Diamond Harry 156 v Bensalem 143 at Chelt last year on BHA ratings.

Without a doubt, a well schooled BENSALEM is going to be well-handicapped if going straight for the Hennessey. Will he have a pipe-opener?

But I expect David Pipe to send THE PACKAGE to the race as well and try an repeat his win with Madison Du Berlais. Don't overlook OGEE, ANY CURRENCY or WEIRD AL. And there are others such as BALLABRIGS, GALLANT NUIT, PRINCE DE BEAUCHENE who will also go to the race with a chance.

But, given what I've seen on the racecours to date, for me its WEIRD AL.

trainer isn't confident that the hennessy would suit weird al...ballabriggs probably won't see a fence until the national....so i'm hoping that kempes is sent over and wins.Happy

diamond harry with brushed up jumping will be better than bensalem over fences but bensalems mark is very good for the hennessy. i hope diamond harry is put in the irish hennessy, john durkan and lexus

yeah i know but i think he would have been much better last season had he started off as a chaser. if hes goin to win grade one chases then i think the irish ones would be the easiest

Bensalem won't be in the Hennessy. Has had pneumonia and pleurisy since coming back from his summer break. While they're happier with him now, it will be the New Year before he runs.

Think this horse will line up in Gold Cup this year
By:

What makes you think that?
It's not impossible neill but, let's be honest, the horse has a mountain to climb before then!

there was worrying summer for the Bensalem team but the good news from Alan a few weeks ago was that Bensalem who developed pneumonia and pleurisy after being hit with a bout of travel sickness on the way back from his summer holiday in Ireland, has returned and is well on the road to recovery.

Bensalem returned from the vets is making good progress. Obviously, it is too early to make predictions about the season ahead, but it is a case of so far so good.

dont know what his targets are.

hope this helps.

I believe he has now been ridden for the first time which is amazing considering the news the last time I was at the yard.

reve - please! do you take the newbury novice form literally? but for the mistake at the cross fence, imo Ben would have destroyed DH.

o dear glad to hear hes back and getting better! I would think he will bypass the hennessey then. hopefully see him in the new year
By:

r carver. DH has beaten bensalem 3 times from 3 runs. Bensalem is not being pulled back or anything and their both sketchy jumpers(last year) so i cant see bensalem being better than DH anytime.
By:

Bensalem would had beaten DH if he had not smashed the cross fence at newbury and i am DH's biggest fan.
By:

When: 28 Sep 10 19:41
diamond harry made mistakes in newbury too and i think if they both jumped fluently then DH would have won. i think its fair to say that neither horse jumped well last season and with that in wind dh has won 3 from 3. i think that speeks for itself but i do think that if both horses went for a handicap for the first race of the season then bensalem would wi as hes better handicapped!Happy

Not sure I agree with that Reve, but only time will tell! I like your enthusiasm for the Williams horses, he is a top trainer.

yeah top class isnt he. Im only a young lad(less than 25) and my plan is to get rich. Dont ask me how...for 2 reasons.1 Im not quite sure how to go about it yet and 2. i wudnt tell any1 if i came up with a world beating idea. Anyway, when i do get rich i will definately have horses in trainin with the mighty mr williams... and im irish. unbelievable how good his string is considering they have all been bought for less than about 20000. he has some new ones that cost a little more though(max of 35000) so it will be very interesting to see whats to comeHappy

I quite agree reve - he's very good, I like the way he goes about it - and good luck getting rich, backing his horses selectively is a good plan.
By:

When: 28 Sep 10 20:29
I have to say im very selective(dont mean to sound arrogant) but im not sure if its the best way of getting rich. i think youd need to be very disciplined. i think theres a lot of money to be made though, only really on betfair i think.i really hope diamond harry will be a top class chaser and i think very good odds are on offer for a horse like him who has disappointed on his last run but clearly has ability. I mostly bet on horses from this yard because i am very interested in it and so read a lot about it and study it a bit too. I think from reading articles about nick williams and listening to his reactions to various races that he will give the ride on diamond harry to daryl jacob

I think Diamond loves Newbury, is best fresh (thats the time to catch him imo), and is potentially much better than his chase profile so far suggests. He'll be interesting at Newbury, wont carry my money i dont think, but imo if he is ever going to scoop a big pot, this could be it (assuming that is his target). Btw, i agree, being selective is the key, though i know some think its based on turnover. Good luck RDS.
By:
revedesivola
When: 28 Sep 10 20:40
bound to be fresh as nick williams has learned hes only a 3 to 4 running horse per season. good luck
