Is it good to go green?

17 May 11 10:22
Hi there,
Last night was good result, but it could have been better. First I backed Swansea to win @1.95 and also over 2.5 @ 2.35

Now after the first goal went in I greened up on both bets and proteced my stake. I have been doing this quite a bit recently, but I sometimes I think it would be better to let things ride.

But by protecting my stake and excepting a smaller profit I limit damage to my bankroll, because what I want is to gradually increase my bankroll with as little risk as possible.

I sometimes think a 30% profit is better with no risk than taking any chances. But I will see if my betting balls get any bigger and in the future take the risk. its still early days and I'm learning as I go, but I won't be risking more than 2-5% on any bet. The most important rule I know about successful sports trading is careful bankroll management.

Any thoughts on this?

I remember the 2008 NFL superbowl, everyone and their granny was on the favorite NEP they had a perfect 18-0 season and their last game against the NY Giants they won by 3 points(38-35). NEP were 12 point favorites for the super bowl. But I backed the Giants because well they were only beaten by 3 points the previous meeting between the two teams. And I figured the Giants would keep it close,if not win straight up. How could you not take the points was my thinking, so I backed the Giants + 12 and also straight up @ around 4-1 that day. the Giants won straight up. My point is there is no such thing as a certainty in sports betting, sure there are times when you think the favorite should win, but when the odds or in this case the spread offers an opportunity you have to take the favorite on.

Anyway good luck!
