. Anyway, when i do get rich i will definately have horses in trainin with the mighty mr williams... and im irish. unbelievable how good his string is considering they have all been bought for less than about 20000. he has some new ones that cost a little more though(max of 35000) so it will be very interesting to see whats to comeHappy
Report R Carver September 28, 2010 8:13 PM BST
I quite agree reve - he's very good, I like the way he goes about it - and good luck getting rich, backing his horses selectively is a good plan.
Report revedesivola September 28, 2010 8:29 PM BST
I have to say im very selective(dont mean to sound arrogant) but im not sure if its the best way of getting rich. i think youd need to be very disciplined. i think theres a lot of money to be made though, only really on betfair i think.i really hope diamond harry will be a top class chaser and i think very good odds are on offer for a horse like him who has disappointed on his last run but clearly has ability. I mostly bet on horses from this yard because i am very interested in it and so read a lot about it and study it a bit too. I think from reading articles about nick williams and listening to his reactions to various races that he will give the ride on diamond harry to daryl jacob
Report R Carver September 28, 2010 8:37 PM BST
I think Diamond loves Newbury, is best fresh (thats the time to catch him imo), and is potentially much better than his chase profile so far suggests. He'll be interesting at Newbury, wont carry my money i dont think, but imo if he is ever going to scoop a big pot, this could be it (assuming that is his target). Btw, i agree, being selective is the key, though i know some think its based on turnover. Good luck RDS.
Report revedesivola September 28, 2010 8:40 PM BST
bound to be fresh as nick williams has learned hes only a 3 to 4 running horse per season. good luck
Report Mandeville Anne Lover September 28, 2010 9:29 PM BST
Does everyone agree Weird Al will win it.

Trainers confident to say the least...

smashin horse and hope he can win a big race for noel fehilys sake. good rider is noel
Report Albion Dan September 28, 2010 9:45 PM BST
What has the trainer said about Weird Al please MAL?
Report RyanWe September 28, 2010 10:02 PM BST
Guys, where are you getting these ratings from? I've got new official ratings as follows

Weird Al - Moved from 140 to 152
Diamond Harry - Moved from 156 to 152
Bensalem - Still on 143 over fences (but now 153 over hurdles)

I think Bensalem is definitely well handicapped. I was one of Diamond Harry's biggest fans last season, but I'm doubting whether he has the scope to make it right to the top and I can see him struggling as a second season chaser. Hope he proves me wrong though, no doubting his engine.
Report revedesivola September 28, 2010 10:17 PM BST
ryan theres a video on youtube from the open day at nick williams that u might b interested in. just type in diamond harry and it will come up...
Report RyanWe September 28, 2010 10:35 PM BST
Lol just watched it. Would of been nice to see him jump some fences or something, all I could take from it was that he still has 4 legs Laugh. He is only 7 though, so you'd hope there was more to come.
Report revedesivola September 28, 2010 10:38 PM BST
i know yeah. they said he had gotten more muscley but didnt look the biggest. having said that he always did look quite skinny
Report RyanWe September 28, 2010 10:43 PM BST
I don't think I've ever heard a trainer say 'the horse has shrunk' though to be honest! So I never really know what to take from it when I hear 'the horse has strengthened over the summer', because I seem to hear it for every horse Laugh
Report revedesivola September 28, 2010 11:05 PM BST
yeah i no wat u mean. he didnt look much bigger in the video anyhow. Id say daryl jacob will ride him this year judging by nick williams enthusiasm when he talks about him. just have the feeling
Report bigben September 29, 2010 2:02 PM BST
Weird Al has a great chance imo.

There is just so much improvement in him, i just hope they can keep him sound.
