Think Cunningham is huge @ 4 to beat fury, not sold on him at all still. Will be having my max bet on Cunningham... also think alcine vs rose @ 11-4 is way way to big... anyone agree?

Certainly some big prices out there.

Zaveck at 7/1 seems huge seen as Thurman hasn't been tested yet.

Cloud inside at 5-1 with headbutt insurance
Report Sabu March 8, 2013 5:36 PM GMT
Thurman is a beast, I think cloud inside is a decent shout, hopkins punch resistance isn't what it was although he's so savy

can't have Cunningham beating Fury, just too small, saw an interview with Nazim Richardson and even he looked a bit doubtful about the size difference.

Not seen much to get stuck in to at the moment, had a tiny treble this evening Barker/Purdy/Cloud all inside @ around 20s. Waiting for prices for a couple of fights on 30th March, hoping for a bit of value in Rios-Alvarado 2 in particular.

Somebody finally had a stab at Bellew chilemba I see, 1/2 the bomber, 13/8 chilemba. ..probably about right taking everything into consideration? Neither price tempting for me so probably just watch and enjoy what should be a cracking scrap. Still no prices for bam bam Sad

Alverado 7-2 and chilemba 9-4 think ill be playing outsiders again... not sure on chilemba defo on alverado tho he was bossing that fight ... couldnt dream of backing bam bam 1-5
Report alabaster crashes down March 26, 2013 11:00 PM GMT
Bellew and Chilemba look pretty evenly matched but home advantage eats into the value of the 9/4 too much for my liking, might play a bit on either fighter inside the distance, that cut tony got last time was as nasty as you'll see and Chilemba ducks in with his head quite a bit.

Alvarado bossing the first fight? No way, not for me. Take a look at the faces of both men at the end of the first round, Rios smiling away looking like he's in his element, Alvarado trying to put a brave face on but looking like he's in way deeper than he wants to be. Alvarado did do slightly better than I expected but honestly think he had to put up the fight of his life to stay in there whereas it was just another day in the office for Rios.

I actually think its a pretty pointless rematch for both men, Bam Bam to blast him away early for me this time. Said before the first fight the only way Alvarado could win is by outboxing Rios on the outside and he hasn't got the skills to pull it off. think 3/10 is great value actually but not really my kind of price so waiting for the MOV and round betting.

Alvarado at roughly 7-2 is very generous imo.  Overreaction to the outcome of the first fight for sure.  I had it 3-3 going into the 7th but Alvarado was coming on strong in the 4th and especially 5th round before getting hurt in the 6th.  I believe his main problem was himself, getting caught up in the brawling action/atmosphere.  Alvarado too often unnecessarily went toe to toe in a phonebooth setting when it clearly did not benefit him.  Alvardo simply needs to pace himself and keep distance with his jab, Rios can only win if the fight primarily takes place on the inside.  He is truly a one trick pony, Alvarado is more then capable of beating him if he stays disciplined.

To me it looked like Alvarado thought he could afford to exchange at times as he thought he was eventually going to hurt Rios and never being down himself obviously felt he would be ok.  Clearly didn't work out.

Report sj March 27, 2013 3:59 PM GMT
I had Alavardo 58-56 at the time of stoppage 1st fight, but the problem he's got will now be a mental one. He couldnt of stuck to the game-plan any better for his skills set(never a boxer in a million years) and Rios still got to him.
You need to be one of two things to beat Rios, a slick boxer or real banger Mike sadly is neither
Report alabaster crashes down March 27, 2013 4:33 PM GMT
Bellew looks bloody awful as usual at the press conference, can't keep boiling down like that. I'm starting to get tempted by the Chilemba price Confused
Report sj March 27, 2013 4:50 PM GMT
Bellew always makes me laugh "I'm gonna do this do that" He very rarely puts his foot down
Report alabaster crashes down March 27, 2013 4:53 PM GMT
yeah he's certainly more intimidating in the pressers than in the ring. I quite like the lad though, hope he can pull it off.

sj no way Alvarado followed his game plan last fight.  Look at the 5th round, which he dominated.  In the last 15-20 seconds for no reason he goes toe to toe in a wild swinging machismo battle.  Total lack of discipline.  Yeah Alvarado is by no means a slick boxer but he has enough boxing ability to tame the very one dimensional Rios.

