INDY/ATL SERIES HAS TO BE WITHOUT DOUBT THE WORST PLAYOFF SERIES IN HISTORY. I THINK TNT ONLY SENT 2 CAMERAS TO THAT GAME.

So after the last timeout, Lakers come back shoot jump shots and miss, get in the paint and score, then go back and shoot outside again. Gasol is playing like a moron.

How hard is it coach? Tell them to get close to the basket coz they are sh1t at the rest of it, yet are killing it close in! ffs.

Lakers have no chance in this game because they are f**king retarded. Losing money can be tolerable, but when retards give you no chance, it's annoying as **** argh! AngryLaugh

Well, f**k this, awful playoffs so far for me, after an excellent end to the regular season.

In an attempt to make a bad playoffs possibly worse, I'm tempted by Bucks +12.5 points -- just for the fact that they gave Miami fairly close games in the regular season. Is this as dumb as it sounds?

But seriously, you say you keep ending up red by playing the underdog to keep it competitive so I wouldn't continue chasing with the same strategy.

Yeah. To be honest, my losses haven't been big today, they just never had a sniff, hence my frustration...

Boston to trade was my first play, which ended up as a no profit or loss...then the two today. So I am over-reacting, but watching the Lakers has been an angry experience Laugh

Im in profit again today, but its been slow progress.

I think Bean was right-on regards moneyline bets for todays games -- there were no good prices, which was my gut instinct. I guess I just wanted to get involved so made a couple of speculative bets in an attempt to trade. Would have been far better to go with the obvious and keep my powder dry.

I may just take a watching brief with Miami, an attractive price might occur in-play.

I think you should still do the overs/unders. It is much easier to predict that than the match odds.

When: 21 Apr 13 22:42
I've only been gambling on the NBA since late March...I've followed it on and off for years, but never bet on it. It's been good to me so far, so I should just follow my gut for the prices that I think are good, and leave well alone those that I don't think are good.

Typing this out is quite therapeutic Laugh

I don't feel able to make confident predictions on the points total, S+A...how do you come to your conclusions on it?
By:
Srichaphan or Ancic?
When: 21 Apr 13 22:44
Why not build a database of scores like I did. I put in all the match results for 8000 matches, and so now I can look at the totals for each quarter, or the score, and work out what the chances are of being overs/unders, or the home or away team winning, ignoring who the teams are and the prematch odds. That way it is easier to make a profit.

It has proved very useful, moreso than my tennis or baseball or football databases. The odds are often very wrong - and sometimes it warns me against particular bets too.

anic

are you taking the piss ?
By:
Srichaphan or Ancic?
When: 21 Apr 13 22:48
For example, in the previous match I could see that with the particular score at one stage, there were 203 matches that went unders and 5 that went overs, and so I knew that the odds of 1.1 on overs were too big, so I bet on that.
By:
Srichaphan or Ancic?
When: 21 Apr 13 22:49
No, why would I be doing that?
By:
the dza
When: 21 Apr 13 22:50
I don't think I could bet that way S+A, but good luck to you with it.

For me, moneyline is where I've had good success, trying to judge if a price is a good one based on form, players available and matchups. I've had plenty of losing bets and cmoe out with an excellent overall profit, so I must have done something right over the past few weeks. Just a matter of trying to continue doing the same...the difficulty comes in pressurising myself to try and make money each night, and therefore getting involved in games when I know that I really shouldn't.
By:

When: 21 Apr 13 22:51
Often people will say 'I think those odds are too high or too low' and they will bet on them without thinking that there is a reason behind the odds. If you have the stats available, you can then determine whether the odds are way out, or just a bit, and if they are way out, then there is probably something that people know that you don't, whereas it is those 'just a bits' that can be the most profitable, in my experience.

A GOOD STRATEGY ON BASKETBALL IS TO BACK FAVS THEN PUT ALL YOUR GREEN ON THE OTHER TEAM COS MORE OFTEN THAN NOT THE OTHER TEAM WILL COME BACK DUE TO A POOR BENCH OR A COLD STREAK. NOW YOUVE GOT JUST THE GREEN TO TRADE WITH WITH NO REAL LOSS. GRANTED THIS DOESNT ALWAYS HAPPEN AND TEAMS GIVE UP AFTER 1ST Q BUT ITS WORKED FOR ME.

Maybe you should wait until a later stage in each match before putting your bet on, the prematch odds are often carefully chosen to catch people out. They think 'this is too high' and they bet on it, and then it soars, and they panic and get out for all red etc. If they wait until a bit later, they could have easy profit.