It is concerning for Alvarado backers that Rios is with one of these "conditioning" coaches.
Report sj March 27, 2013 7:09 PM GMT
You've got to stand now and then mate. Otherwise the other fighter will just keep rolling forward, and you get a Cotto Margarito I type situation minus the plaster. 1-2% of fighters can fight off the back foot all night Alvarado isnt one of them.
I dont think he can do any better game-plan wise saturday night wouldnt be the first time I'm wrong though
Report alabaster crashes down March 27, 2013 7:28 PM GMT
don't think he'll get the chance to show a different game plan think Brandons gonna walk right through him and the damage incurred last time will ensure he folds quicker this time.

Rios gets a lot of stick for being one-dimensional..I prefer to call it one-directional ...forwards! and amen to that Cool

Boxnation now got it live, must say boxnation is not letting boxing fans down. How can anyone knock this for a tenner a month.
Report sj March 27, 2013 9:25 PM GMT
Yeah when you think Mitchell and Vasquez made Prescott look silly when outboxing him, and Alvarado needed a last rnd KO to win. He's far from a good boxer
Report Horangi. March 27, 2013 9:30 PM GMT
Ability to box successfully is usually based on movement.  Styles make fights.  Prescott had better speed/movement and was able to control distance against Alvarado.  In this case Alvarez has the better movement and can do the same against Rios if he has the stamina.

Rios badly needs to improve his core conditioning as he simply stumbles forward and eats waay too many shots in the process.  The amount of punishment this guy takes is almost worrying.
Report sj March 27, 2013 9:51 PM GMT
Oh yeah when Rios goes he will go big, but there is no sign of that happening yet and unless you're a elite Boxer sooner or later you're gonna have to hold your feet to keep him off.
If Prescott has better speed and movement than you then you really are struggling on the Boxing skills front
Report RBoyd86 March 27, 2013 10:02 PM GMT
Ok what i meant was that when mike was boxing he was in control but as others have said he seemed to then get involved at times for no real reason and thats when bam came into it.. The problem is it is very hard to discourage bam bam but as we saw when he clearly lost to abril can be done. I think alverado thought he had to do more than he was doing when really what he was doing was fine. I can see bam bam stopping him and getting to him again and i may play this depending on price, as think it is conceivable that he'll just walk through him. I agree with SJ in that the problem could be mental now as its very off putting when you've given out so much punishment and then the guy comes back smiling and knocks you out that has to be hard as he had in my opinion given his best performance in a ring by far. Reason ui want to take on bellew is same as fury, there hype jobs. Fury in my opinion is not very good and i believe he is chinny, i think steve will beat him. Back to bellew he hasnt beaten anyone, he's not the biggest puncher, I dont no to much on chilemba but going to do some homework, just get a feeling bellew is going to come unstuck soon, only problem is he will have massive home advantage and chilemba cant punch on all known.... ps anyone giving guerrero a small chance?
Report alabaster crashes down March 27, 2013 10:12 PM GMT
personally prepared to put the Abril showing down to weight problems, Rios really does look massive out of training, lightweight must have half killed him.

For me Guerrero is a definite bet at 7/1, the lay offs have got to catch up with floyd some day and the ghost not the sort of person you want to find yourself getting old in the ring with.
Report sj March 27, 2013 10:12 PM GMT
The only thing I would change to Mike's gameplan is not throw as many(it might of been part of the plan so Rios couldnt get set) and sit down on a few more to give Rios a lot to think about on the way in.
Mike's punch output was through the roof he was hitting the 100's per round. Honestly though he's 32 Rios 26 I just see everything against him, but I never knock anyone for putting up those sort of prices espeically with reasoning as well.
Good luck to everyone with their bets

Report Horangi. March 27, 2013 10:17 PM GMT
Hard to discourage a bet on Guerrero at 7-1+ but personally won't bother.  Guerrero is a B fighter, period.  He has beaten nobody near A level and this is only his second fight not at lightweight.  It is another cherry pick for Team Mayweather, honestly who has Guerrero beaten?  He was outclassed by Orlando Salido ffs.  Life and death with Rios poor man Selcuk Aydin.
Report sj March 27, 2013 10:18 PM GMT
Not really mate. cant make my mind up on Robert excellent last time, but really struggled with Aydin. Make a change that I can go over and relax when watching a fight, rather than running out the arena screaming if Cotto gets a hiding

Cheers SJ gutted tho feel got all fights pretty much spot on bellew overrated, alverado underestimated, crolla the ko was there...But still lost a packet bit hard to take. Just thank full i didnt go in on the chase on rios ko lol. Ps did anyone see the kid forgot his name against prescott crawford think was his name. Could be a future star befuddled prescott nulified his power electrioc hands, decent power especially if goes back to 135 that could could be empty now, maturity far above his own age and to take a step up from no one to a very dangerous huge for the weight big puncher was so so impressive. seen rosado vs love has been made can see upset there not overly impressed with love.
